This video explains Black Veterans fight for full citizenship during the 20th century and the violence against them.
Black Veterans were ever inspired to defend their country in the pursue greater opportunity. African Americans have served in the U.S. military for generations, but instead of being treated as equal members of society upon their return from military service, thousands of Black veterans were accosted, attacked, or lynched between the end of the Civil War and the end World War II.

My grandfather fought in Korea and came back to South Carolina with no GI Bill, no VA loan, nothing. I told every soldier that I served with and every veteran to use those benefits since a lot of people got screwed out of them.

My grandpa too, served in Korean War. So sad the injustice and the racism endured by our people.

My grandfather served in WWII. He never really talked about his past, but I have begun to uncover a lot. His mother (20) and sister (5) died in 1919 in rural MS. I have my suspicions that they were targeted during Red Summer. His father and siblings lived to an old age.

Okay let me say this is great content!! As a black vet let me just say that in alot of "peoples" eyes you're still a n in or out of uniform. You are good enough to get your tail potentially blown off for "their" country but don't go strolling on a sidewalk in "their" neighborhoods unless you show your ID if asked by a stranger lol. Just my rant.

This is a good channel, but a little background music would bring more suspense to the stories🤔

I don't find these stories are here to speak on racial violence but more so how hard these ppl fought to succeed
@tylowe78
@tylowe78 Год назад
The racial tension and/or violence made it hard for them to succeed. So at the end of the day it all boiled down to racial inequality. That was the common denominator.
@trentonbates3114
@trentonbates3114 Год назад
@Ty Lowe racial inequality, segregation, poverty, these are all obstacles they had to overcome. I'm not saying it's not there I'm saying, I feel like we could all take something from this, be us black or white, and you can do anything through determination and discipline, look up jack Johnson also a inspirational figure

@@trentonbates3114 I've heard of jack Johnson the boxer from the early 1900s. He was married to a white woman and white people didn't like him because of that and because he beat up their great white hope(s). That's only one person compared to the freedom riders, black wallstreet(tulsa, ok), the lists goes on...

Black Americans are having a sharp decline in the military . I think this is by design.
