Spent a long time ogling these in the toy store back in the 80’s. I had a spider, a raptor and a small tyranisaur zoid. Couple of them came with comics. Good times!
#RIPRadioShack 7:33 Took them long enough but the HMM line up is finally what Zoids fans deserved. If I have to say a few things, it's that Kotobukiya kits tend to be more expensive than Bandai kits and they don't reprint kits as often meaning often we see HMM kits (for example) being resold at a very high price.
From what I have read on r/zoids its due to that Zoids is pretty much a niche brand that is pretty much dead outside of Japan so Kotobukiya limit the number of units they make. Due to the limited number of units that they think they can sell they have to up the price of each unit to pay for the production and other costs. They also don't reprint very often due to knockoffs being sold for 1/3d to 1/4th the price and it just isn't worth reprinting if you know they will be a hard sell. Bandai on the other hand floods the market with hg and mg units so much so that every online retailer generally has them 10-30% off every week, in some cases even 50%. In Japan hg Aerials and Kyoukai Senki hg are seen as essentially worthless and are hard to even give away. Bandai makes enough on the ones that do go for 100% price that they really don't care what happens to the leftovers.
Dang didn't know they go this far back. Always loved the show back when I was a kid watching toonami. I've never seen any kits or toys always wanted them. I've been so into Gunpla, but I might have to get one of these kits soon. They look so awesome.
My mom got me and my brother the Pegasus TechnoZoid when we were really young, and putting that beast together was such a nightmare 😂 So much confusion, but it was really really cool.
I’ve got several zoids and some of the rare ones are the 1/24 scale ones and some of the oer zoids and some reissues of the ojr zoids aka njr zoids and hmm zoids.
The HMM line is hands on, awesome down to the details. But the charm of the original 1/72 (and 1/24) Tomy kits is definitely stronger and the memories each one of us had with it. I wish they'd reprint, repaint, modify/add new armors of the older kits and make new ones like they did before because honestly the wild series personally is an embarrassment (except for a few Zoids). They should hire whoever made the designs from the 80s up until the early 2000s.
Zaddens me how poorly handled this IP was. As an x - Xebec employee who joined the company about 8 years after they made Chaotic Century, this franchise holds a special place in my heart. Even back then - Zoids was more of a product based IP along the lines of Beyblade, but they could have handled it better. The most recent iteration - Zoids wild is... really not nice. Had they played their cards right - this could have been like Japanese Horizon Zero Dawn.
