I just bought a 2022 Grom yesterday. I haven’t gotten it registered yet so I’ve only been riding in my drive. It’s a long driveway. Can’t wait to get out and practice riding. I haven’t ridden in 15 years. So far I love the bike.
Hell yeah gas works!! Love my 2020 Honda grom and I had a 2016 Suzuki gsx s 1000 and could never use the power and was very fast!!! I have Vance&Hines exhaust, chimera intake and a flashed ecu from DHM and have 600 miles and hit 70mph top speed with traffic on a main road👍👍
I own a 2015 Grom. I agree it's a great little motorcycle. Let's not forget about the Ruckus and the new style Rebel. Has anyone seen the Navi? It's a 110 cc scooter available in India and Japan. I'd love to have a Navi here in the U.S.
I started on a 125cc dirt bike. Got a Yamaha QT-50 that was in mint condition (was stolen) and I’m not gunna lie I’m probably gonna get myself a grom once I get my class 6, next spring and summer will be lots of fun. Can’t really bring myself to getting another moped cuz I got like 2 months left on my learners 😪 just wish I didn’t have my Yamaha stolen when I have such little time left and now no way to get around.
My vote would go to the Yamaha TW 200, been around for over 30 yrs. Far more versatile, low seat height, similar hwy speed, and barely more expensive! I am glad that you point out the value of having 'starter' motorcycles in an accessible package, available to the greater public! Cheers!
I got a grom as my first motorcycle at the age of 40. Also own a HD now but the Grom is my daily and I love it. Ride 55-60 everyday and im in the 185 lbs range.
You got a HD? Damn RU-vid shut off notifications for your channel! I’m sick of this! I try to watch all your videos, but haven’t got a notification in months... They really need to square away their shit..🤬 Anyway, late congrats on the purchase! 👍🏻
Gas Works Garage haha no worries my dude! RU-vid notifications have been messed up like you said. And yeah, it’s HD’s smallest bike but I was still looking for a second cruiser type bike and stumbled across this one back in feb.
The Honda Wave 110cc and 125cc is the most important bike of the last 10 years. Go to SE Asia (Thailand) and you will realise that. Highly dependable, reliable vehicles for families and used as SUVs.
The Grom is also the bike that got me to finally pull the trigger and buy a bike in my mid-30's after wanting one since I was a kid. I didn't end up buying a Grom as my first bike (I got it's big brother, the CB300F) but still wanted a Grom or similar bike, so I ended up getting a Z125 Pro as well.
Oddly enough I STILL want a Grom...and a Monkey...but I'm sure you can understand that feeling, since you have one of each! The small bikes are just so much fun. I was considering getting rid of the CB and trading up to something bigger like a Z650, but realized I really like the light weight and don't need or want the extra power. The CB does everything I need it to on 60mph backroads, and the Z is a blast for the slower speed stuff.
Yep, I just picked up a 2020 Grom. I have had a 79 CX500, a 2001 CBR600F4i, and a 2015 DRZ400SM. The Grom is right up there with the DRZ if not more fun. Yes, it is slow by motorcycle standards, but it is zippy for what it is and is ridiculously nimble.
The Super Cub got me into motorcycling last year. A CBR 500 scratched the sport bike itch. I gave in and bought a blue Monkey couple weeks ago because it was just such a good looking little bike. It has its own unique fun factor, though I still somewhat prefer the Cub’s smooth, almost telepathic ride. Now a green Grom is calling my name but surely a 3rd 125cc Honda would be very redundant??
Just curious if you had to get rid of either your Grom or Monkey, which you would keep? Or maybe the better question is which you ride more often? I'm contemplating getting something to tool around town on though it's a fricken furnace in Phoenix now. Thanks brother!
I’d keep the Monkey. I think it will hold its value longer, it’s better looking, more comfortable, and the build quality is top notch. Only if I HAD to choose between the two.
Gas Works Garage does your Monkey have less plastic vibration noise than the Grom? I feel like on my Grom that I can hear more noises from the plastics than from the stock engine/muffler! Also was thinking of trading my Grom for a Monkey at some point. Glad to hear you recommend it.
Yes. Way less noise. On my Grom I can hear the plastics flexing sometimes. The only noise I get from my Monkey is the keychain vibrating against the handlebar clamp..
Lots of Honda Grom in Thailand and the choice of younger people. I think a fad as was the Honda Zoom in Thailand. Older westerners would opt for a Honda Monkey for a few bucks (quid) more.
You mean lower bit rate to 12 or 14 Mbps? If you lower the frame rate that much the footage would be extremely blurry. Frame rate should double frames per second, as a general rule to get the right amount of motion blur. This video was recorded in 2.7k, 30fps, uploaded at 4K with 14 Mbps. Optimal settings. I’ve experimented with uploading GoPro footage to RU-vid on many occasions and it’s the compression that RU-vid applies to that footage that makes it look less than perfect. Not to mention GoPro footage itself isn’t the highest to begin with. The camera’s bitrate is low, which looks fine, considering, but when uploaded to RU-vid with its compression, it will always look a little crappy when motion is involved such as is the case with riding and recording.
@@GasWorksISO No, not lower bitrate, but frame rate. You should be able to do so in video software when rendering file, that you later uploading to youtube. Now You have 30 frames per second. Try only half - 15 fps. Higher frame rate mean more pictures per seconds, however, YT have limit on Megabites per second. So, if You have more pictures in one second, RU-vid will lower their quality, to reduce their size in MegaBites. Sure, it will allow more frames, but it will not allow more Megabites. If You use less images per second, RU-vid will compress individual frames less, which will reflect on better overall quality. I found it in this video: "GoPro Video on RU-vid - How to Make it Look Sharp".
Oh, ok.. I see what you’re saying. However, if I export a 30fps file at say, 24fps, the video naturally is choppy because the program has to drop 6fps. Then if I upload it to RU-vid, it’s still choppy. I’m sure there’s ways to make it work on a lot of PC video editing programs, but I use an APP called LumaFusion for editing, and it’s a bit more simplified. I’m ok with the way it looks as is. It’s not perfect, but it looks just as good as other motovloggers.
Hi it's 2024 now and they got these motorcycle marked up to 5500 out the door were buying used grom for what you would have paid for brand new lol and the grom is 5 speed now hahahaha
I've owned a ZX10R, harley night train, ktm supermoto, R6 and now a grom. The grom is literally the most fun I've had on any of these bikes! I've been riding dirt bikes and quads since I was 14 yrs old. Got my big boy motorcycle license at 18, and I'm 35 now. It's hard not to get the sport bikes because of the cool factor and show off in front of girls. But you'll notice all that wears off and then your alone riding by yourself with 1000cc or 600cc between your legs in 40mph speed limits. Gets boring! The supermoto was fun, but got me in trouble with cops because it looks like it's not street legal and was very loud. The grom.......well........cops treat me like I'm a 90yr old man on a scooter and don't even look my way lol
Im also 5 '10 and 53. Bought a kawasaki Z125 Better looking bike buy the way. Im having the time of my life. should have done this 20 years ago. go for it brother.
Im 57 years old and 5'10" tall, i weigh in at 220 lbs. and the grom fits me well, i have a blast riding it, it's all stock, no mods, i love it, if you get the chance get one (pure fun) 👍.
