I've been looking for this one for ages - couldn't remember the title. Wogan used to play it regularly but I have never heard it on any other radio show. Just love it. The lyrics, the melody, rippling guitar and that compelling drum beat - oh yes and mustn't forget their harmonies.
Don't need to listen to any other version, this one had my heart the first time I heard it last month. I am hooked on The Hollies, love 99% of everything they have done.
At 1:12 Graham with his tongue sticking out. Too cute. I just don't understand how these guys weren't bigger. They are awesome and Tony's guitar work is amazing. Fantastic vocals.
This song is now one of my favorites from them. Love it. Along with.... "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" "The Air That I Breathe" "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" "The Day That Crazy Bill Shot" "Stop Stop Stop"
This one passed me by until the Late, Great Terry Wogan started playing it (I think it would be on his list of favourites). I love it and can't believe that I don't remember it being released - maybe it was an album track? I was there when they first hit our charts with 'Stay' back in 1963.
Born in 1964, I dig the groups that were around in the '60s. The Hollies were great, but Lennon and McCartney wrote superbly, and The Zombies had a darker, soulful nuance that The Hollies didn't have. The melodically magical "Tell Her No" and "Time Of The Season" are equal to anything The Hollies did. I hate comparing greats that stand on their own merits and shouldn't be the stuff of contest. ; ] "He Ain't Heavy' was a fine one, and the power of the lyric line was even stronger than the soaring melody.
@@billholt174I guess it all comes down to personal preferences. Personally I think The Zombies were great but to me The Hollies were the only group that were at per with Beatles.Their catchy melodies and blending of those 3 voice was exquisite and sublime.
I been listening to the hollies since my teens and knew most of the songs from the radio and come across other songs i never knew exsisted like this song
In 58 i bought the version by Buddy Holly, loved it. Flip side was great as well, Think it over! But this is just as good, this didn't make it over in the states at all but it the harmony is GREAT Although the Hollies never did anything not great!! But boy this is really good,!!!!!!
It's Good Tune 😎👍 I Knew This About 1989 When I Rented The Hollies' Best Selection CD 🙆 I Like This Cover Version Than Mr. Buddy Holly's Version More 😁 This Cover Is So Likeable Arrangement And Harmonies Certainly 😎 I'm Glad To Listen To This Again 😄 Thanks To Upload 😀 Thank You So Much 🙇
I'm a big fan of Nanci Griffith. I own all of her albums. Of course, I also have all of Buddy Holly's songs and most of the Hollies, so I have all 3 versions. Buddy's is my favorite, but they're all good.
setenteromusic Tell Me How i missed this!!!!! oh, wait, i DIDN'T buy the Buddy Holly tribute album. . . poor decision on my part. . . TONY, your brill guitar turns me into jello!!!!
I like the hollies but this is too fucking slow and takes away the original mood of the song. This is a high energy song. This version is the nightquil version of tell me how
