Definitely! I suspect Russell might even be the reason cross string trills got a mention. His recent recording of the second lute suite by Bach was a Masterclass in cross-string trills.
Hey Sam, I recently got into making classical guitar content. And I really enjoy your videos where you talk about stuff. You are WAY more entertaining than the guys over on many of the other guitar video platforms. While I leave still learning something and entertained. Big inspiration!
I have a very bad habit of arpeggios on every chord Even if It doesn't seem like I'm doing it I do it so fast but.....I'm in a habit of doing it now it's going to be hard to get out of. Sam knows his stuff though, he's taught me SO MUCH this past year. I've learned alot of songs from him too that's made me such a better player. Dance of pales Wood carvings Mario 2 overworld theme The list goes on. His Patreon page is so worth the money too
I don't even know what a rest or a free stroke is, man; but, this video is raining down all kinds of knowledge on me! We're talking S tier video skills here.
There's recently been an upsurge in the use of ponticello, which I'm surprised you didn't include. All through 2019 and 2020 tasto reigned supreme, but this is now being overturned, leading to a more sweet, piano sound. I'm glad you decided to include rest strokes, though, as they make glissandos sound way more sforzando.
RANDOM REQUEST- (NES) LOW G MAN- CHAPTER 2 or, boss music, or, any chapter, or, all chapters and all boss music. also, ive solved your rest vs free stroke dilemma: RESTING FREE STROKES!! or, freely rested strokes. the possibilities are almost endless.
Can you do a video giving more examples and maybe some exercises on how to perform these techniques? That was I can impress all the qts at the park who run with their dogs.
3:19 Played only free strokes for the las 24 years, doesn't block me from shredding! ...and you absolutely need to attack the strings with all your might, that is true. Better? Nah, different, still fun though.
I have a song request that I think you would be amazing at covering but if you don't that fine we all get buisy. Megamall dr wilys revenges cut man stage
Personally, I don't believe in getting rid of any voicings. Each one helps you express a musical language. You're just limiting yourself when you do it.
