@@footballtomorrow9343 not so much forgotten as lost **SPOILERS BELOW** All those who knew or might have known (Rhaenyra, Daemon, maybe Jacaerys if Rhaenyra had time to tell him) die before they get the chance to pass it on to the next potential heir. Even then, the prophecy lingers (at least in the books) because Rhaegar is said to have had some knowledge of it ("the prince that was promised" and all that). Maybe the Targaryen dreamers had similar dreams to Aegon I?

I think these scenes are just as if not more compelling than the battle scenes

Agreed, it's great symbolism and a great way to compare how people fought their battles back in this sort of era.

I haven't seen any show or movie make me feel this way about pregnancy and birth. It is gross, disgusting and painful for the mothers. The writers intended for us to feel uncomfortable and I definitely felt that, but I also felt sympathy for the mothers. That's a hard balance.

Cutting Joffrey's birth would result in showing three deadly labours and no succesful one. Honestly, as a book reader, I was dissapointed they did not show that much of mourning. It is impied that Rhaenyra wanted to have a daughter, and the fact she gave her stillborn daughter a name supports it. I wanted her to be able to have one scene in which she would cry over the fact she wanted Visenya for so long... even more, that she wanted to show her to Viserys... perhaps with Daemon. It would also make their argument better in my opinion. For example Daemon claiming that greens must pay for their daughter's death and Rhaenyra wondering if he truly cares or if it's just an excuse for murders.

Crazy to remember all the hate she and alicents new actor got when they took over for their younger counterparts

I thought she was already strong in episodes 6, 7 and 8 but this episode cemented her as the perfect casting choice and when she wore that crown, she looked so much like Viserys

Name one other show where the villain is a spoiled fifteen year old king and I might agree with you. So far I don’t think Joffrey was a stereotypical villain, he was just an asshole in power raised by a bitch in power. Marvellous character he was. The only stereotypical villain was the Night king. He was a very black-and-white destructive character lacking a clear motivation and depth.

Stereotypical doesn't mean that he's a copy paste of some other villain. Yes, the Night King was even more stereotypical than Joffrey, but also Joffrey was cruel for the sake of being cruel, there was no other redeeming quality for him, no developement in his character, he was just there doing shit and being hated for this, without any real developement, while other villains in the series were more nuanced, they developed the reason for what they did, while he was just there throwing tantrums between evil acts, even the ones he wasn't responsible for (like when he said he wanted to serve the head of Robb Stark as a wedding gift to Sansa) It's not a fault on the actor (Jack Gleeson was amazing, only praise for him), but this is how I feel about Joffrey, he started bad and ended bad, but even his bad didn't escalated in something more, he was a full-developed asshole with under developed background from start to finish

Some people seem to forget that magic and prophecy is an important aspect in A Song of Ice and Fire, because that's one of George's themes, who is working on HOTD. In Game of Thrones the show on the other hand, D&D didn't care about magic and prophecy because they felt it didn't appeal to the masses. So I feel that bringing the prophecy back is George leaving behind the atrocity that D&D created, getting back on track.

I read the book too and it’s not really different… George R R Martin said himself, the maester who has written down the story isn’t always to be trusted and since he wasn’t always there and a lot things were written down from hearing about it or rumours the book is not always accurate

The books are 2nd and 3rd hand accounts of what happened, the show gives you a look into what actually happened with the characters and how they felt.

completely agree! It's a brave choice and the right one, people will cheer at people getting stabbed in the head and violence but a few birthing scenes and people feel uncomfortable. It's how we all ended up here everyone! I think this show as you said does a fabulous job on showing a spotlight on the danger all people in history have faced be it war or childbirth ( or sickness in Visery's instance poor guy.) Feels good as a woman to see a show presenting the sacrifice and danger a woman puts herself in to have children.

I personally have been SO delighted by the birth scenes! All so different, yet equally raw, emotional, and powerful. Our main characters are women and not showing us these life-changing labors of theirs would be injustice to the characters. I'm personally quite tired of battle sequences and this change of perspective has been so very welcome. 👏

Yep. I remember fighting with a bunch of Daemon fangirls that were claiming he was ruined for choking Rhaenyra 🤣 the guy is cool af and all. I like him very much, but he is flawed and they refuse to accept their fave can be problematic. On the other hand we had a bunch of edgys crying bc their edgelord Aemond is not a fully psychopath (yet) and can actually feel remorse for fucking it up with Lucerys.

No it's in character but your reasons are senseless the show sets up the song of ice and fire as something that's passed from king to future king/queen and when Rhaenyra tells this to him he realizes Viserys never wanted him to be his successor also that Daemon just lost his brother and she's blabbing on about the song of ice and fire and forcing him not to fulfill his violent impulsive urges so he instead faces his violent urges to her and chokes her one thing we are shown is that he sees these dreams as delusions and weakness

agreed, the struggles of women can be just as interesting as the struggles of men and as a man myself i find it really interesting how HotD shows these intense and personal moments, it makes the world feel even more real and i love it.

I think the interplay of the personal & the political is one of the more intriguing elements in this 'fantasy show'

I also hope they don't reduce the politicking the way Dumbarse & Dipsh*t did, just to make way for spectacle- a major part of the war was focused on them gaining allies- & we're now expanding the world, as Jace goes to the Vale, the Riverlands & North. I would **love** to see White Harbour- don't mistake me; I'm hyped as hell for Winterfell & the Starks, but I've always wanted to see what 'the North's only city' gets to look like- given I loved the book description we got...

I don't want epic battles. I want clever writing ABOVE ALL.

I know, that budget needs doubling, or tripling tbh. SO MUCH MORE is happening next season, and I don't want for all the budget to go to the battle sequences. I still want for the costume design to look eyegasmic, for the locations to be gorgeous, for multiple units to be shooting simultaneously. I want the show to still retain all of its good qualities in addition to the "very expensive and VFX heavy" sequences which are, not for purposes of exaggeration, integral parts of the story.

@@samf.s8786 I'm curious just _how many_ units they will split into, because the war was *all over the place* with its' multiple theatres, & a ton of interesting events & **fascinating** characters - there was very little in the way of neat division in this conflict; the Reach in particular was split- which I found interesting - hell, even Hightower's _own bannermen_ took different sides (you can guess House Beesbury wasn't keen to fight under the people who'd murdered a loyal old man of their house...) - & there's also a kinsman to a certain present-day GoT figure, who'd recently married into the Hightowers- but her family were on the opposite side, & she has conflicting loyalties {I'm wondering how/ if they'll address her later issues with her stepson...} - & the Tyrells who remained neutral for most of the war. Then there's the Riverlands, probably the heaviest area of fighting - the Vale- which was already dealing with its' own problems before the war kicked off, & was basically the conflict in microsome; Jeyne's succession crises would persist even after the Dance was over - the journey of the Northmen, 'the Winter Wolves' under Dustin- after Cregan & Jace agree the Pact of Ice & Fire - the loose alliance of the Red Kraken to the Blacks' cause (which again, becomes a problem once the Dance ends) - even foreign forces played a part. I understand that some streamlining will need to occur, but this was a wild & messy conflict- with some strange intertwining of houses & individuals & loyalties - I kind of think they should depict that honestly. I'm hyped to meet people like: the Lads, Black Aly- Dalton Greyjoy, & of course, the Starks of this time - I just want the compelling story I read in 'Fire & Blood', & I really don't think we deserve to get short-changed in this. They've had more than a couple of pacing issues with this first season, but they have the source material to guide them- it can't be that hard....

I haven’t read the book and I’m assuming that’s where the 1 bond at a time thing comes from. But even in the books dany has 3 dragons? Could say it’s because all the dragons “imprinted” on her at the same time. That’s the only thing I can think of

Of course she didn’t deserve it. I think what was meant to be said is that Daemon is very impulsive and that his Actions in that State don’t necessarily reflect his actual Feelings. And Tempers and Feelings are definitely up on both. Daemon lost his Brother whom for all their Difference he loved and their Child. Same for Rhaenyra and she has the added Struggle of being Queen now. If that Situation wouldn’t make People overreact i don’t know what would.

I agree. Saying she "deserved it" had me immediately click off the video. As a woman who has been strangled by an abusive ex it was a gut punch to hear someone say that on a channel I've watched frequently. It’s pretty accurate to the book as well. If there’s one thing fire and blood loves other than talking about mushroom’s weird ass interpretations for events, it’s the amount of miscarriages women have and the amount of women that die in childbirth
