I feel bad for Dan Heng now :< I used to really like Dan Heng in the past, but now there is way more other characters that I like, and I kinda forgot about him with time It's upsetting he went through so much :< Amazing video!! It is a terrifying place as a whole. Some of it is left up to speculation. So I do hope we get to learn more about this place We have been getting a huge cast of characters and Dan Heng did take a back seat for a bit. Great video! I do like the creepy atmosphere of the Shackling Prison, and how it ties into Chinese mythology. The Ten-Lords Commission in HSR is based on the Ten Courts of Yanluo, which are located in Diyu, the underworld in Chinese myth. To sum it up as simply as possible, the Ten Courts essentially judge how long a deceased soul must stay in Diyu before they can go through reincarnation. In that sense, you can equate the Shackling Prison to being the Xianzhou’s underworld since mara prevents them from dying, at least by ordinary means. That would certainly make sense of the multiple layers and different aesthetics of each layer. Also, for Blade’s enhanced basic attack being called Forest of Swords: in one of his character stories, we can read how he was killed over and over by Jingliu by her sword. I like to interpret it that just like how she sent Hoolay down into the Shacking Prison’s Forest of Swords after defeating him, she gave Blade/Yingxing the same severe punishment to teach him swordplay, which is why he adopted the name as his enhanced basic attack skill, where he does damage to himself in the process of attacking.
Yeah, the Shackling Prison doesnlook incredibly cool. I have always been a huge fan of these sort of anesthetics and I adore when video games incorporate these elements to their lore. I was also a huge of the Fyxestroll Garden. So I was hyped to see what awaited us at this new Location. Thanks for educating me about the Ten Courts in Chinese Mythology. That definitely sounds really cool. And I'll have a lot of fun looking more into it and learning about that. I do like that this particular Prison is underground while the other us high above the clouds in the Yaoqing which is a nice contrast. Also you are so right. It is ironic that Blade also had to endure such a thing from when he tried to get Jingliu to kill him in the past. The fact Jingliu essentially delivered these punishments to both of them seems like an interesting mirror. Him adopting the name would be a really cool explanation for it and I am all for it with him transforming that pain into something that aids in now.
@@ManCarSua As another dollop of irony in Blade's trace names, his Talent is named "Shuhu's Gift," after the Emanator of Abundance he (as Yingxing) and Dan Feng are implied to have used the flesh of to attempt to revive Baiheng, that some flesh now "gifting" him with infinite life.
On one hand Hoolay seemingly deserved eternity in prison, basically being hitler to the foxians, on the other hand why dont they just cryogenically freeze him or put him in stasis or something like that, it may feel good to keep him suffering but it seems unnecessary, also why does he need to be transfered between ships, that luterally only creates weak spots, just put Hoolay into a cell, seal it up for good and have there be like one area that is visited every 20 years to check if the cell is functioning, none of this eternal torment stuff that the Luofu seems to like.
Oh 100% Hoolay deserves the Eternal Prison Punishment. Though ideally it would be best to just execute him, but his healing factor is just too broken in lore for them to do that. Idk if they can put things in stasis. But I'd imagine Borisin with their fur would be more resistant to the cold. They always have been transfering internally every year. In this case of the ship transfer is because the Foxians do not the Loufu to keep Hoolay in check after the Ambrosial Arbor appeared. It is their mortal so they feared him escaping and they wanted to keep a closer eye on him. But that is essentially what freed him The Loufu just seems like "Oh we cannot kill it. Time to make it suffer until it can literally no longer move or hurt us"
Firstly, you can’t really be healed from mara struck. Instead of letting you become crazy and harming everyone, it is better to go to the prison. Remember how the Xianzhou go through go a dark age, and the Ten Lords commission kind of get them out of it.
It is true that currently there is no cure for becoming Mara Struck. It is said that the more one becomes stressed and suffers the quicker the whole process becomes. So, being sent to a Prison where you will be in awful living conditions, being retold every single life experience. Including the ones you have been stressing about that are making you become Mara Struck. That to be feels like is the problem. Once you are sent to jail you expedite your transformation Also, I will admit I forgot about the Cloud Knight Soldier from the Alchemy Comission who transformed and became insane quickly. I had freshly in my mind more the woman from Bailu's story and The guy in Xueyi's. Who still kept some conciousness before transforming fully

A thing i noticed: They mention at one point that trying to discuss Hoolay's guilt and or undermining it counts as Sowing Discord since his imprissonement is one of the core of the contract between Foxian and Xianzhou Natives. If incitement to riot is questioning Xianzhou authority then Sowing Discord is attempting to drive a wedge between the people A little theory of mine: The Xianzhou has deep ties with the Wuxia genre and even uses concepts and key words tied with it (Qi, Dantian, meridians...). In Wuxia, there is methods of torture than include using those concepts, like destroying the Dantian, Qi Deviation, Qi Blockage, acupuncture... So I think that our ideas of "torture" is rather limited compared to all the sorts of terrible things you can do in Wuxia world. Also, ice is associated with Yin energy, and fire with Yang. Another part of why there is an ice and fire part of the prison? Who knows.
Yeah, them having imprissoned Hoolay seems to be the main reason why Foxians and Xianzhou natives get along in the current day and age. So questioning that would mean a problem in their alliance. It starts to feel like a friendship made out of necessity rather than willingness when you mention it. Thanks for informing me about the Wuxia genre. That definitely sounds really interesting and I want to know more about it now. The ideas of ice and fire they added for the prison were really neat and I do like how it implements Yin and Yang in that way if that is the case. I can definitely see it in all honesty. Especially give how Jiaoqiu has that imagery I feel with his own ultimate I feel
8:23 Rules that handed to jiaoqiu by xuyei imply that hoolay doesn't have an option to talk to other prisoners i believe. They bring food in his cell, keep him on the deepest floor in the prison when only cell was his and he's capable of using pheromones that can make a person into his slave. I think it's safe to assume that judges would not allow him any interactions with other prisoners
That is true. But it does seem like they do transport him around. So I am not entirely sure. In the story they mention they haven't given him food in centuries though. But yeah, 0 interactions with Prisoners makes more sense as you say

I may be an Abundance apologist, but I feel like even the most hateful Pepeshi can agree that no one deserves to be "living" in conditions like this. Also, the Xianzhou Alliance falsely imprisoning people? Who could have guessed?
Maybe I just have a twisted mind, but hearing that somebody in the prison specializes in acupuncture makes me think that they use the needles to attack the central nervous system to cause excruciating pain to their victim. Or the Shackling prison has a doctor that uses it to help patients. Anyway that aurumaton is very interesting, especially since we just got a trailer that introduces all the Stone hearts and we find out that one of them is an intellitron. I think the only time we hear about her is from the simulated universes gold and gears update, so maybe she's trying to learn about the past to prevent another war from happening again or she'll be the one to cause a new war between humans and robots.
Nah because I too had that same thought. Like acupuncture can heal and be all good and dandy. But also, having extensive knowledge of pressure points and stabbing tools feels like a combination for absolute pain and torture. Like either they are an amazing doctor... or the prisoner's worst nightmare The Aurumaton mentioning specifically Intellitrons has made me a lot more interested in their lore. Thing about shackling prison that got me, was mention in the rules regarding visiting that anybody who would suggest that punishment of hoolay should be less violent or that he's innocent would consider a criminal and detained in shackling prison. And i mean hoolay is guilty he's a equivalent of Hitler to foxians but still you're going to torture me even if i said "forest of swords sounds tough geez" that s messed up
All I know, is that if they sentence Jingliu to life in the shackling prison and torture her, even though she had no control of her condition when she was Mara struck, I will officially boycott the xianzhou alliance and be plotting there down fall from that moment out 😳
Understandable. We know very little about the Shackling Prison so far, but I am interested to know what is going on there. But yeah, even if becoming Mara Struck is not the person's choice, they still get sent to this place. Which is rough ;-;
@@ManCarSua I don’t know that much Gold and Gears lore but perhaps someone is trying to run the Anti Organic Equation again? The aurumaton does say ‘prepare to annihilate all organic lifeforms’ which if I remember correctly is what the Equation causes all inorganic life forms to do.
There was an Ingenium uprising, it had nothing to do with Rubert, I'm pretty sure the machines just wanted equal rights, and the Xianzhou responded by taking away their sapience. They're still self aware, they just can only do what they're told.
I'm somewhat curious how did they come to the decision that Jing Liu could get a weekly day off her jail cell and if it was before she was escaped once or after she got caught another time...
As a whole it just seems interesting. Apparently the whole 13 Outstanding Accolades are cummulative. So he could get 13 Small deed for a Medium deed, 13 medium for a Huge deed And after 13 Huge deeds, he gets a single Outstanding Accolade. Which he has a total of 7 Small deeds at the moment and praises the Judges for their kindness
@@ManCarSua that's interesting I wonder if Jing Liu had to do that too but ngl as a whole i'm liking the Jing Liu rep, it's like they're lowkey foreshadowing her presence as a crux for future plans for the Xianzhou fleets but in the immediate time I'm somewaht curious what will Jioqiu do considering Jing Liu is supposed to be on the Xianzhou Yuque because their general is interested in her and Luocha's plan to kill an Aeon, I would have loved to see her deal with Hoolay herself but I feel like they'll put Feixiao on the forefront instead + the whole "she's on the Yuque" makes this most likely not to happen
I tried to look a bit into it, It appears to be extra incentives for the Prisoner to actually go out and behave. Jingliu did her 13 Accolades before she became mara struck and once she was exiled they took away her Sword Champion title and the Accolades she had done were essentially erased from history. But still, this essentially means that it is posed to him as an impossible task. For context, 3 of those 7 small deeds he did was: 1 for not trying to escape during Hoolay's Prison Break and 2 for Convincing 2 other inmates to not escape. Meaning that he literally was helping the guards and preventing chaos and he got 3 SMALL deeds. When Arma has never been violent and mentions he just wanted to be a shop keep back in Duran but because his father forced him into a raid he is now in the prison. So he still is at a 7/2197 progress into getting his first Accolade
Jesus, this show how skewed and rotten is the "Law" within the Luofu. And the fact they are using torture to keep them at bay is questionable at best, sure they are criminals, but shouldn't be a place to reform as well? The Luofu does LOVE creating their own enemies.
It has to do a lot with the concept of the hunt I feel. Since these are essentially zombies, but it does feel rough that some Denizens of Abundance do show sentience, to a certain extent, like Arma as a Borisin, or even heck even Luocha who verbally mentionsh he despises Yaoshi. It seems a lot of the law is very black and white. So either you are 100% in the right, or you are wrong I definitely feel bad for Arma who just wanted to be a merchant but got forced to be part of a raid and then he was punished to exist in the Grimfrost Hold, meaning that they do see him as a threat and want him to struggle against the cold there potentially
@@ManCarSua Exactly, Marshall Hua's law and the propaganda seems to make good job in brainwashing the population in having such "black and white" mentality against the Abudance. Adding about the tragedy about Hanya and Xueyi being Judges in order to pay their "sins" because falling to the Abudance. Or how Yinxing was thrown away into the wild like a wild animal and exiled from the Luofu, instead of finding a cure for his forced immortality. (?)
Yeah that part definitely doesn't sit well with me either. Like, Blade hadn't asked to become immortal as many other Denizens of Abundance. And the fact some still have some sentience is what makes it rough in that transition towards becoming fully Mara Struck. I also hadn't known well yet Hanya and Xueyi's lore, so thank you for enlightening on me it. I did find it a bit hypocritical that Xueyi essentially had become an immortal life form with her being an Auromaton now and transfering her consciousness between robots. So knowing now that they were actually sent there as punishment makes it all be even more screwed up. I do like that as time passes by, more people are questioning the law and are being more open minded about things in regards to the main cast at least given how Jing Yuan and Jingliu essentially became some of the first to go against this law
I had once compared the Zhuming's prisons to work camps, but it seems like the truth is so much worse. Actually, this has happened a lot. I make something up to make the Xianzhou look bad, I do some research, and it turns out that they either did exactly what I said they did or something even worse.
Yeah the Xianzhou has a lot of things that I feel are concerning when we look deeper into it, but that is like expected given they are a place that is at war, even though we see, for the most part, the nice areas
As far as I know. Luocha is at prison right now. That is why he doesn't show at the Express anymore. And also that scene at the end with Jingliu, they are at the Shackling Prison already
