On 21 August 2018 Steam - Museum of the Great Western Railway welcomed GWR 2-8-0 locomotive, Class 2800 No. 2818 home to Swindon. The return of No. 2818 to the site where it was built in 1905 was a momentous occasion in Swindon's history, and an emotional day for many who came to see the loco move.
This wonderful film was produced to celebrate our new acquisition, and to also say farewell to Class 7800 No. 7821 Ditcheat Manor.

I 'spotted' this loco on my annual holiday to South Wales, which would have been 1963 as she was withdrawn later that year from Neath

Thanks saw this loco at Shildon’s Locomotive museum, she was easily my favourite loco there. I’m pleased she is back home. I’m a GWR convert, having been a LNER loco spotter as a boy, also saw many LMS. I love GWR 2-8-0 & 2-8-0T and 72xx.
