Carpenters, Art dept, Greens, Locations... they're all continuing to work. Most of the people who get to leave early or have vacations are going to be actors, directors, producers. Lighting and Grip dept probably had some time off or some light rigging to do..
His cast and crew have said nothing but great things about him. The only con about working with Peter is that he likes to keep refining everything until the last possible minute. If you ever watch the making of the lord of the rings or kong docs, everyone works until they run out of time.
I wish I could thank Peter Jackson and his crew personally for these behind the scenes videos and the extras on the LotR dvds. They've completely changed my life and who I am as a person in ways I don't think they'll ever understand and I thank them for it.
All these years later...the films were special and these diaries make them even more better special lol. Humble cast, crew and staff. Pleasure to watch.
Can can't believe its 2021 already. Its been this long since the movie came out and the movie feels like it came out just yesterday. Lord Of The Rings and the Hobbit movies never get old. Such a unique story to tell.
I remember watching all of these back in the day, and feeling so anxious about them as well for the movie themselves. This trilogy gets a lot of hate in comparison to TLOR and I don't think it deserves it. Watching these vlogs you can clearly see the amount of love and effort that Peter Jackson put on them as much as he did with TLOR. He is a man with a passion for these stories. THE HOBBIT were fun to watch and still are, yes they had somethings that should have left in the cutting room, but they don't affect the story and the overall lore of the world created by Tolkien. Funny enough i'm coming back here after Amazon released their series (not watching it, not got hooked up with it), and what that series is doing is making people go back to THE LORD OF THE RINGS and THE HOBBIT and finding out they rather go and watch these movies than the tv series. Also is making new audiences discover these films and realizing they've been missing so much. And even with it's flaws, THE HOBBIT stands out as a better piece of entertainment than the series would ever be.
So long ago, I wish i found this then. You have given the reverence to this series that it deserves.. The only thing I wish was different was that it was done in order.. The Hobbit, then the 3 books from the lord of the rings.. I read them all, in order, in 1975, 4 times, and I still know them by heart. So you know I am the biggest critic of this undertaking that there ever could be. And I found it MOST EXCELLENT!!!! From the actors, to the setting, to the sound. Well done all of you.
Well, LOTR was always the more popular of the two, so I don't blame Jackson for wanting to get to that one first. Compare to Dragon Ball Z being aired on Toonami before the original Dragon Ball.
Incredible when you imagine that Peter Jackson has assets of 400 million Dollars. He just acts and dresses so normal. I know people earning 2k per month, and putting themselves in expensive clothings, and acting like super rich
I really enjoy, watching the Hobbit👍 I just wish it had been longer😊 and there'd been alot more singing! Deep respect, for all those talented people involved. Looking to see more in the future😊👍 All the best to everybody.🤗 Moira From England. 🌹♥
I have such a great respect for people like you! Who truly appreciates the work of filmmakers! And support their passion! As an aspirering filmmaker myself, I feel touched to see your comment!
Very enlightening, and so interesting to watch ! I'm so glad the director took the time and trouble to give us a notion about the movie - making process.
Wow ….. The amount of man-hours that went into the making of this movie is mind-boggling. Not to mention the amount of imagination and just plain hard work from all involved. Wonderful !
Peter jackson, cast, and crew. Thank you for all the hard work endless nights and sacrifices you've made to bring us these Movies it warms my heart when i watch them. Reminds me of a time when i still had my mom and she was a huge fan of the books and movies.
Ian Mckellen, what a professional! Taking a break in the middle of Hobbit movies and immediately goes to do a play while everyone else is planning holidays...
Wow...so much work. Even on vacation. And yet there are tons of bad reviews. Maybe they've changed a lot from the books but for me, its the best movie series I've watched. Hope to see another one in the future. Thank you sir!
As a film maker, it's always a blessing to stay in somewhere like New Zealand. I live in Scotland and we have some gorgeous sights on our doorstep, will be using as much as we can in our next movie! Can't wait for The Hobbit, just hope the manage to keep Smaug under wraps until the cinema
Hello from Italy..Thankyou for posting these vlogs! Thankyou for bringing the Tolkien world to life..I Wish if i could be part of It All. Magical. Well done.
At 9:11 Peter Jackson checks if a branch is a "Floater". Now I'm wondering if the line "Well, that's lovely, that is. A floater." in the movie is an inside joke...
5 choppers in the air to scour location and survey the landscape... this production is/was out of this world, no wonder the sceneries were stunning in the movie
I understand and agree completely. I can honestly say I have probably watched the LOTR behind the scenes dvd's more than the movies themselves. Film making is truly the greatest form of artistic and creative collaboration. The passion these people have for their work and each other is incredible and I would have done anything to be a part of it. I want to be a film maker more than anything now.
All LOTR & Hobbit movies are genius, I can literally watch them again and again and always find something new everytime as if its the first time I've seen them
I was wondering what kind of tea Peter drinks, he got his cup in almost every scene. :-) Maybe that tea will help us to become as creative and amazing as he is! :-)
If Peter Jackson would do the movies, then it would work out okay. Please, Peter, think about taking on "Eragon". But with Garrett Hedlund as Murtagh. He was perfect for the role in the one movie they produced.
I wish the production diaries were longer. I've watched part one, this one is part two, and I still have some more to go. Heh, that's about an hour when I get to diary #6, but I still wish this was on television.
i agree with you, as i saw the bts on the lotr, the story between the film crew and the great way of just being a family touched me more than the movie itself, even cried when the bts was over :/
Everytime Peter Jackson is sitting somewere with a drink in his hand, sometimes he takes a photo and always he is doing nothing. But I think he is the best director of the world.
