I think it's so wild that when, even as a ghost writer, lovecraft manages not at all subtly to put his signature and aspects of his mythos all over these stories.

Of all the audio versions of this I keep coming back to this one. It's my favorite Lovecraft story but because of being ghost written I rarely see it, even in "Complete" editions. Lovecraft takes the very basic premise of "guy is dared to stay in a wax museum overnight" and creates a genuinely unsettling story of nameless horror nestled neatly within his own mythos.

@@maxredjasper55 right, it would lighten that whole rase issue too that ppl make out about lovecraft. I mean he has two white educated guys come out as crazy or ignorant. Bona is smart, classy, brave, and best of all for these stories foreboding. He should be played by Lance Reddick.
@joeyst-pierre6139

@Pornhub XHamster I mean not as a massive block buster type hit, but as a small lowbudget movie, it could be possible, you need 3 scenes, a "museum" (just a gallery space), a weird hole (easy to set up) and a street to run away. I think the most expensive thing would be to set up all the pieces of art necessary to give the museum its feel. "the color out of space" was reimagine and I'll be honest, it's a pretty great movie

@Vampiric Academia 1 I’m pretty far left, and I’m a massive Lovecraft fan. The guy’s profound racism doesn’t diminish his contributions to the artistic medium. Also, he was taking a strong interest in socialism and easing up on the weird reactionary bullshit shortly before his untimely death. I know tons of left wingers who are Lovecraft fans. Hbomberguy did an excellent video on it.

Honestly, it was silly to have Rogers be revealed as so wildly unhinged so early. He's ranting about sacrificing things to his new god while showing off a horribly mutilated dog carcasses and speaking ominously about worse things to happen soon, yet Jones is somehow just totally cool with the whole "stay overnight at the museum" plan? It's absurd.

I haven't really thought about this before but Lovecraft rarely wrote any dialogue, everyone usually monologues at the narrator or they have a summary description of what was said. It's actually weird hearing a full blown (albeit short) discussion. 😅 Is this part of his style or a style of the age he lived in?
