I love the spirit of originality that marked basically all of the previous century's art when they actually got paid, and well...my favorite being music, you wonder how they thought it up let alone performed it, I think the same here, how did you even conceptualize, let alone create it... Also, the attention to detail such as her skin texture at 0:53 or the upper right corner of his chest panel at 3:08 like it was a quick one off rushed design made in the shop.
@XinferisTV
@XinferisTV 5 месяцев назад
I used Midjourney AI to make the art for this video. So it's really about figuring out how to get the AI to create the style I want to create and telling it what to create. I generate thousands of images per video, but only about 50 make it into the video. The music though is performed live by me, and is mostly just improvised.

Marvelous, as always! Have you ever thought about combing the imagery with sci-fi / horror short stories being read? There is a ton of source material, for example from old issues of astounding tales and other journals, staring around the 1930s, all openly accessible. I always enjoy your videos, but they also seem like a showcase of what would be possible in a larger project. I'm also thinking of mystery stories like SCP (see, e.g., The Volgun) or a read "Cosmic Encyclopedia" of weird places in different galaxies. best wishes!
@XinferisTV
@XinferisTV 5 месяцев назад
I was contemplating doing that but writing the stories myself. These videos are already a considerable amount of effort though, so it would be a bit difficult to do both time wise. I may do it at some point though. It would likely be a separate channel though to keep things consistent.

❤❤ as a big synth nerd, I'm wondering what you've used here. Sounds like a an MS20 filter in there. Also 3:42 is very CS80, but hard to tell. The sound design is first rate. This is similar music to what I jam in my darkened garrage, lit only by glowing LP Pro Mk3 keys and a Tesla coil. Love your sonic wandering.
@XinferisTV
@XinferisTV 5 месяцев назад
I am a bit of a synth nerd too, obviously. :) I have some real hardware synths, but the synths I used in this video are all plugins. The first track is Arturia JUN-6 V and Mini V4. The second track is Arturia CS80 V (you guessed right!) and PROPHET-5 V. The third track is all Arturia JUP-8 V. I have used Arturia's MS20 on some other other videos. My tracks in general are just jams. I used to record my jams just for my own personal listening, and created more elaborate multitrack creations as my "real" music. One day though I realized I liked my jams better, so I started releasing them. Now it's the primary music I make. Thank you for listening!

@@XinferisTV ha! The juno 6 was close on my list too. I am all retro vsts now. Downsized oldie, and no way wife would be happy with me filling up my cave with new hardware. And today's vsts coupled with powerful pcs are just fantastic. I have invested in lots of controllers: you can never have enough knobs to twist. I've just started buying high end mini pcs as daw / vst / standalone platforms, linked via mini clocks. Outstanding performance and reliability for the price.
@XinferisTV
@XinferisTV 5 месяцев назад
@joesweeney6262 I am actually thinking about selling my physical synths, because they mostly just take up room at this point. I still think analog filters are about 5% better than emulated filters in general. But on the other hand real analog has noise, requires you tune it and has other annoyances. Plus there is no way I can afford the real synths that the VSTs emulate. I just have more affordable physical analog synths like the Behringer Model D, Deepmind 12, Neutron, etc. They are obviously good synths, but there is no way I am ever buying a real CS-80. :) But yeah having good controllers, and a couple collections of synths like Arturia's V Collection is the best compromise in my opinion. Honestly it's kind of silly calling it a compromise with how amazing the plugins are today. :) I have a Native Instruments Kontrol S61 MK3, and it's amazing how well integrated it is with all of my synths. Since the knobs are higher than MIDI resolution, there is no stair stepping twisting knobs. Also the ease of use in the way I can select synth and effect presets (either previously made by me, or the ones included with the synths) and tweak them is amazing. In many ways it feels better than a physical synth usability wise, while still really feeling like real hardware.
@joesweeney6262
@joesweeney6262 5 месяцев назад
@@XinferisTV if you do start down that rout, i recommend investing in some midi controllets that give you the performance 'feel' of physical synths. The Faderfox PC12 comes closest for me. Its a thing of simple beauty. What I REALLY want is a custom rig of 12 groups of 8 big 3/4" inch rotational knobs that support midi 2 (or at least 14bit midi), with a set 16 of programmable buttons. Throw in some sliders too. I looked seriously at building such a rig using multiple teensy boards. The cost for parts was close to $3000, mostly for the rotational knobs. Still... I can dream.
@XinferisTV
@XinferisTV 5 месяцев назад
@joesweeney6262 That thing looks cool! :) My Native Instruments Kontrol S61 MK3 has MIDI 2 and the extra resolution, which is quite nice. I have tried some experimentation with various devices and at least with soft synths, I am pretty okay with just have 8 predefined macros when I am playing. Technically the S61 has paging, so you can control a lot more than just 8 parameters through it. I have set up MIDI controls to entirely control synths, and although it seemed neat, it wasn't intuitive. It was hard for me to remember all the controls. Of course I could make overlays, but I use a lot of different synths. For more than just a few macros, it's easier for me to just use the UI on the soft synth. In general, I kind of separate sound building and playing in most cases. So I will have solid time where I am building sounds or finding presets to use as starting points. Then when I work on a track, I just load up some presets (either my own or ones that come with the VST) and tweak the macros a bit. At times I will modify more advanced options at that point, but that's kind of rare. I am much more focused on composition and playing at that stage. It's kind of insanity, but I really want Native Instruments Kontrol S88 MK3 too. The synth action is amazing on the S61 MK3, but I enjoy playing on weighted, hammer action keys for many things. That is probably the number one thing on my gear list.
