I think students should learn all they can about America's indigenous people to get an accurate view of the country's history, and its great educators like you have the passion to spread it!
@@cerebrilearning7447 Really? Then why does your "school system" lie even about recent history, e.g., the roman catholic orchestrated "great depression", the fake jew post balfour declaration, "return" to Israel, 9/11, your fake atomic bomb/s, etc.? You people don't have a clue as to how far this grandiose identity theft goes.
The Seminole are a combination of lots of tribes who escaped into Florida to avoid massacres. Runaway slaves joined them also. The Seminoles came way later and are not original to Florida. The feathered headdress and the grass dance are from the western plains indians NOT Florida.
Go back to school please, all indigenous tribes are called Native American, usually they are part of the tribal council called The First Nations, mainly reppresented by th Haida peoples. Francis Drake, after whom San Fransisco was named never visited Florida, but California. And the indigenous people of the Seminole tribe, up to this day, still use the old German flag, red, black and yellow. In their native presentation to the world, to denote their shared heritage, with Spanish Colonists, Dutch Settlers and their base culture The Haida peoples of the first nations of Canada.
I remember learning about the tribes in school. We would then visit museums with some of there tools and boats and houses. Just moved from Florida though so I’m kinda sad 😢
😢 Florida family i’m away from home too. Never been able to findout what tribe i’m from all i wanna findout and study before my soul leaves my body - i can feel it is soon life here as a african american christian 👨🏾 is hell
I'm a born and raised Floridian and I miss living there I've lived all over the state pretty much and know the whole state pretty well and there Florida is a treasure state for sure
The area of the Ais shown is no where near Miami as is narrated. About a hundred miles north to their southern border. I live in Brevard County where the Ais lived. Their Windover site here is one of the best preserved ancient sites in North America.
With all due respect - I am not trying to flame or shame you in any way but there are some things your viewers need to know. The video indeed shows Grass Dancing. However, grass dancing originates from the Northern Plains. Today we see grass dancing through out Indian Country but we should be clear this is not exclusively a Seminole dance nor is something that would see if it were not for powwows and Indians visiting from out west or relocating and bringing these dances with them and then not really until the mid to late 1980's and really starts to take off when Jonathan Windy Boy starts to make regular trips to Orlando Powwows in the late 80's and early 90's. I am also not sure why your final cut away slide shows children @9:41 shows Northern Plains children who are clearly Lakota in any mention of a video on "The History of Fla" in 10 mins. Please don't perpetuate that ALL American Indians wore head dresses or war bonnets. I won't go into what was missed in this video (The Civil War, Real Estate, Flagler & the Railroad, Cattle Country, Boot legging... just to name a few. All part of FLA History, all rich and robust for understanding why the state is what it is today).
The Spanish is the first of the arrive America, all America, Middle, North, an South, cuestion no unquestionable. Long live to Hispanic people, and this, is included to the tribes hispanic americans.
My great grandmother was recorded as being Cherokee. She lived around the Bartow / Mulberry area. No mention of that tribe in Florida. Anyone know if the Cherokee were in this area?

As far back as my studies go, the earliest we've been able to discover, the US started out with 2 main tribes and I believe they were in the Carolinas but for the life of me I can't remember the tribal names however, from there they branched off as they migrated. So it's very possible that before the trail of tears there could have been some Cherokee around.
My mothers people were part native to fla, we say Seminole. But originally they may have been. Some other tribe.. ,and asimulated into what is called Seminole. In North central fla, our ancestry goes back to before the us acquired fla, when the Spain claimed to own fla, , My people on my mothers side are true Floridians. ,,,,
My great great great grandfather traded with the seminoles at the Smallwood store and was really good friends with them I have heard a lot of stories about it
This is amazing content. Im moving to St petes to bartend for tourists. This education will go a long way creating conversation and spreading education
@Gringo it kinda logical, the grass dance was done to lay down the grass for new settlements for tribes in the Midwest United States as they moved around a lot, living in teepees. Tribes in the eastern part of the US did not move around much and had more permanent settlements so…
Read that there were also Tainos living in Florida. The Tainos were the predominate tribe of the Caribbean. Also i believe the dances of the Seminole's and Miccosukee's are called the "Stomp Dances". Maybe you can speak further about that..
@@cerebrilearning7447 A sequel would be wonderful. There is "The Circle" that was discovered in Miami a few years back when they were digging to make a Hotel-Condo.
Nice amount in 10 min. You should do one on Henry Flagler connecting Ny to Key West via train. Some brutal ass shit happened in florida. Im sure it also happened allllllll the way up.
I just received found out through extended family that we have ancestors from Gulfport Florida Native American tribe possibly the Timucua so now I'm trying to do deep-diving finding more information on them
Great video, thank you! One note- there is no actual historical source that indicates Ponce De Leon was searching for the Fountain of Youth. He was searching for gold though.

If you pay attention, no matter where a pow wow (Indian festival) is being held in North American the dancers all wear the same type of headdress, the same leggings, moccasins, same everything. Totally phoney! And they all dance to the same type drum beat. In other words they are putting on a Los Vegas show instead of exhibiting their native culture. I am of the Abanaki nation here in Maine and any member of our nation would be too embarrassed to dress up like that and put on a phoney show. Our dances are more like reels, high hops with whoops, lined dancers arm in arm with actual tomahawks and lots of loud whistling. Our true dance goes back 500 years.
@Machir Malih Torrefiel yep, people started out living in caves, naked, some ATE other people! Then MOST (or many) EVOLVED. Sadly, many still have not.
the Spanish carried diseases that wiped out 90% of indigenous life and over like 8 million died and the rest were killed by British that would later become us Americans and than and Indian removal act of 1830 which basically just gave them most of the Indians land from the west and made most of the indigenous relocate to Oklahoma.
Seminoles were all the indians that came from all other states and put in a fence at Tenor Rock in Lakeland ,,then moved them all down south and gave them land,,my grandmother and her dad told us ,her family founded polk county and she is full Florida indian ,,,she said Not Seminole....so Seminoles are a mixture of a lot of indians
Sorry, nuts and palm. The various species of palmetto plants had many uses for Native Americans in Florida. They could be used for lumber, shelter in the form of thatched roofs, fuel for fires, or the heart of palm for food.
In one of the illustrations shown, I saw MOUNTAINS in the background. Have you every been to Florida???🤔 This decreases the validity of other illustrations and videos and your story.
anyone get their ears blown at 2:42 lol. anyways where you said the Ais tribe was from isn't what is now Miami, that region would be considered Indian River, St Lucie and Martin county. and yeah like @DreamCatcher said the Seminoles weren't really from here like that.
Lol so there's mountains in the background in the painting of the Native on the beach when you where speaking about Tampa Bay. I've lived here all my life, never seen one around. Lol. Edit: #1 Also the thatch houses look two stories tall but most where not. In the photo at 3:49 that is the bottom floor elevated of the ground because of flooding. It floods here, a lot. Edit:#2 So at 4:36 the Ais location as circled on the map is in fact not miami. Its closer to Orlando. More like port st Lucy or Fort pierce. Which is hundreds of miles away from Miami. Miami is close to the keys, it is the gateway to the key after all.
The picture with the Mountains was not from Tampa bay, it was of the Creek tribe of the southeast, a region with plenty of mountains, who later migrated to become the Seminoles.
We also wanted to highlight the fact that they were occasionally 2 stories to highlight their advanced architecture, although most were not of course, sorry for the confusion
@@cerebrilearning7447 Read the "Tainos" also lived in Florida. The Tainos was a tribe mostly found in the Caribbean that encounter Columbus. But i read they expanded into Florida peninsula. Also i believed the dances done by the Miccosukee Tribe and Seminole tribes are called "Stomp Dances". Maybe you can confirmed that? Thank you for your replied.
While the story of the African-Americans who found freedom as part of the Seminole tribe is interesting, it was more recent than we ended up covering, although maybe we'll cover it in the future
St Augustine is NOT the oldest continually inhabited community in North America, although many people falsely believe this and it continues to be taught in many schools. In fact, there are at least three continuously occupied communities that are far older than St. Augustine; Taos and Acoma, New Mexico and Oraibi, Arizona. Stop spreading misinformation. Do your homework.
What's crazy about taos and acoma pueblos is they are the Northern most and just about the southern most. Surprised the African people aren't all up in here talm bout we was there till y'all imposters teamed up with the pale fork tongue trogs to take our culture, language and erythang .whao look at my head if y'all could see it y'all would see much ancestors talking to me ,it be goin up and down like some ring a ding ding ding keep the heads ranging, whooo I'm so I'm such a coppuh colored injun not these five dolluh natives from these places we supercede them ,whoo whoo whoo and muh ancestors walked that trail of tears ,blah blah blah we outchea and we taking back our land we ain't come in no dam slave ship show me one whoo whoo imma coppuh colored Indian whoo whoo !!! They all up in these types of vids regurgitating they old crap
Very true in someway, but since you mention North America, a continent (not USA), the oldest continually inhabited community in that continent is Tenochtitlán, Aztec capital, today Mexico City, one of the largest metropolis in the Western Hemisphere.
As stated earlier, this video focused mostly on Native Americans in Florida, with later info on who controlled Florida politically, we may do a part two that discusses African-Americans in Florida
I'm really not interested in talking heads or "'Muricuh" talks, where it's inevitable that Florida would get land-grabbed like most of the Southern and Western States. So thanks for being the only bearable and interesting/engaging video on this subject that deals in primarily American history and not "Planet of the Apes" English history, where John Bull is always right and always wins in the end.
Ponce de Leon is actually pronounced like Poncey. A ponce in the UK is a pimp, someone that never has their own money for a drink or cigarette and would be as offensive as me calling an eraser a rubber, like we do, in fact a friend got marked zero percent in an English exam for correctly calling his eraser a rubber, which the teacher took to mean a condom. It's also not how the Spanish say it, or the English, because it's worldly to know how other names and words are said, like with pizza, which you guys do. It's a shame you also uniquely do that with Italian names like Bertone, Pistone and so on, because when people with those surnames do it, they're effectively disrespecting their own family names, which is why with respected surnames like Ponce it sounds so bad. It's a real shame that people's diction and pronunciation is so bad over there, it sounds so bad sometimes and marrs the enjoyment.
@@siksika4603 no they were never slaves they owned slaves in the 1830 census and they’re no way they could’ve been free in the south in the mist of slavery especially that many years before 1863
@@handsumaf Well it seems like you know your family history pretty well. Also you seem like a decent person, so I'm not going to resort to the whole, trying to prove you wrong scenario.... Have a great life man...🍻
@MTS 3 baby ok... You can call those evil sons of b****'s whatever you want... All I'm saying is the historical record is very clear on this .. The African Americans came after they ran away from their captors were adopted into the tribe ..
Because it's a tell they are woke. BCE and CE were created for the sole purpose of insulting Christians. Jesus Christ is the basis of the chronological system that the entire world uses whether you like it or not. And I say this as a very anti-religious person.
So fuckin odd that the “natives” actually “arrived” and “emigrated “ over hundreds of years . But the ones emigrating another so many hundreds of years later are “monsters”.
Well to be fair the indigenous people were there for tens of thousands of years before Europeans, and they didn't commit genocide to come to the land because there were no humans living here before. No ethnic groups of people should ever be called monsters but the European conquest of the Americas was brutal and immoral
It is the generally excepted scientific theory that Indigenous Americans arrived around that time from Siberia, we couldn’t find evidence showing otherwise
Actually there are sites with radio carbon dating with 13.500 yrs ..lots of evidence..in fact I personally find portable rock art in my area depicting ice age animals..I posted a video here on utube.anyone who wants to see I'll be happy to send a link;)
