In a novel that reads like nonfiction, two girls find love at the end of adolescence and the beginning of adulthood. The choices made with that newfound love lead to consequences neither imagined and in the end, they must fight for their destiny and future, alone or lonely.

Great review! I haven't read this book yet but will check it out. This story hits home for me. My mother was sent to one of those homes in D.C. in the 1960s and gave her baby up for adoption. It was a Catholic home called St. Ann's. She said it was a traumatic experience and her family never spoke of it again. She didn't tell me and my siblings until we were adults. My siblings and I found our brother thanks to Ancestry DNA. I was surprised that no one else in the family raised the child which is what usually happens in the Black community. I cried for my mother when she shared her story.

I loved the manner in which the book review was conducted. The two ladies who handle this podcast know how to hold the attention of their audience, which includes me, of course. I particularly enjoyed the history about the real homes that existed for the unwed young women in tough predicaments and the roads they had to take, to achieve a better life. I give this show a Five Star rating.

You guys are saying her name wrong. She pronounces her name as sadeQUa even though there’s no qu.

I just finished this book and I absolutely loved the characters. I’m totally crushing on William❤ Thanks for the review! I liked how you to shared the story. I smiled along with you guys as I had the same emotions reading. The connection at the end of the book both worried and excited me. I’m going to miss the characters.

Great read but, its a little confusing. Im in chapter 46 . Sometimes the book sounds like its recent years. While they were preparing for the baby, she was mentioned something about REVIEWS, as if internet was around AVOCADOS , waking up to coffee, when she took off to her mum's stopping for coffee....

02/08/2024: I purposely included the date of this Comment, because this is the day I "happened" upon your Podcast for the very first time, and I am SOOOOOO......glad I did! Bishop T. D. Jakes, whose Ministry I am an avid follower of, preached a Sermon once titled, "Nothing Just Happens," and I truly believe it to be the case here. Three years ago, I met an up and coming local Author/Poet (Carrie Alston Banks, who also writes under the pseudonym "Sharon Jeter") at her job and for the past three years, she has graciously gifted me with free copies of four of her initial published works, "Do You Really Know Camille" (Her first Novel, written under her pseudonym, Sharon Jeter), "Still Dancing," (a magnificent book of Poetry, Carrie Alston Banks), "Get Naked With Me," Sharon Jeter (another awesome Book of Poetry), and a set of memos to herself in a Book entitled, "Note to Self, Love Notes for the Woman I'm Becoming," PLEASE, PLEASE, pick up a copy of one or all four of these wonderful, well written Books! You will NOT be disappointed! In fact, if the entire reason for my "discovering" your Podcast today was so that I could introduce you to works by Carrie Alston Banks, a very talented writer, I feel so privileged to do so.
