Dude, I totally agree. I think people (mostly) assume others are not as smart as them, and that idea is built into the hobby ie. "I know when to buy prospects", "This player is going to have a good year", "I know this set is undervalued" etc. So when someone has a big-brained idea that they haven't thought of, it normally gets relegated to "they don't know what they're doing". This theory about the Kurt's PSA plug fits in there. Automatically assuming this guy is stupid for doing this is short-sighted and judgmental. Thanks for the vid and original idea, this seems like the most plausible reason that's I've seen yet!

Interesting insights. I don’t think any of the people in the video care much about Marketing and are just enjoying the moment. It was surprising to me how happy they were with results as if it was a fake card they got past psa. Like psa 9 or 10 really has little impact on value. IMO. It’s the Psa authentication of the card that’s more important . I encourage everyone to remember grading is wizards and magic not science or public standards

Spot on, controversy creates cash - he knew what he was doing and there was a business agreement behind it. Knowing he might catch flack was a part of the whole deal - look at folks like cc2 and backyard who in fact have become more known/obtained a bigger following after a period of intense discussions and debate. Bonus: I think we'll be seeing PSA offering a cleaning/pressing service a la CGC by 2025. -SCC

This was my thought also that he was paid off by Kurt to promote the product.

I haven't seen the current dealer agreement, but in previous versions, there are specifics about social media posts relating to psa, as well as submission standards (directly referencing cleaning). I see Norcal is listed on PSA's dealer page, so if the shout-out was intentional (maybe just caught up in the excitement?), they potentially impacted their standing with psa.
