The oak growing in the forest of Širvintas in the district of Lazdijai already counts 400 years. Due to its appearance it was once named the Hollowed Oak.
The hollows of the oaks once used to be covered with legends. It was believed that the devil in various forms can be hiding from the wrath of Perkūnas in the hollows. The Hollowed Oak of Širvintas forest is surrounded by other centenarian oaks. However, this one is of distinguishable appearance. The height of the oak is 29 meters.
