The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) REACTION PART 1 

Galadriel, granddaughter of Finwë of Cuiviénen, student of Melian the Maia, bearer of Nenya, the Ring of Adamant, and the last of the leaders of the Noldor in Exile, was indeed powerful. But Sauron was more so.

At least you two get to see Christopher Lee cast as Saruman one last time before he departs to the Undying Lands.

For those of you who don't know: all of the wizards as well as Sauron are Maiar. Maiar are angelic beings of power. They are "lesser Ainur". The greater Ainur, the Valar, are spirits that existed before creation that were used by Eru Iluvatar (God), to sing the universe into creation. One of the Valar was Melkor. Melkor went bad and became Morgoth. Morgoth sang dis-harmony and evil into the creation song. The Valar had their servants the Maiar, and Morgoth's was Sauron.

One of these dwarfs's corpse was in Fellowship of the ring. The part where they discover the Dwarf tomb.

If you remember the LOTR movie - Galadriel also transformed into something "scary" when she explained to Frodo what the ultimate ring of power would do to her if she used it. In her battle with Sauron.. she is using both the Ring of Nenya (one of the Three given to the Elves) and the Light of Earandil (which she later gave to Frodo) to drive off the Nazgul and to banish Sauron.

The Nine are called The Nazgul. (Ringwraiths, Dark Riders). They are the "nine for mortal men doomed to die" by the 9 rings given to them by Sauron.

12:55 After Sauron, Galadriel is possible the most powerful being in Middle Earth (Tom Bombadil may be the exception however he doesn't interfere with the goings on of Middle Earth he just chills out with his wife). She wields the elven ring of adamant, Nenya, this is why she is able to bitch slap Sauron from Dol Guldur. The elven rings were forged by the Elf Smith Celebrimbor, not by Sauron himself. The elven rings existence was hidden from Sauron, so no evil touched the three Elven rings. If Sauron had the One Ring he would be more powerful, but because he infused allot of his "power" or "essence" into the One Ring, without it he is diminished and weak (its also why he technically cant "die" as long as the One Ring endures, so does his spirit). So technically when Galadriel faces him here they're almost equals (Sauron is in layman's terms, an Arch Angel so he would still be stronger than Galadriel, a Noldor Elf but with Nenya, she is much more powerful). She does not have the power to kill him, but she can force him from Dol Guldur through the power of her ring. Sauron was basically like "this is too much effort to fight her, bugger it I'll retreat for now" Elrond also wields a ring of power, Vilya, the Ring of Sapphire, and the strongest of the Elven Rings, hence why he is able to go toe to toe with the Nazgul. Saruman the White, is also a Maiar (aka Angel), which is why he is able to also fight the Ringwraiths. Elrond, Saruman and Galadriel are capable of defeating the Nazgul in combat, but cannot physically "kill" them as their "souls" if you will keep getting resurrected by Sauron's power. When the One Ring is destroyed, Sauron lost his power, thus his hold over the Nine also fails, allowing them to "die". Saruman is still "The White" here in the Hobbit films. He is still a good character. It's only once he calls himself "Saruman of Many Colours" is he evil, which happens many years after this point of the films. He starts to use the Palantir, the black seeing stones that Pippin interacts with, and over time Sauron basically convinces him that resistance is futile and that he would share power with Saruman (which is a lie, there is only ONE Lord of the Rings - Sauron himself) Sauron also warped the mind of Denethor which is why he goes coo-coo for coo coo puffs in Return of the King.

Galadriel is most powerful than the other elf (and one of the oldest) she have many power including the power of one of the elf rings nenya (the two other are in the hand of Elrond (Vilya) and Gandalf (Narya) that's why he was keep prisoner) - Like you see in the movies Sauron was call "servant of Morgoth": Morgoth is Sauron Master is like an archangel or a minor god the god of evil (very long story)

The way Thorin turned after the dragon died is the way the 7 rings given to the dwarf lords turned them. Dwarves are too tough to turn into ring wraiths, so the rings made the mad like that instead.

Bilbo plants the acorn behind Bag End, and 60 years later his last birthday party is under this, the Party Tree. When Frodo and the others get back to the Shire and drive out the bad men and half orcs led by Saruman who dies on the doorstep of Bag End, the Party Tree has been cut down in the ruining of the Shire. Sam had been given a seed and some magic soil from Galadriel. He uses the magic soul to help the Shire regrow and plants the seed where the Party Tree had been and it was one of the golden & silver Mallorn trees of Lorien.

A piece of trivia. Smaug is voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, who played Sherlock Holmes, and Martin Freeman (Bilbo), played Dr. Watson, in the same production.

Galadriel is uncountable thousands of years old. She really is that powerful by her nature. Like Thranduil used magic to hide the injuries he has to his face and get by, she appears as she chooses as the pretty white queen; but deep inside, she's not entirely of this world. I doubt that she needs to "travel" like anybody else to get around (Gandalf uses eagles and horses). Like she can talk with her mind halfway across the continent, she probably just takes a single step to go hundreds of miles. She controls storms, worse than we see Saruman doing in "Fellowship of the Ring". After the fight scene where she spanks and banishes Sauron, she leveled the mountain that Dol Guldur was on. Opened its deepest pits and dungeons under the sky, it said in one of the books. Probably makes 10.0 earthquakes with a wave of her hand. It's anybody's guess why she allows things to go on and doesn't take a bigger part in events. There seems to be something in the nature of elves' immortality that makes them just stay at home and ignore everything else that doesn't immediately concern them. Legolas is 4000+ years old, but had never been to Lothlorien before the events of LotR (it says in the book).

So many people hate this trilogy, but I enjoyed it despite its flaws. I am pleased to see you two enjoying it as well.

Bard knew about it's weak spot as Bain said in the last movie that one of the Black Arrows that Lord Girion manages to dislodge one of Smaug's scales (the one that is missing).

Galadriel has that power because she is wearing Nenya, one of the three elf rings of power. But using a ring of power obviously brings out her dark side, so that's why she looked evil when she used her ring to defeat sauron.

In the lotr religion, there are gods (valar), their servants (maiar, like angels) and beings: humans, elves, etc. Melkor was a god, sauron his chief maiar. The wizards are also maiar. However, power is not fully set by status, elves have tangled with melkor in ancient times. A full power gandalf or Galadriel v sauron would be interesting. Galadriel's story is one of the most interesting in all of lotr lore

Galadriel is of the noldor, she is quite ancient, and powerful. She exceeds both gandolf and soromon on both accounts. It was actually she who wanted gandolf to be the head of the order. But of course gandolf declined, wishing rather to roam the world. She is not however as powerful as soron himself at full strength, he is of the Maya, and a servent of Melkor himself. Love you two 8000.

I think if Miche was playing Dungeons & Dragons, she'd play as a Half-Elf/Half-Dragon. (yes you can be that in Dungeons & Dragons).

2:59 - In the book this is a bit ridiculous (I mean, for a children book I guess it's fine): Bard can understand birds because that's an ancient power of the men from the Vale and a bird just randomly tells him that Smaug has a hole in his chest armour (in the book he has a soft belly so he wears an armour made of gems). Also it's much less dramatic, Bard is simply a city guard that appears at this point of the story for the first time and he just shoot a common arrow. 6:20 - I understand that Tauriel wasn't in the book but her presence doesn't really change much and I don't get why people is so upset with a love story between different races when they had no problems whatsoever with Aragorn and Arwen and with Gimli loving Galadriel... 10:48 - The word is wraiths. 11:02 - He actually is already. At 13:58 he lies so that Sauron can still continue to gain his forces. 16:31 - In the book he's not such a douchebag. He still goes there for the gems, but he helps the humans of Esgaroth because they need help and he knows it.
