it was inspirational for those of us having appliance problems. But this new kitchen is lovely and watching her, it feels like we can all breathe more freely. It’s too bad it lacks a very narrow cabinet with mysterious contents.
honestly, Alison, if you didn't have a dishwasher/big fridge in this new apartment we all would have set up a fund "appliances for Alison" and bought it for you. congrats on your move! cannot wait for more content from your new kitchen. you are our gold.
It’s like the big yellow speckled bowl is there to remind and assure: Here I am, this is home now, we should celebrate (with some dill...👀) ✨Mazel Tov✨
Considering she has to move her trash can to get in to it every time, I'm 99% sure there is nothing in there because Alison doesn't seem like the type to deal with that nuisance. Or it was a broom.
Wishing you all the best in your new home, Alison! There is something so special about a new space that will slowly develop layers of life over time... So happy for you and thank you for these new gorgeous recipes to try. You = awesome.
What a beautiful, functional kitchen. You are so well deserved the best place to cook all your amazing dishes. Love the fact is that you appreciate everything you have and own👍🌷. Thank you for sharing.❤️
Congrats on your new kitchen - such a great space with lots of natural light! Quick side tangent/story time: I actually made the potato salad from Nothing Fancy a couple weeks ago which is quite similar to this one. Can confirm it is very good, especially with the celery and dill! I have made a number of your recipes in the past but since the * rise * of Home Movies, I was really inclined to buy one of your cookbooks. NF is such a joy to look through and use. Leafing through it always makes me happy, and I also love the suggested pairings you include in most recipes. Just wanted you to know! Also, these videos are a true highlight on Tuesdays. I make my partner watch them with me after work on the TV, usually while we eat dinner :) He is hooked now too and does your frizzled chickpeas justice. Thank you for the cooking inspiration, and congrats again on your move!
I really needed to see this today. My elderly mom is on home hospice and even though she is comfortable and I accept that this is for the best, I needed a bit of distraction today. Love the apartment btw! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for segmenting your videos, it helps so much. I'm definitely making these salads even though I've never worked with anchovies before!
When I realized this video was the introduction to your new apartment, I immediately paused, adjusted to highest resolution, and adjusted my headset lol. 🌃🌆🌇
Love the new kitchen, it is now bigger than mine, but will still be inspired to create in my smaller space. Thank you for that. This past weekend showed up to the first family bbq of the season with my potato salad - so happy with how it turned out scallions, lemon, celery - but of course it went into the fridge and when the food was served it was missed and forgotten :(
Semihandmade has doors for IKEA cabinets. I'm doing that for my kitchen Reno. Congrats on the new place, I remember feeling the same when I left my EV 5th floor walk up for an Astoria duplex- dishwasher included!
6:55 I see mixed reviews about the potato salad, but as someone who is mayo averse, I loved it. Couple notes: 1. I appreciate the lemon rind addition but will probably skip it next time because it is just too distracting in the dish. But I’ll keep the actually lemon fruit (I used half of a lemon) because it adds a wonderful tanginess 2. I used thinly sliced shallots instead of green onion 2. I used two generous tablespoons of grainy Maille mustard and one careful tablespoon of mayo for just a subtle touch of creaminess 3. I used small red potatoes, smashed them slightly then sliced the bigger ones. Will make again 100%.
When I moved into my place we had an entire full sized fridge next to an entire full sized freezer and it was glorious. When it died we moved to something more normal sized and gained more prep surface which was worth it but I miss the massive amount of cold storage.
These salads look amazing! Can’t wait to make them!! Congratulations!!! When I got my first full sized fridge I hugged it and did a dance 💃 🤣🤣 Soooo happy for you!!!
Hey Allison, I'm surprised you don't have a refrigerator with a freezer section on the bottom. The heavens opened up and flying unicorns descended when I got one. (SO much more functional)
So glad to see you in a kitchen you can be proud to cook in (no offense, but that other kitchen looked like a rent stabilized situation that hadn't been renovated since 1952 lol). Yay!!
Beautiful new kitchen! Love the white cabinets. I did notice that the new “normal size” refrigerator is actually too small for the space it occupies. Nice to have the flexibility to upgrade to a larger frig next time, instead of moving to a bigger apartment 🤣
Your recipes look great and I cant wait to try them out. I have subscribed to your channel because you have a great personality and I liked this video. I look forward to more.
Super cute Alison! The new kitchen/place...and YOU, of course! Really digging your channel and your cooking vibe. Very entertaining! You totally rocked the old place, but so glad to see you with a bigger stove, dishwasher, and a regular size fridge! Congrats and thanks for sharing!
I've made the potato salad and loved it. Can it be made in advance? What would you add last minute? I think I would let it come close to room temp before serving.
any vegan ideas to somewhat mimic the anchovies in the oil for the tomato salad? I know theres probably not a perfect substitute but anything at all so its not just fennel and chili flakes?
