everything this person said is true. I used to work as moderator for nearly a year, everyday it felt like torture of expectation. what kind of imagery would come up next? what kind of bully that occurred online? the constant worry of making mistakes as moderator triggered a lot of my anxiety, I lost a lot of weight. the first few months were torture to me, I couldn't function like normal person. things got easier, but damn the content you saw really affected you at times.

I thought they have an AI system that will detect something like that but it turns out it was manual all the time. Man, the amount of moderators that suffered from PTSD. Worse cruel management

Those reminds me of the Internet in the early-to-mid-2000s where on a forum(even a generally tame one) or anything similar, people would post abhorrent things and edgy teenagers would feel “cool” and “mature” for looking at remarkably obscene or graphic stuff, even though it churned their (our, let’s be honest) stomachs deep down. It’s crazy to think it all still happens.

This is what Image AI should be used for. To save people from these traumas.

My heart goes out to you and all of your fellow moderators. I know I would have great difficulty doing your job. There are some very disturbed people out there that you have to see. God bless you. Also, you are not informers. Your job is necessary.

I erase my FB account long time ago, it was disturbing me in so many ways. My life has become way better after that.

I remembered like 15 years ago, FB not very well moderated, and some of the very disturbing video had been leaked out, those videos are so terrifying, I still remember til these days.

Working as a moderator was one of the most rewarding jobs i ever had people thanked me for saving lives and acting accordingly to their plights people make the job as doom and gloom as possible but youre a social media janitor this is your responsibility to keep people safe

I suppose there are prices to pay for every job in the world and most of the time is separating your work and personal life. By that I mean mentally. Which is exactly why for example, doctors gotta be cold hearted and robotic on the inside. Such a sad world we are living in where not only physical energy is needed but mentally too where everything is just getting worsed.

It sucks that while you may only see the funny and adorable puppy videos, others are ONLY seeing the worst the internet has to offer. A few years ago I made the worst mistake of my life at the time, it was going into the deep / dark web and just scrolling through the media. It is TERRIFYING how dark the internet can be and literally EVERYTHING of even the most disturbing scenarios is on there, waiting to be found. From random bloody crime scenes to straight-up cartel de-noggins. You are also facing reality, that this isnt a movie with fancy digital graphics, this is REAL, with real people, who had dreams and ideas. I can understand what this person must have experienced for 8 hours a day several days in a row.

I'm in my late twenties and I remember I used to watch these kind of videos from time to time in some random websites like a lot of teenagers I know. I didn't know any better and that PTSD is a thing.. now I'm too anxious and tired.. even I'm unemployed I cannot accept such a job. I'd either die from a heart attack or a sickness or I'll harm myself. I simply cannot see this sh!t everyday, and I don't think that normal and emotional people can either.

Premise: I'm Muslim and i don't care if you don't believe me, lol. "it's really difficult" yeah mate, I perfectly understand how much sick things you and moderators of other socials must have seen and without any preparations. But I'm still angry of what they have been said to put out, cause they're pulling out things like "oh my! !!! a nipple on a art page !!!" and that gets taken out. While I've seen a post of a person that was trying from months to let a filter getting banned. And that filter (with various versions) says something like " My prophet, my honor, defend Muhammad !!" with blood color and sometimes flames burning up various flags. I've seen myself that filter getting put after terrorists attacks ( especially things related to Hebdo) like saying "I don't think they did wrong, we have to defend our religion's honor by doing everything in our possibilities"... its those sick things that help xenophobia outside muslim majority countries; STOP PUTTING THOSE SICK THINGS AND BEHAVE LIKE A GOOD HUMAN AND MUSLIM. So basically most of the times moderators are futile, they take out "controversial" things, while they might be innocent or simple freedom of expression... but let stay filters saying "yeah, let's burn that country, cause he disrespects my fragile ego" . They should find a way to make socials by themselves took out things of there's violence in them or too much cursing words or something similar...If you let moderators from place to place decide, it's obvious that it'll be money to decide what is to be put out and what not...

I thought this is just nonsense but after working with Facebook for 6 months, everything he said was just true. I just resigned last month and am still recovering mentally and emotionally. I am sometimes, one a day, having suicidal thoughts. Currently, jobless because I am not yet well. I hope things would go better.

Censoring people 🤣🤣 Dogs being bbq'ed videos are horrible but it's a normal occurrence in China. People spreading it are doing a service, this is what is actually happening and media won't ever mention it.
