This was lovely. I was so pleased to see the old musician. He is usually at the night market and I wondered how he was managing with the lack of tourists. So happy to see he is OK. We have visited the Hmong village many times so it was interesting to see it with no tourists and wonderful you could spend some money there. It would be difficult for them. A tip for anyone planning to go, visit on your way to Tad Kwuang Xi as it is quite early on. And the bears are fed around 11.00 if I remember correctly so they are quite playful at that time. Particularly if it is hotter.

Just saw this video now and I caught the part where the elderly lady brought out a photo of herself when she was a big younger. Unbeknownst to the traveler, the reason why they do that is to try to reach out to their distant family. Hopefully, someone will come across your video one day and recognize her from her photo because she is unrecognizable in her old age.

Yeah Todd,,you were right. I was gonna love this one. What an interesting instrument that old guy played,,amazing the sounds that come from a simple instrument like that. His eye did look very painful though. As a dabbler, I truly appreciate the trade of blacksmithing. It's hard at any age let alone 70. I have a friend that made Damascus steel with over 500,000 folds. He has an old ,small pneumatic hammer. The most folds I've made is about 1200,, by hand , no pneumatic hammer . I've made hinges and brackets, simple stuff. I've made a few knives,,but not many. Most modern Smith's use big power tools to help them along. There is an English kid on here that I watch regularly called Alex Steele. Pretty interesting! I loved that nice grandma,,she was a sweet lady. Made some interesting stuff around there. The wife shopping began at the bear center. Lol both pretty women. I love bears,,are those bears native to S.E.Asia or Lao only.they look like bears I've seen from India. Usually I go down to Yellowstone park at least once a year to try to see Grizzlies,,but not this year. 2 weeks ago a father and son got torn up by a pissed off mama grizz. They were elk hunting,,so they had guns and they managed to kill her. I'm hoping the Cubs got captured or were old enough, past 2 , so they might have a chance to survive. The U.S. has had 100,000 plus cases of covid each of the last 2 days. Probably from breathing shitty air at election events. New record highs while trump claims it's been stopped and the numbers are falling. More utter horseshit on his part,,like usual. Around 1000 a day in Montana. Thanks for the awesome video Todd,,much appreciated. You and Neenee take care of yourselves,,Ttyl,,,Marlon

Welcome aboard! Ads can be a pain i know. I don't expect you to watch them all Gordon, but it does help if you think of it now and again. Much appreciated mate. Been back and forth to here since 2014. The last few years 50 50 with work. Covid forced early retirement on me...

Mate watched your wedding vids all 3 actually and must admit had a bit of dust in me eye ,loved the singing and dancing by the ladies and the the whole tradition of the ceremony. Didn’t realise what a looker Neenee was until she took off her glasses, your a lucky man 👌 Hope your both well and looking forward to the day we can have a couple of coldies together Best of luck for 21

I can understand their elation. Tourism meant so much to their village

His anvil looks like it's an old 155 mm artillery shell that either wasn't fired or was a dud. Front end cut off and the explosives sweated out.

My FIL’s dad was a Hmong blacksmith. He passed away 80 years ago prior to the height of the Secret War in Laos. My BIL went to Laos for graduate research; PhD. Amazingly, he was able to locate grandpa’s anvil and brought it back to the USA. My first reaction seeing it was a giant railroad stake. But it was a Hmong blacksmith anvil!

Hi Todd. Can you Do me a favour? I saw interested your video walking in a garden for months, could you show the trees to which fruit belongs? Please 🙏🏻 I only know how Bananatrees look like. Hmmm, getting hungry... Good Video again, have fun with your knife (cutting fruits? 😉)

Communist (Russian) transport truck leaf spring. I heard that commie spring steel is some of the best steel alloy ever made.

Tourism dollar (kip) must help the village. I'm sure they're shooed away at night.
