Is Columbus, Ohio the most important city in U.S. Soccer History?
Many cities claim to be ‘SoccerTown, USA’ -- however for a community that boasts the first soccer specific stadium in MLS, a winning tradition for the U.S. National Team, and the first team to be ‘saved’ -- The Columbus Crew have had many historic moments. The Crew will add to that history with the opening of their new Stadium, Lower.com Field, and for this MASSIVE club - the future looks bright.

@@reece5730 yeah man. i have been a huge Chelsea fan for many years and big EPL watcher, but lately ive been watching much more MLS. im really enjoying it, and the fact these are our clubs in our own back yards in our own country makes it that much sweeter to me! needless to say, especially after Charlotte FC starts play next season MLS will be my most watched league by far!

Soccer has come a long way here in America. 10 years ago the league had 16 teams and half of them were playing in football stadiums.

Just you wait. 2026-27 is MLS break out year. They’re going to have the World Cup and Salary Cap is going up big time. We’re already seeing MLS teams get results against Mexican teams ATL UTD, Toronto a few years back and LAFC when they played tigres in the final of CCL. Now imagine that LAFC team with double the money! Now MLS teams are going to be able to spend more on DEFENSE not just attacking players.

@@LilRedRasta not to mention the MLS is going to renew their TV contract from when they were minor leagues basically. The MLS is apparently going to be expanding across like 4 new channels and will be streamed on 2 new platforms I just don’t know what

I am a TFC die hard but happy for you guys - Remember 2016 playoffs speaking to your fans about saving the crew - Happy you guys saved the club got a new stadium and moving forward now- I will say this we miss Bezbechenko so much he was a huge part of our club and success -

I hope they have saved room to add a few seats in the near future. 20K maybe be a starting point right now. But it shouldn't be the long term standard. 5-10 years 25-30K should be the lower standard for top league clubs.

Probably very unlikely given it would mean having MLS seasons during the same time as NFL, NBA, and NHL, and then there'd be no way MLS would get any kind of TV coverage

Anywhere Caleb Porter goes he wins. Turns a no name Akron soccer program into D-1 champions. Inherits a terrible bottom of the league Portland Timbers and won the MLS championship just after 2 years of being HC. Not sure why the Timber’s owner and GM couldn’t come to an agreement to remain the HC but after 4 years he went back to Ohio (so followed Nagbe whom has been connected at the hip with Porter) and did the exact same thing he did in Portland and then did it with he Crew. Being a Timber fan myself, I can assure you it’s the worst and most unexplainable decision the Timber’s have ever made by letting Porter leave.

Having been in the stadium, its night and day compared to the dump off 71. It's absolutely beautiful and will be extremely loud,not a bad seat anywhere,very close to the pitch.

And? This is a beautiful stadium with beautiful facilities. Not comparable to some crap stadium with a similar capacity. Guess what? 2nd division teams in America even have similar stadium capacities. Louisville City's brand new (also very beautiful) stadium holds 12,000 with expansion up to almost 16,000.

@@ejyounggun08 that's probably the reason Louisville doesn't go to MLS he's right, I love the MLS but this under 25K stadium thing needs to end, you can't build a stadium that has the capacity of an NBA or NHL arena, I bet Knicks, Lakers, Maples Leafs, Rangers, Blackhawks would play in a 40K arena if they could, but these sports weren't designed for that. If you don't think you can have a 25K crowd, go to the USL, that's your place (I love the league too)

AFC Bournemouth 11,000. Burnley FC 20,000. Watford FC 20,000. Crystal Palace 25,000. & before you say "tHosE aRe ThE SmALLest CluBs." Atlanta United (MLS) is top 10 in the world for average attendance. The only English clubs above them are Man United & Arsenal. Premier League stadiums are hurt from having no standing room/rail seating in their stadiums, although I think Wolves has it now, and other clubs like Man City and Man Utd might be getting it too. Either way, Bundesliga should be the model for stadiums and fan experience, not the Premier League

@@JoyStickASMR if you take an average of all the 2021-2022 premier league stadiums it's an average of about 40K+ which is the same thing as MLB, I love MLS but they can't build these mini stadiums, 30K should be the minimum, I don't give a damn if it's going to fill up or not, at least do it. you have to consider the population as well.
