I never thought a band could perfectly combine electronic, post-punk and alternative rock, until I listened to Depeche Mode. One of the best bands of all time!
I'm 14 and I grew up with Depeche Mode thanks to my dad. Last and this year, I went to Depeche Mode concerts and they were magnificent. I'm so happy that I got to see them, sadly, many of us "younger" people don't know this kind of music. I'm thankful to my parents for showing me 80s music and following!
I'm 14 too and I also grew up with depeche mode's music. My parents had some of thier albums and used to play them all the time. I heard one of thier songs recently (personal jesus) and it brought back the memories.
Depeche Mode= best band ever! They have a unique style , dark but magnificent electronic melodies, amazing lyrics and voices ( Dave's voice of course but also Martin's). They really are an incredible band. DM forever!
@@je23508 Hell yeah, they do. My first was in 1990. Ever since, every time they come to LA...lost count of the # of times I've seen them. Friend had a painting autographed by Gore at the Faith and Devotion tour.
I literally busted into tears, I can't believe how much Depeche Mode means to me and the fact that I'll be seeing them live in less than a month is just too good to handle. Thanks for existing DM, my favorite band, the best band ever!!!
Hardly an 80s band. They started in the 80s but had massive success in the very late 80s and early 90s. I never knew them from the Vince Clark, Speak & Spell days as I'm not in the UK. So much better with Martin Gore taking over songwriting duties. They are simply timeless.
I am a big DM Fan from the albums Speak and Spell in 1981 till Black Celebration in 1986. From 1987 it was not my style and to commercial for my ears. Martin Gore and his fucking guitar damaged the great Synthsound from the first years of their career.
I’m a metal fan slayer, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, I remember as a child I hated Depeche Mode cuz my sister would always play “ people are people” just can’t get enough and somebody nonstop, Then my brother became a fan he didn’t like the rock music I play and listen too, I took out a Depeche Mode cassette tape out threw it against the wall , LOL, till one day a girl came along with my sisters friend same age as me, She started singing “Somebody” I was so in love in with her, I became a Depeche Mode fan, LOL, spring 1990 I bought violator cd played it nonstop
To be fair, that stuff was so much more their poppy end… but when they started getting darker both musically and lyrically, that is when they started to get fucking really awesome.
Also not sayjng I don’t enjoy poppy. I have a quite expansive music pallet. I love shit Like Rainbow, priest, maiden, cannibal corpse, slipknot as well as bb king, rush, backstreet boys, john mayer, django reinhardt, Charlie parker, hank williams sr, buddy holly, cream, jimi hendrix, its a bit everywhere. Love music shamelessly, people who pretend not to like shit to seem cool or whatever are the REAL posers.
I been a fan since Music for the Masses came out. By far my favorite band. 39 years old now, and have seen them 22 times in 11 countries. As big a cult following they have, they were never mainstream which sucks. They deserve more credit
A hugely influential band. Nine Inch Nails, Muse, heck, even Nirvana cited them as musical godfathers. Loved them since the start (I'm a 48 year old Englander) and I saw them at the London Stadium a coupla weeks back. They still carry that immense power and poise that only a very few, special bands have. And Dave Gahan is a total Rock God!
I totally agree with you! I'm a faithful fan from the very begining ( I'm also 48) and i love them to bits! I was 2 weeks ago at the concert in Manchester. They were in a perfect condition, full of brilliant energy, created a unique atmosphere full of amazing spirit in the air:)
And many others great bands in very diverse genres. For example the much regretted Chester Bennington from Linkin Park often mentioned DM were his favorite band ever.
Great band, loved them in 1982 when i was 18 still love them today in 2019, talented musicians coupled with Daves unique vocals is a world class combination.....
They were nominated in 2018 and were snubbed. I voted for them. But in retrospect, this band have always been non-establishment alternative gods to us fans. So I'm happy they didn't get in and freaking Bon Jovi did! Their legendary status is already part of the historical record. Dont need the RRHF to certify it for us.
Depeche Mode History can be summed up in two eras: Depeche Mode with Alan Wilder and Depeche Mode without Alan Wilder, guess which era produced ALL their hits?
I saw Depeche Mode for the first time in 2005 almost a decade after Alan Wilder left. I’ve seen them 6 times since. We’ll be seeing shows 7 and 8 this year. Home is a great post Alan Wilder song. So are It’s No Good, Precious and Wrong.
BEST BAND OF LAST 31 LAST YEARS. Today I bought your Remixes 2. 81-2011. Thank you for a whole life with your awesome music. Best Wishes and long happy life to such a Genius ♥ Your Devotees are waiting for next TOUR!!! BESOS 101
Geez mojo staff, were you all born in the 90s? It’s laughable for you to say the hit the big time in 1990. They were huge by the mid-eighties and even had a greatest hits album at that time you don’t seem to know about! Do your homework and not a cut and paste!
I saw DM in concert when I was 20… 29 years ago…. and it will always be the best concert I’ve ever been to. I have always and will always love this band with all of my being!!!!!!! My fave songs are Halo, Stripped, I Feel You, Policy of Truth, Behind The Wheel, Little 15!!!!! But really, all of their songs are EPIC!!❤
DEPECHE MODE are simply the best band ever. Martin is among the best songwriters ever in history. His lyrics have touched more people than most understand.
When I think about my earliest days as a kid this band comes to mind. It was my brothers favorite band so I would hear it. I really have fond memories listening to them. Back then in a more simple time. It comforts and hunts me at the same time, it’s just scary because time goes by so fast. Bands like these and many more music influences inspire me as a music artist. I’m on my way, I want to touch people’s hearts with my music like this.,
(She said one of the most popular electronic acts) He’ll woman Depeche Mode invented Electronic music!! Depeche Mode is timeless and Best Band Ever. Best Concerts I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a lot.
Awesome group. Informed my entire teenaged years and still does. I have the violator album art tattooed bicep to wrist on my right arm and faithful and devoted on my left 👍
i'm sorry vince clark, but i'm glad you left the band so soon AW, please come back i know you kept your in ear for drums you did not sell those 🙏 i will not go DM concert until AW comes back
I love you Dave and yr band Depeche Mode yr music from past to present is Magical and Incredible and yr gifted from God with yr Amazeing Voice and good looks.all yr songs are GOLD!❤❤❤
Best Band Ever! Sensual, poetic and undeniably brilliant...their song lyrics and music live deep inside me and have for many, many moons. Dave Gahan is the very best frontman ever.
...."Broken Frame", "Songs of Faith and Devotion" , ''Ultra" are one of my favorite albums of Depeche Mode and of course others songs, music from different albums of Depeche Mode....
People are people became a number one hit in (west)Germany in 1984. This was the beginning of the success of DM in Germany. Every time when Depeche Mode are touring in Germany, their fans attend to their concerts in black clothes called “the black swarm” I can approve that because I saw Depeche Mode performing 2 concerts in cologne (the RheinEnergieStadion in 2017 and the LANXESS arena in 2018). I’m a huge fan of dm and my mother has been a fan since 1985 when she heard master and servant in a club/discotheque. DM you really are the best Lots of love ❤️ from Germany 🇩🇪
I've seen their concert in Bratislava. They are great but majority of the songs they played were made in times of Alan Wilder. They would have never been so famous if it hadn't been for Alan. It hurts that he is not with them anymore. Such an intelligent and handsome musician.
The journalist who wrote that this was music for germans were spot on and Germany is not only the fore father country of elektronik musik and synthesizer beatz - It’s also the finest and most amazing country on the planet 🙏🏻
Ok I was 6 when thier first album came out and knew nothing about them. When the second album came out my older sister got it and I listened to it with her whenever I could. By the time Some Great Reward came out they were my favorite band and they still are.
