Hope you all enjoy this one! As I said, had a lot of fun putting this one together so thanks once again for all those who requested it! Always open to taking ideas for videos you all want to see.
@@MiguelGarcia-uf9ll oh it's abandoned? You suggesting this today might have been fate. Might be able to include this in the very next video I'm working on. Thank you!
I am SO happy that my country gets more attention in the paranormal/history sphere of youtube. Czech republic has so much cool legends and mystical places that are worthy of talking about!
@@TheTapeLibrary That´s amazing! As a history student with passion for paranormal and folklore, I feel like Czechia isn´t getting much attention from youtube creators like other Slavic countries (for example Russia,or Poland) and its really nice to see somebody as meticulous as you giving my country some well deserved attention.
I have a video suggestion, it's on the _Hoia Baciu Forest_ in Transylvania. There are tons of strange stories and sightings surrounding the forest and it's odd shaped trees. I know I'd love to see what kind of strange and creepy accounts you could dig up. Great video as always! 👍👍
Agreed! I have an acquaintance who happened to spend an afternoon there about a year ago, and he said he literally shit his pants that day. Out of the blue he heard a "loud" whisper calling his name, and when they were deeper into the forest there was this smell of sulfur. Also he noticed his heartbeat was irregular the whole time, something he never experienced before (he's healthy). I don't think people talk enough about that place, something seriously wrong happened there that brought on the region this low vibration/evil energy. Great video!!!
I love how you actually talk about topics I haven’t heard of before. And you’ve got an incredible voice. Your edits are great. And i actually get immersed in your voice. Absolutely zero other creators can do that. Love this channel!
@@TheTapeLibrary of course! I really appreciate you and the outstanding job you’ve doing. I’m so happy the algorithm threw this channel at me. Keep up the great work and I fully expect that you’ll blow up. 💕
One of the most notorious legends surrounding Castle Houska is that it was constructed over a large, deep hole believed to be a portal to Hell. This pit is said to be inhabited by demons and other malevolent spirits. To prevent these evil forces from escaping into the world, the castle was built to seal the portal, effectively containing the horrors that lay below.
I’m so glad you decided to do some content on old dwellings like castles. I have always been terrible drawn & fascinated by such types of dwellings b/c they exude such aged & literally drenched w/history & events that the younger dwellings just don’t hold.
If you like stories about castles I would like to suggest a book, "Living with Ghosts" by Prince Michael of Greece! Very interesting stories! One particular one took place in Poland about a treasure that was supposed to be buried there! When communicating with the ghost she informed Prince Michael that yes there was a treasure, but not gold and gems! A secret that went back to the Knights Templar! Patricia Gambino Harrington
gotta say you have some of the best jumpscare edits i have seen, it's not just some scary face screaming at you but rather your edits contribute to that feeling of dread is just enough to keep you on your toes without breaking immersion.
Appreciate that! I try not to really do too many jump scares as it feels a bit cheap sometimes, but on occasion I'll do something a bit 'jump scare esq' if it feels right for the story. (Or for that one subscriber bit I did with the clown before, that I seemingly traumatised a few people with).
Visitors and staff at Castle Houska have reported eerie occurrences within its walls. Tales of ghostly apparitions, strange sounds, and feelings of being watched are common among those who have spent time in the castle. Ghost hunters and paranormal enthusiasts often frequent the site in hopes of capturing evidence of the supernatural.
@@TheTapeLibrary One thing highly notable to me... is just how much of this story feels divorced from the reality. It's like a creepy pasta... that mentions a real place... but doesn't know anythign about it.
These videos are just great man.. I tell ya you just get zoned in and locked into the story that you’re telling, you do this very well. All and nothing but the best wishes to you and your channel man, you’re golden 🖤🙏 God bless
This isn’t usually my cup of tea as a subject, but I found the whole thing more interesting that I thought it would be and more compelling thanks to the narrator.
You guys have animals and insects that scare even the evil! Crocs are the worst of anything coming close to shores and those venomous spiders; oh no.. even entities are like no this is no good
The headless horse reminds me of the "Mula sem cabeça", a creature from Brazilian folklore (it might have come from Europe since it relates to Catholicism and not our natives beliefs). I used to have nightmares about it when I was a kid hahahahhahahaahaha Great video!!!
@@johngordon4138 it is actually a headless mule in the folklore, I researched it afterwards hahahahah In the place where the head should be, instead of blood, it has flames coming out of the wound.
Slovakian American in the house. I finally did it, I subscribed!! So overdo but here I am. The editing, narration, and art makes for beautiful storytelling that is unrivaled in my opinion. Never stop what you’re doing, I seriously feel like you could get into television some day.
Wow! This was very interesting. Could you please do one on Chillingham Castle? I remember Alan Robson telling the history of it on Scariest Places on Earth, and I became entranced with the place. I'd love to hear more about Chillingham Castle.
Want to try and have a bit of variation on geography. A lot of the American stories just have so much written about them it makes it a little easier. Will be coming back to Europe though!
I love learning about history. Especially paranormal history. I'd love to go see the Czech Republic for a while to experience the people and culture myself. If I knew someone there, I'd move for a few months or longer, since I don't need to work unless I want to or have a reason to. I don't know much about them and would love to know more. Maybe I'll start planning a short trip. But I'd love to check this area out.
I'm not quite sure what to make of the hole under the castle, but you made mention of the design of the castle being a cube within a cube, within a cube; which is (supposedly) what a tesseract is. This is, of course, a bit of intriguing speculation, but tesseracts are supposed to be able to facilitate some sort of time travel, if you're into quantum physics. (I'm not very well versed in such things.) But it would explain the time slips in some fashion. Still, very interesting stories.
I love hearing about Houska... It is a supremely spooky and intriguing place. I wish somebody would do a proper excavation there and see whether or not there actually is an unusually deep pit below the building. That much of the mystery at least should be confirmable or deniable conclusively. Ah, well. Perhaps in another lifetime?
The fact that it was limestone explains the bottomless nature of the pit: sinkholes form in limestone because years of rain actually slowly dissolve the rock. It's very common for sinkholes to go so far down, and be so dangerous, that people can't find the bottom.
The castle was built to keep an evil demon contained who was captured by local peoples ages ago who used the hole in the limestone as a prison, but the demon is eternal so did not die, the demon has special powers like seeing thru time and sucking the life out of people, this is why the castles defenses face inwards instead of out, it was designed to keep this demon inside rather than for defensive purposes.
I'd heard of the chapel built over a supposed portal to hell, but didn't realize that was Houska Castle. Thanks for sharing. I hope you can do more videos of ghost stories and legends from Eastern Europe. There's a lot of material there that doesn't get much coverage
21:55 I thought the same at first, that smartphones weren't around yet in 2006. But Blackberry or Moto Razr and other mobile phones were able to show "moving pictures", just on smaller screens...
I absolutely love your videos man! Im a huge fan of this type of content, unfortunately there's alot of overlap between similar channels doing the same story, but you manage to find stuff ive never heard about or that nobody else has made a video about! You keep pumping out the awesome content and I'll keep watching, I promise you that! Much love my friend, toodles! 😂
This one is a real head scratcher. It's not cheap to build a castle, so why go through the expense of one that has no strategic value? Was it meant to be a monastery or nunnery, explaining its plain appearance, with few defenses?
It is weird, but due to how many refurbishments it's had over the years I just don't know how concrete you can take the lack of defences. Either way, as I said in the video it is a strange (but beautiful) looking castle
The hole in the ground is probably a natural occurrence. The screams the prisoners say they heard was probably the natural sounds of the Earth. The pure darkness and the noises probably did drive them mad. The hole could be spewing vapors from the earth magma perhaps. Really a good video, good "ghost" stories and who doesn't enjoy those.
Not sure about magma, Czech republic has zero volcanic activity. I thought at first it could have been uranium deposits and the prisoners were affected by radiation poisoning, but but that would have long term effect on the area that would have been recognized. It was probably some kind of gas.
Nice storytelling, and interesting! Never heard about Castle Houska until now, even while living in Europe. The hole that is talked about seems remarkably similar to Mell's hole in America. i would have expected in all this time at least someone would have lowered a basket with a set of torches, a lamp or, in today's time a remote controlled robot equipped with lights and cameras in various wavelengths.
Torches and lanterns don't burn down in the bottom of deep wells, especially if they are old and CO2 (which is heavier than air) had time to pool down. Remember, fire needs O2 to burn and CO2 displaces it upwards. Ofc this also means that a human being is unable to breathe, unless air is provided with syphons and pumped down.
Oh goodness. You've surpassed yourself with this one. I loved the beautiful artwork you used especially. The story about the poet who dreamt he'd gone to 2006 and seen a girl with a mobile phone ,!! Oooooooo.
As in the devils footprints? I really wanted to do that one before, but it's another story where there seems to be so little information for me to really get into a make a full episode out of it
This seriously just makes me want to go there and see it for myself! 😮🤯🤩 Absolutely loved this video/story! Why hasn't anyone lowered a camera and light down the hole!? No one is curious enough to want to know what's down the hole??
As far as I know you can't access the hole, I don't think the owners would want to risk doing it as they do seem to lean into the whole legends surrounding the castle for events
There is short story called “Hellmouth” by Giles Kristian that features this castle. A group of medieval mercenaries go into the castle looking for a lost priest. It is a great read. Highly recommend it.
Hey friend, I'm subscribed to your channel but for some reason I'm not getting your notifications. Just thought I'd mention it. Excellent video, btw. Your content is top shelf.🌹💜🌍
Yeah unfortunately this is happening quite a bit. I know someone in person who is subscribed and they'll get the notifications a day or two after the video goes out. Not sure there's anything I can do about it annoyingly.
@@TheTapeLibrary Right on my friend. It's all good. I've actually noticed it happening with other channels, too. Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. I hope the rest of your day goes famously.✌️🌹💜🌍
About that time travelling poet side note, at that time mobile phones that could play and record videos were quite common. Maybe not as common as nowadays but me and my friends had such phones around this time when we were kids. Not to mention that you could say even classic nokia 3310 had "moving pictures" in form of simple games or animations. So no matter if this story is fake or not i wouldn't say it's an error or a flaw in the story.
Yeah you are totally right, added that in because I knew I would get a lot of comments about smart phones otherwise. But yeah, it's certainly possible it's referring to some sort of mobile game or low quality video.
