He was an outstanding professor at Howard University in the African Studies department. He has left behind an AMAZING legacy of scholarship📚✒,from which humanity continues to benefit. Indeed Islam had established strong foothold in the Horn of Africa region as early as the first Hijra to Abyssinia, where Muslim communities settled in the northern Somali coastal towns, such as Sayla. Old Islamic archeological structures, including the Qiblatain mosque in Sayla are clear testament to this argument.
