It is intentional, this is what the US has done in the Middle East. They make people think they're animals who "hate your freedom", when they really just want retribution for all the atrocities committed and resources stolen. The US is definitely not the only country who does this, Russia's Wagner group does the same kind of things as the US based PMC Blackwater (Now called Academi)

They also refer to the bugs as "fascist", while possessing many of the traits commonly associated with fascism. Their "managed democracy" might not technically be "socialist" or "fascist", but it most certainly is a tyrannical totalitarian warlike state fueled by propaganda, and isn't that what we truly fault societies for rather than the peculiarities of their economics? How "free" can anything technically called a democracy be if you're not allowed to have unapproved opinions without being reeducated, where no one is really allowed to think about what they're voting for? Because even if 'managed democracy' isn't a sham, it prevents anyone from actually considering any particular issue.
Yea it’s pretty clear that the general is the real leader of earth. And it’s also pretty clear that the majority of the population are helldivers. They gain more territory and solve over population with helldivers. It explains why they are all in cryo sleep despite have faster than light travel.
