Trying to burn away the memory of the other 3 sequels that came out and failed disasterously. But not this year. This time we're gonna explore the horrors of the Home Alone Sequels directly. ...Usually I get real tired of Home Alone each year, but decided to embrace it this time around. I can't say I was disappointed. Though I could do with those 6 hours back.

I like Home Alone 3 as well. Yes it’s different, but it has more comedy throughout and it’s my favourite of the films. Home alone 4 I have also seen, and it’s just weird, disappointing, and worst of all, NOT FUNNY!

I honestly really liked Home Alone 3 as a kid. It touches upon that child-like daydream of taking down the "super evil bad guys" seen in movies, especially scratches that itch when the villains are spies making that daydream even stronger.

I think my favourite part of the second movie is when they realise they forgot Kevin again and when at the airport trying to get a plane back they joke with the attendant that "At this point it's almost like a family tradition (to accidentally abandon their child)" and the attendant just looks at them like they are garbage

Because they are. Kevin’s family are depicted as pretty deplorable throughout the first two movies. Actually they get worse, since we don’t see Buzz physically bullying Kevin publicly in the first, but we do in the second and the parents side with Buzz in the second even though they very obviously see him bullying Kevin.

People are giving home alone 3 to much of a hard time. It’s a great movie as good as it could be without the original cast. The only thing missing is the nostalgia element. Imagine it being the first home alone film you had seen as a kid and you’d absolutely love it!

Idk, I have quite a lot of nostalgia for it and even when I was younger, I definitely preferred the first two. I think the issue with Home Alone 3 is its tone. It’s obviously a comedy and a fun spy movie but it has this serious plot about terrorists hunting for a multi-million dollar chip and the tone clashes don’t work. Plus, the cast isn’t as memorable or as funny. There’s definitely funny moments and decent performances but nothing magical like the first two

I honestly think introducing a new cast in Home Alone 3 was a good call, so things aren’t retconned like in Home Alone 2. There was a very clear lesson learned in the end of the first Home Alone so I don’t get why Home Alone 2 practically discarded that and made the first movie again but watered down significantly.

I like all the home alone movie except the newest one. My favorite def is the 2nd one. I kinda forgot what home alone 3 was about I watched it a few years ago but I know what home alone 4 was. One of those scenes made me laugh really hard I dunno why but home alone 5 wasn’t funny, there was a huge plot twist that was so boring I really hope they don’t make another one it’s gotten boring now…

One thing I will say about Home Alone 3 is that before the protagonist was introduced, they made it clear that the setting takes place after Christmas and New Year. So the purpose of having the message be about family and Christmas combo doesn't have to be mentioned.

The original concept John Hughes thought of was that Fuller the cousin who wipes the bed would be the main character and he would stay behind after his parents Uncle Frank and Aunt Leslie would go on vacation. But Pesci and Stern didn’t want to be in the franchise anymore so Hughes rewrote the script with new characters.

Home Alone 3 was actually a pretty decent film that switched up many of the first 2s elements. But this could also be just nostalgia bc since I can remember 3 has been aired on Christmas consistently alongside 1 and 2. (not 4 and 5 tho, god forbid)

Home Alone 1 and 2 worked because it was from the perspective of Kevin literally and figuratively, Kevin was written to be a child like the way he believes the story about Old Man Marley until he spoke to him. The concept was simple a child left alone only to realize he needs and wants his family while defending his home from burglars, not something as complex as international terrorists. Kevin in the original two had child like qualities, having fun alone, being scared and knowing he needed his family inspite of everything that happened.

The original movie also had clever use of Old Man Marley as some kind of dark parallell to Kevin, representing how the latter may have ended up if he continued to be resentful towards his family (and Kevin later giving Marley some advice represents the former's character development since he can relate to the latter's struggles). The 2 original movies also had clear stakes so that being alone actually feels like a conflict, whereas the later movies never recapture that and try to compensate by introducing external conflicts that have no real connection to the "Home alone"-aspect of the franchise

The main thing I love about the first two it truly has that child like wonder of what would you do a young kid alone to yourself. In the first it's kinda realistic reading the naughty mags and such. In the second it's silly but true ordering all the pizza you'd want shopping around. The others don't have that natural wonder to me. It's more focused on why is this kid alone and how do we get him to make traps?

Out of all the Home Alone movies, the first three are my most favorites equally. The fifth one is ok. Not as good as the others. The fourth is alright. And it’s an alternate universe or some other universe with a different Kevin, Buzz, Marv, etc. The first three will always be my favorites. 😊

Gavin Brown Roger Ebert gave Home Alone 1 and 2 pretty negative reviews but he actually liked Home Alone 3. The greatest film critic of all time agrees that it’s a good movie so who cares what anyone else thinks.

In defense oof Home Alone 3, the protagonist kid gets a character arc and is quite realistically a cheeky, mischievous 8 year old. Also, they established Alex as being really good with robotic things with his remote control car and channel changing TV thing. The villains weren't too bad because they were established to be serious, so it was funny when they fell for this kid's trap.

I LOVED _Home Alone 3_ as a kid. I also made the connection between Alex D Linz (Alex Pruitt) and the young version of Tarzan in _Disney's Tarzan_ and that made me like it more, because kids are pretty easily satisfied by banal shit. I haven't watched it in years, but I might rewatch it soon and see if it's *solely* nostalgia that made me remember it fondly.

Home Alone is a classic and makes me think about how nobody wants to be alone for the holidays (how ironic, considering this year). Home Alone 2 may seem like a repeat just with a different location. However, I felt there were enough differences to make it its own movie. Plus, I felt it still had a lot of the heart that the first movie did. Home Alone 3 was.... okay. It's in no way as good as the first two movies and the plot is convoluted, but at least the traps are fun and they acknowledge that this is not the same family. After that, though, they were awful.

I didn’t even realize there where five of these. The first two are iconic and regardless of which you prefer they’re both amazing. Home Alone 3, while not best as the first two did bring an interesting twist with having the parents return every day. I still recall a scene where Alex has to open the closet to put his moms jacket away cause he wants to hide one of the traps. As for 4 and 5, didn’t even know they existed

Honestly, you really did home alone 3 dirty. As a kid I loved number 3 (and still do now) but when I watched home alone 4 I was bored out of my mind. I disagree with you on every point you make about home alone 3 and I honestly think it's quite an underrated movie. I think it is one of those movies where whether you hate it or love it doesn't matter because you can still have fun watching the film. Home alone 1 and 2 are better films objectively than 3 but I think they are all on the same level of enjoyment Home alone 4 can die in a fire though :)
