Professor Lee,you are giving a very important lecture about the Hmong people in the USA and the other countries that have come to the USA. Thanks very important lecture.
I'm proud of you Mai Na Lee, You are speaking English very well and you are inform the Hmong History to America people to know about the Hmong History during the Vietnam war in Laos
Mai Na, did you forget it or not when we crossed the Mekong River from Laos to Thailand. I think that time you were still very young girl like 10 year old in 1979. We escaped in March 1979 from Moos Cab. We walked in 14 days to Thailand. When we got to the Mekong River. We cut the bamboo to make flood to Thailand, your parents let you cross Mekong with us to Thailand. You were behind me attached with a string. Each of us used 2 bamboos each side to make us flooding. So when we got Thailand your parents, younger and older brothers were not there for counple of days. It was a long story so I jus wrote briefly. It is nice to see you face almost 50 years. My name is Xai Vang and I am living in Wisconsin.
overall an informative lecture. But for any future viewers, just know the information about the history of the conflicts in Indochina is very good. But when it came to the opinions about the culture and traditional practices it became just that, the lecturer's opinions - and with little knowledge or facts. Probably stemming from a liberal leaning education. Overall informative lecture.
Her research of hmong culture and history iis great but her experience of Hmong culture is not professional and accurate. She will need to do more research of the Hmong language and funeral activity.
