Lee Pace is a beautiful person. Makes me smile every time I see it. Thranduil is such a severe character but as soon as the horse starts moving, you see that smile creep in-Lee’s personality bursting through. Love him so much!
Can you blame him, though? After a while a horse moving out of scene would not make even a Sindarin king hold his composure; we get Lee trying very very hard not to lose it. XD
I can imagine Thranduil himself trying to tame his elk, and whenever he was on his mount trying to negotiate, the elk would just start drifting off and suddenly Thranduil's in the Forodwaith.
Line goes as "We have come to tell you payment of your debt..." and Moose starts moving whenever he said "debt". In Turkish when you say "deh" it is to make your horse start running. (similar pronunciation) So it made it funnier for me... Poor Lee Pace! He is awesome though he didnt break the character without finishing the line.

I was just thinking that! Especially since Lee's horse was "the biggest horse in New Zealand", and yet Lee is STILL tall enough that Luke, who had been riding a smaller horse, still had to stand on a box to get the relative height right.
You know, the horse moving around kinda worked out in the movie. Its like he's feeling the characters restless, arrogant energy and going along with it.
Thranduil’s black-silver armor in this really look like an angel wings in his shoulder. Wow. And his tiara… Love all of his costumes so much in Hobbits Trilogy.
All this time we thought Thorin's aggression was due to the Gold Sickness when in actual fact it was because tHese guys were having party food and didn't invite him! XD
Ey, that's how the 'elk' of the king is thinking like aka moose thinks "hey dwarfen king! Speak to my ass, royal style of elvish and btw, my owner above me, said to so so." lol
Look at Luke the entire time, just sitting there on his obedient horse with the quiet relief that Bard already has because “oh thank god im not him” could be transcribed to “wow the Sindar have come to help me”
I wanna see more of Thranduil, i really hate that smirky smile of his and love it at the same time. The fight when Legolas lost his mother, at Gundabar. THat story would be nice movie.
Literally the scenes where the horse keeps moving while he’s trying to say his lines makes me smile so much and gives me live, omfg his laugh and the fact that he’s so beautiful 😍 😭😭🥺😂❤️❤️
Since Amazon bought the rights to the rest of Tolkien's work, from his son and heirs.....and they did say that they were going to make more series. Maybe, just maybe, they will do a series all about the Elven World. King Thranduil will return!!!! Lee is not an actor portraying a King.........He is a King portraying an actor!!!! Love him!!!!
Luke had to stand on the box to look taller (I guess for this reason) when he's not as short too (1.83 or smth) XD Lee is like the closest to Tolkien's elfes (who if I remember right were supposed to be hella tall) in the cast of elfs
@@depressed_firefly oh, I’ve always imagined that Lee Pace is about as tall as the elves, but they made him look as normal height as the humans/wizards, bit weird tho
@@hconfection4433 I guess it would've been weird to make only one canon-looking elf at this point so they tried their best to not make him look hella taller than others
I think in the making ofs Jackson mentioned at one point that the Elves have to be supemodel types while he himself is a dwarf. Physically, Lee’s just perfect as Thranduil (and of course in every other aspect as well, I think he absolutely nailed his portrayal of the character).
It’s insane to see such a regal and commandingly majestic king to be fully serious, eat shit face, while his horse is prancing around and spinning him about
clearly Moosey here thought it was incredibly funny to piss off the film crew ^^ great sense of humour. my horse lifts his left hoof on purpose, even though I clearly ask him to lift his right one... he's a funny horse. Like Moose. XD
Moose: You are too beautiful....Thranduil: Hey, stay still.... Moose: I want to lick you!! (Turning in circle) Thranduil: HEY! Moose: I WANNA LICK YOU!!! (poops) Thranduil: There goes my figure...Dwarfs: *Falling off the wall laughing*
i am not good at english so i cannot hear everything Lee pace said, which was REALLY sorry. so, these days i am watching the scenes in which Lee pace acted and trying to memorize every lines that Lee pace said in each scene. id never hoped to see any actors in my whole life but now i have ONE, Lee pace!!! i really hope Peter jackson to make the next story about Thranduil..PLEASE..
A 18 hands horse, I’ve ridden 17 hands horse and that was heigh enough! I know there’s not a lot of difference but 17 is enough lol Horses just know when the right time (not the right time) to play up.
One of the most hilarious things I have ever seen 😅 Tranduil's horse slowly dacinh away, while Lee Pace remains absolutely in scene, Elven hair and posture held to perfection.
This will be my favourite BTS. Just dwarves yelling angrily behind the set decor, suffering while other actors eating happily and sitting comfortably in front of them.. XD
idk why i didn't realize how much of this is cgi.... imagined they were actually out on some plain in the mountains lol but it's really amazing what the computer animators can do, all the props to them
They didn't get it, the horse named Moose playing elk was in character - he knew what he was doing, and they didn't realize, how much better his message would've been: For he had his shit to give to the Dwarves.
