It wasn't only the u.s. Air Force this was also given to the US Army because when I used to live on Fort Hood( now Fort Cavazos) they gave these to a bunch of people that were being deployed in Afghanistan and my dad was one of those people who was given this game and he "didn't play games" and made that a joke that lasted for about 13 years but I remember it eventually being given to me that's how I know of this being a thing

I remember it so fondly. I played it on an Xbox at a Gaming Center, lounge with gaming setups and a PC area with good setups, all for rent at $5 an hour, 72 inch screens or PC. They had all the latest consoles and games, hosted tournaments and I even partook during Black Ops original release with the RCXD as the grand prize. Lockjns from 11pm to 7am. And during one of those lock-ins I played this game. I loved that experience.
Man, I sure did not expect to ever hear anyone speak about this game, I remember finding it on a modded xbox my dad had when I was younger, that transformation scene was goddamned horrifying. Good memories.
Dude fr the memories I have of the insanity that would unfold playing the infection game mode were unreal.. the level Bloodbath had these two rooms that were divided by a bulletproof glass wall and players would always hold up in those two rooms but they were dead ends as well and the absolute slaughter you would witness as players in the adjacent room would get overrun with infected players was unreal as you watched your teammates dwindle in numbers while you helplessly watch and await your own onslaught. Damn I miss those days
You forgot to mention that Cole is played by David Duchovny, Marilyn Manson played Edgar, Powers Boothe played the Major, and the ever present Nolan North was McCan (AKA, head get ripped of bookworm). It was a loosely based attempt at a reimagining of the arcade game.
I loved the hell out of Area 51 back on the PS2, felt like the closest thing to Halo since I wasn't much of an Xbox player at the time. The multiplayer was a ton of fun too, especially the infection type humans vs mutants mode. A shame the following game Blacksite: Area 51 was basically its own thing instead of a direct sequel though.
I didn't even look at the multiplayer option, I can imagine how fun that mode would've been. It reminded me of TimeSplitters a bit as well. I wonder what a direct sequel would've been, tracking down and killing the illuminati woulda be my first guess.
I actually tried playing Blacksite two times. Once on PS3, the other on PC. It didn't matter which version you picked, because the game was such a downgrade in every sense of the word, with a more generic and cliche plot with an in-your-face war on terror critique, bad framerates on console, and a rather lacklustre arsenal compared to its precursor. And as a connoisseur of Late-2000s FPS games like Call of Duty 4, Crysis, BioShock and even Turok 2008, Whenever people insult that era, Blacksite: Area 51 is usually what they're talking about. It's just so... Brown and bland.

I remember playing the demo over and over again until I could do the whole demo without getting hurt. Those were fun times when we got those Jampack demo discs. Now we're lucky if companies even release demos

As I watch these videos, I'm wondering if there are a bunch of viewers who have never played timesplitters and don't get that he's swapping the sound effects and inserting TS clips, especially with a game like this where the animation style is so similar. It always throws me off cuz I'm like wait what are the real game sound effects like haha XD
I was obsessed with this game and all its B-rated storyline. It was fun and i still remember charging into that last Gray that was standing in my way of escape, dual wielding two Assault Rifles. I also remember the handgun being almost like a god damn Magnum from Halo CE or was that just me lol

The SR-91 Aurora in the "Deep Underground" cutscene of the game is almost exactly similar to the real life descriptions and sightings of the real aircraft.
I still remember replaying the demo for this game off the mortal kombat deception disc. First part of this game was amazing, but i always dropped it after you turn into an alien. Great video! Keep up the good work.

This was a great watch, really cool seeing someone touch on this underrated gem. I always played the demo, as the demo and early versions of the game were going a different totally different direction, it’s like night and day! I have a few videos showing some discoveries I made through the years.

Man, seeing you cover all these really cool old Midway games makes me super sad they went under. They really were a quality studio with both some decent variety & mastery of certain games that almost always seemed to know what they were doing
btw Crispy was voiced by Spectacular Spider-Man himself Josh Keaton. Met him at a con a few months ago and I even mentioned Area 51 to him, he remembers it and working with Nolan North who was also in the voice cast
I remember in elementary school id play this game almost every chance i got on my ps2. So many memories 1v1ing friends and teaching them how to play. This game was such a big part of my childhood. I never beat the story though. Might have to dust off the ps2 and give it a go. The nostalgia hit so hard watching this video.
This has got to be my favorite game on the original Xbox, besides Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex So many memories of Christmas '03 of Crash and getting this game Area 51 as a present for my birthday ❤🎉
I remember mortal kombat (either deception or Armageddon) on the ps2 gave like a 20 minute trial of this game. I wish video games of today still promoted each other like that.
Oh my god!!!! As if other people know about this game! Still to this day I hold this game as one of my top 5 games of all time, I was like 12 when It came out played it on PS2, so glad I didn't fever dream it! I would love to play this again!

I remember seeing this game in a GameInformer magazine from GameSpot in the early 2000's, I got this game on release date and to this day it one of the best games I ever played. Underrated game
