Thanks for this video! That was one of my local theaters before I moved to California 25 years ago...just looking back and reminiscing! Last time I was in that theater was about 6`7 years ago...next time I'm in town I'm going in to see the remodel!! Thanks again!
Chicago Aussie -- Great job! Please do similar videos on some of the other still-remaining grand old movie theaters in the area -- the Logan, the Music Box, the Tivoli in Downers Grove, etc.
I have to make one correction: The Davis was divided into 3 auditoriums in 1986 as the host of this video correctly states. The complex had two small auditoriums in the back corners of the original auditorium with a hallway between the two leading to a larger auditorium located in what used to be the front of the original auditorium. In 1989, a wall was constructed down the middle of the larger auditorium; therefore, the Davis became a 4-screen complex. The Davis did not become a 4-plex in 1999 as the narrator states. That was done 10 years earlier.
Hi, CA. First off, I remember watching EDDIE MURPHY RAW in early 1988 in the larger auditorium. 2 years later, I watched BAD INFLUENCE in which the larger auditorium already had a wall down the middle; making the Davis a 4-plex. Also, I'm going to attach two Davis Theatre Tribune ads; the first one from December 1988 in which the Davis has 3 movies listed and the second ad from December 1989 in which there are 4 movies listed with an additional kid's movie showing once during the day.
i live in Lincoln square too! i used to catch the last shows, then go next door to this "dive" coffee house that was open late. i think it was The Grind Cafe but this was the mid-90s, i cant remember
@@ChicagoAussie I've been to the Davis on numerous occasions but not since the remodel. Skokie's Villege Crossing is usally my go-to theater, don't know why.
You should check out this Korean restaurant: Cho Sun Ok Its a BYOB Korean BBQ place that always has a line out the door. HalfAcre Brewery is right down the street, so I recommend picking up a growler first. Its not exactly video-worthy, but its worth checking out if you haven't been there yet.
