being transported from the elevator to the transporter deck is still the most amazing thing ive ever experienced

I agree, the transporter effect was fantastic. I took this ride many times and once behind the scenes with the lights on. That was even more amazing to see how that affect actually worked. The entire room was actually lifted up with a crane like machine to reveal entirely different room into place. That’s why when the lights go on you feel that wind, it’s actually the suction of the room being lifted up like a giant dome.

@@regalsoundproductions255 There isn't a video of how it worked. However, I do remember what they told us and showed us. The whole blue room with the 5 yellow lines on the floor was on a gimbal. The room (walls and ceiling only) was raised rapidly (kind of like an upside down bowl being raised up). As I recall, this was achieved in only a few seconds. As the room was raised, the round walls and ceiling of the transporter room slid into place quickly. All of this was done in seconds and almost entirely silent. The whoosh of air felt was entirely because of the room being rapidly raised into the air. It was all done in complete darkness, of course. When the lights came back on, the floor had a second set of lights to look like a transporter room with the round walls and ceiling completing the effect. This is the reason that the first room you entered required you not to touch the walls or ceiling. If you were touching the walls, the staff would immediately yell at you for it. Almost inevitably someone would get yelled on every ride. The behind the scenes tour didn't show us the effect at full speed, unfortunately. The gimbal was raised at only a fraction of the speed just to show how it all worked. I would like to have seen it operate at full speed with the lights on.

It was next level awesome. You could spend hours there looking & reading, dining at Quarks, shopping, even having drinks at the adjacent "Space Bar". They had an overhead screen that would replay the most inspirational oratory scenes from all the Trek series; it was like... magic. Something we'll never have again.

Near the end, they offered a Behind the Scenes tour, that told you how the transporter trick worked, let you walk around the bridge, explained how they made the turbo lift, then took you under the "shuttle" to the maintenance area to see the hydraulics that moves the simulator platform. It was cool to see how the ride worked.

I took the behind-the-scenes tour towards the end and you’re right it was incredibly great. The transporter trick was even more amazing once he knew how it was done. There was actually a crane like machine that lifted the entire room up like a dome to reveal a completely different room. When that happened and the lights went off you could feel the wind from the suction of the dome being lifted.

Being a native from Vegas (born in 81 and moved in 2004) I went to that shortly after it opened and went many times with friends and family. I didn't like the Borg 4-D Invasion as much as the Klingon Encounter. I was deeply saddened to hear when they closed the attraction down. I think they had lack of attendance because they slowly raised their prices up over the years to ridiculous amount. I think they still had price reduction for Nevada residence but not sure didn't check after I moved from Vegas. At the beginning when it was just the Klingon Encounter you were able to go on that ride as many times as you wanted. Once they brought the Borg 4-D Invasion on you could only go on it once just like with the Borg 4-D Invasion. I think that hurt things a lot too. I do wish though the original footage of the shuttle ride would show up online. PS To this day I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not getting a picture taken on the Enterprise bridge because one of my friends I went with one time didn't want to wait the extra time before it was ok to do it.

I first learnt about The Experience when I was a child and advertisements prior to Star Trek films and TV shows in the 90’s. I was lucky to finally be able to visit as an adult in 2006 and 2007, three tickets purchased. Though each of those 3 times I purchase a day pass, I went through the rides as many times as time afforded. The Klingon encounter made me cry as we went to warp. My friend placed himself under Guinin’s hat for an ironic photograph. This place made my childhood dreams come true, and even to see it again from a third person view evokes positive emotions to this day.

You actually forgot one tour experience in this "history of" video. In the last three years of The Star Trek Experience's operations, the show offered a "Behind the Scenes" tour of the exhibit. This was a tour which was separate from the Borg show and separate from the Klingon Encounter. With this ticket, you would be escorted literally behind the scenes of the still primary attraction, the then Klingon Encounter experience. This tour operated between the operating shows when we couldn't be seen by the guests. This meant sometimes standing around until the show guests had moved onto the next part of their show. This tour demonstrated how not only the transporter affect was achieved technically, but also how the final shuttle simulation worked from underneath while the shuttle was in operation. As part of this tour, we were led through the hallways to an empty bridge set and allowed to sit in the Captain's chair and be photographed. We were also allowed to examine the bridge set more closely for a short period of time with the lights fully on, such as looking at the commissioning plaque, at the signage and so on... something you couldn't do when the "show" was in full swing. We were also allowed to stand in a Borg recharge chamber and take a photograph there. This tour was intended to reveal the secrets of the attraction to those who took the tour. Since I had already done the Borg Invasion and the Klingon Encounter, I decided to do this tour. It was a little more costly than the shows, but it was well worth it to see how it was all put together and exactly how the transporter effect was achieved. I still have my ticket stub from visiting this tour as well as the two photographs from visiting both the bridge set and the Borg recharger.

Every time I hear about Star Trek: The Experience and the fact that it closed, I get so sad. I remember asking my parents throughout the 90's and 00's to go to Vegas so I could visit The Experience, but every time they had an excuse why we couldn't go. Usually, my dad would say he didn't want to support Vegas because he's a preacher and believed that Vegas was too sinful to visit. It always seemed unfair to me, and now that it's not there anymore I'll never be able to visit and there will never be another thing like it for Trek fans. Thanks, dad...

Got to see it a couple times before it closed. One thing I did do was take pics of the ST themed restrooms where i got to see where many have gone before! After it closed down I coudn't see any reason to go to the Hilton anymore. It was no surprise to see it sold off by Hilton and changed to the Westgate.

I had the Flaming Ribs of Targ (baby back ribs). When you order was served, your serving was placed on a fold-up table, wine or some other substance was added and lit. As your "flaming ribs" slowly burned in front of you, one of the servers would tell the tale that Jean Luc Picard once ordered the Targ, and his hair caught fire, thus leaving him bald. The ribs were served with frilled veggies and potato (I believe)... and they were DELICIOUS!!!! Their desserts were incredible too.
