@@paidda both Tony and George shared (and even Jimmy Page) the same parallel universe story, when all three were recruited at a young age (average 13) to be in a band bc of their mastering guitar technique s. The threesome. May I missed to mention Ritchie Blackmore? but I'm not so sure about his early years story.
@@KieroUnasBotasAGoGo 1st: wild name suggestion hahaha and second: Yeah you could definetly mention blackmore. He started as a session guitarist for artists produced by joe meek in 1961 i think, playing on "johnny remember me" by john leyton and "Just like Eddie" by Heinz
He really let loose on that song, and it was very impressive. Later, he was more reserved, as they turned to more pop and less rock/R&B. Likewise, I am impressed with Allan's harsh and energetic vocals (also toned down as they turned more to pop).
TONY AND Bobby !! They power the motor that runs the Hollies !! but Grahm the genius ,.. they ruled the 60's but then shocked the World in the 70's turning into a visionary band with EVEN MORE HITS !!
I am sure I have read that Eric had a young family and as the Hollies became successful he could not manage both family and the demands of touring/recording and became unreliable. Eventually he was given an ultimatum and Bernie Calvert came in. That said, Eric was a great Bass player and its sad he has left us. RIP
1993 I was working on a construction site. Drake and Skull were the mechanical engineers. Vic Farrell was my contact as our subcontractor. Offfice Christmas party in our onsite offices. Vic pulls out the guitar. Says he was in the hollies .. took a long time to convince my family. As he used the name vic Steele in the group. And we didn't haven't google back then lol.
Bien por , the hollies , muy buena musica bastante buena armonia alegres , divertidos , muy buenas voces , coordinados , te digo que pienso , son un poquito mejores que los .mencionados en sgt , pepper,s linely hearts club Band , he dicho !
Totally adopted The Beatles look with the collarless jackets and Cuban heel Chelsea boots. They both were on the Parlophone label and recorded at EMI Studios.
Wow Wireless Electric Guitars In 63' NOT ! The Song Was Great, Even The Acting Not Bad, But Not Live! " Don't Worry Will Engineer It" When I watch videos and see no wires on Electric Guitars? I look Closer.
The two songs you mention were "of the time" . And Carrie Anne was in the Summer of Love (1967) and was a first rate pop record and a huge huge hit in many countries ...hardly an embarrassment !
The thing is, that they later focused n pop tunes - the ones they kept on selling well, (bc they were involved in legal /troubles about taxes via their manager) AND THEN, accidentally evolving into a sweet, happy pop also influenced by The Mamas and The Papas, or Lovin Spoonful, maybe(?) (in America this catched up the attention of *some producers* and renamed theirs pop formula as *BUBBLEGUM POP* and started to release Bubblegum pop singles to death) so that's why they were labeled also as Bubblegum when they did their "charts comeback" with Jennifer Eccles 🤷🏻♀️ after King Midas' failure...
Im sorry Graham, unles a drummer can sing harmony, I dont care who is "keeping the beat" they are just metronomes. A good drummer is one that keeps quiet while the musicians are tuning up and learning the new songs. It just doesnt matter that much. The Beatles still would have been the Beatles with Pete Best.
