From an inventor of watch parts to the industrialization of the watch industry to the invention of the Reverso, Jaeger-LeCoultre has one of the longest and most interesting histories of watch brands out there.
CQ is here to try to breakdown the whole history of the company from start to finish and give you an idea of how this prestigious brand got to where it is today. Whether it's the Reverso, Memovox, or their movements used in other's watches, JLC has always been innovating and working to improve.

Thanks For Watching! That has to be the best compliment on my voice ever! I'm working on slowing down a bit more and pronunciation. I can get a bit excited when talking on watches and I tend to speak fast as my Natural Accent is in a faster pace. Thanks again for the Support!

I don't wan't to say that 100% as I'm sure there might be few Watchmakers who made Low Quantities all in house that I do not know off the top of my head. But they are definitely one of the first to do it at their scale at the time. Thank You For Watching!

One of the rare brands left for true watch lovers, as it doesn't get hyped, thus not attracting people who want one just to "show off" It kind of makes them underrated but very cool at the same time. I see them as Grand Seiko in a way, you buy one to impress yourself and enjoy it, not to impress others. Oh and yes, I do own a Reverso :) Oh and very refreshing to see someone pronouncing it correctly, kudos for that

Well done, although you omit certain important milestones JLC has as a brand. Here are some examples: JLC was on Queen Elizabeth II wrist in her coronation ceremony. JLC was on Captain Anderson wrist while being USS Nautilus commander, in charge of the first submarine crossing through the north pole 😉

My first quality watch is a JLC pocket watch, issued to the British military in the 1940’s, and I purchased for £5 around 1970. It’s a great time keeper! Brilliant buy, and JLC is brilliant too! Nice bit of history, thanks.

Excellent review of JLC. Will probably never own one as they're not really my style in general. There's one model I like - the MUT Moon - but I don't see value in it and the short service interval scares me a little bit.

The switch from the putting-out system to the in-house system of manufacture began with the textile industry in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries in Europe. This is historically called The First Industrial Revolution. It would be interesting to know whether LeCoultre visited a textile factory and thought, "Why not the timepiece industry?" Also, what was happening in the metallurgy field that allowed the development of a machine to measure a millionth of a meter?

JLC is a fine brand and build amazing movements,however one thing that is unfortunate about the company's history is the lack of presence in the world of historical adventures,which Omega,Rolex,Longines and others have and are remembered for building watches that survive in extreme conditions. JLC built car and aircraft instruments,supplied armed forces during ww2 as with other brands,so thet are more than capable at just building watches for the wrists of the wealthy.
