Brings back such cool memories, I was a mod in 79 to around 82 I was like 14 in 79 lol but we did idolise you guys. Went to Suttons school and we had quite a little firm of us back then. Always in trouble lol
Great to see the old faces again im from the lot a bit younger than you Dickie but without you lot we wouldnt have experienced those fantastic times so thank you Dickie , Scrape , Eric , Bartho , Colemn , Chester , Moth , Dez , Mr Seager , Tel , Bill , Pav etc and all the first gen HX mods for getting us into this lifestyle
Thank you 🙏 Paul, would a lovely message to read and your welcome. Don’t know if you remember Tom Morton, but he always refers to me as the older lot. But in any case he came and spent a week out here in Japan with me. It was interesting swapping stories of the old days. A lo of the above still ride scooters even though some are in different countries. Dez stills rides but is Australia, I have a new lambretta v200 out here. Quite a few meet up at the wheatsheaf for the FAB Easter egg run.
Were these the 70s or 80s? I had my lambretta li 150 in 1965/66. I worked in Rainham on the Deans Factory. Estate and my mod mates all lived/worked around there. Jeff Foulger, Eddie Jander, "Siddy" anyone? My scooter was resprayed metallic purple, chromed and polished panels and the rest. Our antics were crazy! Baggy ex army anoraks, the correct Mod stance on the scooter and rides to Eddie Grimsteads in Barking for accessories to add on. Indelible memories!
Some great pics there of Margate run back in the day, especially of the old coach park ( now an Aldi ) behind the tax office. The walk up there past Thanet Sports trophies, now long gone. Also of the police taking away a local skinhead, who walked into a packed pub of mods , to take everyone on. Still got all my pics of the same weekend.
Bought my spare 9” wheel in Enterprise for the 50n, all the way from Italy. My mate Ian Dench hung around the Enterprise, bought a lovely Rally Electronic. Wonder if anyone ever reads this knows Denchy and Silky?
Superb. Wow this takes me back . Enterprise Scooters. It was a great Mecca for all scooter and Mod lovers. I remember the biker boys just up the road at the Bull Pub. They were really great times!
thanks for posting this----I was an original MOD of the 60's and I lived in Elm Park--so this was interesting, although I feel most of this centres around the MOD revival of the early 80's ?------- It was a great scene back in the 60's-----respect .....
Yes, it was around the 80's time, it nice to know there where some originals from our area back then before the mods died out, but the 80's mods are still around and on their scooters.
Yes some pics here are about early 70s I think because the crash helmet rules ( original 60s mods were not bound by that law) and also car number plates but the scooters were fantastic. We had it all then and did not know.
Great to see the photos Dicky. Nice archive. I was looking for pics of the Lemon Popsicle Lambo in flip-flop paint. I'm sure John Kelly bought it, but I remember he always had problems with it. But I think that was probably John being a terrible rider. I see Gary Thacker a few years ago (ex Romford) lived a few doors up from JK. Seeing this footage made me feel like getting another scooter! You are Living in Japan! You were always a nice guy. Best Wishes
Good Evening Richard Jordan, could i use this video for the RAF Hornchurch Heritage Centre that will be opening in the new year at the Sutton House next to the Former St George's Hospital in Hornchurch. We we credit you on the video of course.
