Fun fact, .95 cents (cad), from Oakville to Union, would be around 8.34 CAD, today in 2024. However as of now in 2024, the cost from the same route and distance would be 8.16, using presto, and 9.70, using e ticket.

Dear O-INN, Well done! The FHS HIGHLY approves of this video. You explained with great detail the history of the historic GO Transit company. Great work! We are going to recommend this video to people who have questions about GO Transit’s history. We are proud to add this video to our brand-new EPIC VIDEOS playlist as the first addition to it. Also, props to you for using historic photos. We love seeing those! :D And we caught the Confused Guy meme in there too. I remember riding the GO Train with my mother in the 70s and there were designated smoking cars. It would be interesting to know when that was phased out.

The F7A units were ACPUs. They were converted from locomotives only to be used to generate power for the trains.

Some points that I wanted to add to the video. GO Train service added to Guelph in 1990 was eliminated in 1992 due to budget cuts. At the time Ontario was suffering through the worst recession in decades and ridership had plummeted to these stations. GO Bus service was created to replace the lost trains. This structure would continue until 2011 when train service was expanded to Guelph and Kitchener with service to Acton returning later. In 1997 responsibility and ownership for GO Transit was transferred from the Government of Ontario to the municipalities the corporation served (Toronto, York Region, Durham Region, Peel Region, and Halton Region). This new ownership structure however wouldn't last long (since it was an asinine idea but that was Harris for you) with responsibility and ownership for GO Transit returning to the Government of Ontario in 2002. Metrolinx, the current owner for GO Transit is owned by the Government of Ontario and is responsible for transit planning in the GTHA (so really GO is owned by the government just through a crown corporation proxy). Previously planning for GO Transit was carried out by the Ministry of Transportation or MTO. Technically the MTO does do some planning with Metrolinx but the MTO is supposed to be roads and Metrolinx is in charge of transit. It's a weird relationship. Fun fact the Government of Ontario owns two railways, GO Transit in the south and Ontario Northland in the north. GO and Ontario Northland have always had close ties with each other, often selling equipment between the two. Ontario Northland also has the contract to refurbish GO Transit's train cars.

Well done! It's a great walkthrough the history of GO. One thing that you could have mentioned was the moving and condensing of CN's rail yards in Toronto north to Vaughan as well as the main line which helped make the GO Train project possible by freeing up the lakeshore trackage. I have left a link to some videos that I did on that project. Just a footnote on the ONR FP7s. They had their prime movers removed and were used strictly as cab units and to provide electric power to the train sets.
