If I trust anyone with making full length videos on Kingdom its definitely this channel! All your videos are well researched and concise and I admire the dedication and work ethic! I'm also so glad you enjoy Kingdom and everything they're about, they really did seem like a group that was right up your alley. I've been anticipating this video since you dropped the poll and your community tab and I can definitely say I am NOT disappointed at ALL! I can tell I'll be watching this video a lot, especially considering the longer wait period we're in for this time because of the tour😅 This video will be one of the few things supporting me through the wait! Thank you so much for making such a great video on them 💗
its the way im sat here at 3am deeply invested in this because either I'm blind or there's just no one else that talks about them like this and I'm so happy 😩 to answer the questions at the end of the vid: have been following them since predebut days and my fav track is probably Love is Pain
Oh yeah, I didn't know that KD chose "Shangri-la" solely because it fits their concept. On Twitter, I thought the judges talked about their concept simply out of nowhere and I got mad too, thinking "Why did the judges talk about their concept? What does it have to do with their performance?" But after watching your video, I fully understood why. But yeah I agree, their concept isn't hindering them in any way, but they should be more open to make songs that's outside of their lore. And so far, people love their B-sides. As for the HOK6 controversy, in my opinion, KD only used Japanese culture as an inspiration for their fictional universe, and I don't think they're meant to hurt anyone and so far, I don't think they're the type to touch on the sensitive side of history. But I completely understand why Knetz are mad as well, since both Japan and S. Korea have a very dark history together, so it may have made Knetz uncomfortable to see a Kpop group use a culture from a country that has done terrible things to SK as inspo. I feel like the timing to post the HOK6 group picture also plays a part here??? Because, iirc, it was during the time when Japan and S. Korea are having tensions again. So I guess posting it during that time was not a good idea? But anyway, love your video! And I couldn't wait for the 2nd part! I became a Kingmaker when HOK4 was released. So last year I believe (also, a week after Chiwoo left💀💀💀). At first, when I saw "Excalibur" it didn't get me interested in KINGDOM. But I gave them a second chance and BOOM! I'm a full-on fan! I'm also a fantasy fan as well and a casual history enjoyer and even a STARLIGHT. So this group has a special place in my heart😊😊😊 And LOL, I remember when Kingme Twitter were laughing at themselves for also thinking HOK5 was about vampires. I guess associating vampires with immortality, red stuff, time, and anything French is too overrated, so Mr. Ko decided to change it up a bit. I also cannot wait for the other group GF Ent. will debut. Oooo, this will be a joyride!
@@gwenmloveskpopandmore Oh yeah, thanks for correcting me. Yeah I read about that too. I do feel like the least tge company could have done was to let the group choose which song they wanna do, and with that, maybe their performance would've been better. Like it doesn't have to be something similar to their concept. I hope that in the future, if they'll do the cover again, it'll end up sounding better.
@@ninarances9074I feel like the song wasn’t fit for their voices and they only chose it cuz if the concept not which would fit their voices best which I agree with Jay he basically said that but fans got whiny over the truth
So happy to see this video, KINGDOM are so underrated that sometimes it breaks my heart, I’m Stanning them since their debut and everyday I’m hoping for them to be having more and more recognition 😞, thank for this video , hope it will reach many people 🫶🏽
Regarding “Long Live The King”: I agree with a statement that not every song needs a rap verse, however I think that LLTK needed a rap verse more than any other KINGDOM’s title track. As you have pointed out the theme is immortality. With immortality comes longevity, and with longevity different times come and go. And with different times come different aesthetics and styles. In my opinion, KINGDOM expands this idea not only in the MV (where we can see some modern elements) but also in the song itself: hence why the mixture of overall orchestral atmosphere, ballad-like bridge, hip-hop and dance elements, and usage of electric guitar in some parts. Regarding what will happen next: Even though that in the pinned comments under the MV we can already see that there WILL be something after Jahan’s album, I actually doubt that we will get Hwon’s album in the “first season”. As it was shown in KINGDOM’s shorts, Hwon’s secret trailer was uploaded in place of Chiwoo’s and you can see in the photo-books, that Hwon is the second in order, where Chiwoo originally was. So yeah, he’s not the eight king, and he’ll be replacing Chiwoo gradually in every aspect. And that’s why I also believe that Hwon will be based on a Chinese king rather than another Korean king. To sum it up: Hwon will probably receive his album after Arthur, in the second season. I hope I made some sense in that tirade. Great video overall, and I can’t wait for part 2!
YAY Kingdom! Long before I became Kingme, I was very intrested about them because their concept was unique to me as a history lover! Favorite tracks are Black Crown, Long Live the King, Blinder and Night Air! I love the video and can't wait for part 2! ❤
AAA I'm so happy you're covering KINGDOM! They are one of my ults. I remember when Excalibur released and RU-vid recommended it to me while I was browsing videos.. I've been a fan ever since. They really are a piece of art in concept and in general, and I'm so happy I get to experience their journey as a Kingme! Super excited for Part 2! 😍
The boys are very talented but I think this concept is very ambitious for a smaller company. I am very impressed by the quality of the videos and music, but I wonder how long the company can afford to keep this up.
MY BOYS!!!! Kingdom has been on my radar since Karma and I became a kingmaker during Ascension. I love there dedication to their concept and how much time and care is put into all the details. Thank you so much for a wonderful video!
Thank you so much for making such a wonderful and well research video on Kingdom! I’ve been a kingmaker since predebut and somehow you even managed to teach me a few things about them! I hope more people become their fan in the future. They’re so wonderful and loving to their fans. They truly cherish each one of us and it’s so rewarding to be their fan. They’ve mentioned that they have 16 years worth of content planned for kingdom, so its better to become their fan now instead of later!
I read that they'll be creating atleast 32 albums for 12 years? (Correct me if I'm wrong) And it was stated that they'll be making a Webtoon or novel too. Maybe even a drama. When I read all that I was like "Damn😳😳😳. I mean they seem pretty ambitious, so I'm not stopping them." I told my friend about it and she said "The math is mathing, but it's not healthy." What she meant by that is that it means KD will make 2-3 albums a year. I hope they won't be too hard on themselves.
This channel surprise me from many theories and how the creator inside of this youtube channel became researcher for us. I HOPE YOU CREATE MANY MORE VIDEOS.
Thank you for covering Kingdom and I can’t wait for part 2. I am a pre-debut Kingmaker and really enjoyed your thorough video. However, did I miss during the member listing Dann and Hwon? It starts with Chiwoo and ends with Mujin. I watched several times and they seem to have been cut out. We need our incredible leader and our newest member.
Wow! you aren't kidding with the name confusion! I glanced at the title of the video and thought, "oh I've always wanted to know what the Kingdom survival series was all about!" lol!!! As a person who works in a history museum and a K-pop fan, this group's concept is fascinating!
OH MY GOD IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS I LOVE U edit; just finished watching the video and i loved it!! it was amazing!! id definitely like to see you talk more about kingdom!! i became a kingmaker about a week after karma was released and found them because i searched kingdom in spotify intending to find songs from the survival show. a crazy way to discover them but im glad it happened [: as for my favourite track, it would have to be excalibur! i am welsh, so it means a lot to me[:
Omg as a Kingme thank u so much for doing a vid on one of my fave ult groups 🥺❤️🔮 I’m happy they’re finally getting the recognition they finally deserve!! so sorry I’m late midnight
Yesssss, I love love love Kingdom! Everything they do is so well thought-out and researched and meticulously done. How they aren't more popular is really beyond me. I really miss Chiwoo, though. I hope he's doing well.
Thank you for this amazing video! I'm a kingme and I'm so impressed of this video. My favourite songs are Excalibur, Warning, Fallen Star, The Song Of Dann, Long Live The King and Dystopia. I can't wait for their concert in September here in Chile! Kingmaker forever!
Im speechless wow 😍😍💞💞 ive known kingdom for almost 2 months its been such a beautiful journey 😍❤️ and thanks to you ive learnt so much more about them! Thank you so so much 🥰💖💖
As a person that lived through the early 2000s pop Era, I never really got into boy kpop groups. Kingdom is the one exception, their concepts and music that have historic undertones are so good and are so unique. Doesn't hurt that I'm a huge history nerd.
i've been wanting to get into them lately, ive just got one concern. i'm middle eastern. the next comeback is going to make or break this group for me because kpop companies have a history of appropriating and disrespecting my culture and people. since the whole group concept is inspired by different cultures and regions of the world, i'm keeping my hopes up that their creative directors did their homework and will be able to portray my culture in a respecful way but i don't want to get emotionally attached to all the members and their music just for the company to take a massive shit on my heritage and then set the members up for massive failure among international fans. i like them and i like their music, so i hope to GOD that this next album isn't full of cultural appropriation.
Kingdom, cix and exo’s lore are the most interesting ones to me ! Please do a video about cix and their lore too! it’s based on Dante’s inferno : the divine comedy and they touch on school bullying and s*icide. They even have short films that go along with their lore too! There are so many theories about certain members being angels etc I think you would have fun looking into the lore 🥹
Thank you for making this informative video about KINGDOM's career for those who may not be completely familiar with them A few things to be noted ^^ First isn't a big deal, but AAA 2021 took place during Black Crown era As for upcoming plans for the group, Jahan's album was confirmed by the members to be the final (assuming member-focused) album in the History of Kingdom series, which brings into question whether or not they will be sticking to their original plan of having an 8th part to the series since they are behind schedule for releases. The initial idea of the 8th album was that it would be the one in which the members united and the story would finally come to focus on the entire team. So until there is confirmation on how they intend to complete HoK, we really can't say with confidence what they have planned next in terms of album releases Ah, and also unfortunately Ko Yunyoung departed from GF Entertainment on March 31st of this year. It isn't completely clear what had happened behind the scenes to lead him to this decision, but the general indication from his posts on Insta was that there was a conflict of ideas on how to manage the group. However, he showed every intention to continue his support, has left his story to GF Entertainment to continue telling it despite his absence and said that he would be willing to help from the outside if they ever needed his input Thank you again for making this video, and I can't wait to hear what you have prepared for the lore video~ I'm looking forward to seeing what you might be theorizing about their story as I've seen many interpretations on the non-obvious aspects of it I've been a kingmaker since January 2020, so seeing other kingmakers' love and fascination toward KINGDOM is so heartwarming ^^
For AAA, I did state that it happened 3 months after winning their first award. I lumped both together because I would not be mentioning any more nominations or awards thereafter. Hope that clears it up for you. Also, thank you for the other information! I was unaware Ko left the company.
@MidnightTheories Ahh okay, I understand that now Thanks for the clarification ^^ Also yeah, I'm sure there are plenty of other kingme who are unaware of it since he pretty much left quietly besides his posts on IG 🥲 It isn't very widely known that he has social media accounts, so I don’t blame you for not knowing!
I got to know kingdom during first debut excalibur teaser while I was waiting or searching to watch the kpop competition show kingdom legendary war. My favorite kingdom song track are The Last Flower (sadly it ain't in the albums), night air, magical, fallen star, promise, destiny, and song of the wind.
You forgot cookie run kingdom /jk 😂😂 for me I think its easier to search in the members name than searching under kingdom I think it's because I have more kingdom moots it's more easier for me But if I want to find something I usually use members name or put some context or keywords while searching
Where is our Leader Dann and Hwon? It starts with Chiwoo and ends with Arthur. I know they are talked about in this video, but missed in the beginning.
well, tooks me two years to finally google some teories on my Kings🤣 i`ve been staning them from Black crown (unfortunately), and consider myself very lucky `cauze i meet the Acsenssion and whole fourth albom (which still is my favorite and not only because of Dann). and you made me think too hard, I cant choose only one favorite song🥲 its good to see videos like this on the KINGDOM`s lore, because i really needed someones help with figuring out all that stuff alone. btw, speaking of the Dystopia concept, I mostly agree that it's not up to us to decide whether the Japanise concept was appropriate. i can understand people who are offended by it, just as i am offended by the concept of Russia (i'm Ukrainian and i hate those bloody bastards). but I don't think idols deserve to be hated for history. especially when so many other idols release Japanise versions of their songs. it's been over a hundred years since the occupation and South Korea has become a pretty powerful country, so they could just talk about all this stuff like normal countries do. oh, and rap park in LLTK is perfectly suited to the song, and no arguments is needed to prove it🤭
I think the occupation ended in 1945 though (I could be wrong), so people are still alive from that time, and many people have parents or grandparents who grew up under Japanese rule. So that may be why it's much fresher. There were (and I think still are some) laws until very recently limiting Japanese media like anime on Korean broadcasting. I don't think idols should be hated for concepts (since they usually have little/no control over that), but I do hope the people picking the concept think it through and consider potential backlash, so the idols don't need to go through this type of thing.
