Interesting fact about one of the lines in the song. “10 of us will strike as thunder, 100 of us will shatter your hearts, 1000 of us will destroy and obliterate, 10k of us will hand you the wrath of heaven”, these are the unit increments of Chinggis Khaan’s Golden Horde. The phrase “hand you the wrath of heaven” is from a supposed quote from Chinggis Khaan…as the story goes a King defeated by Chinggis asked why they were basically wiped out, to which Chinggis responded “I am the Wrath of Heaven, if your sins weren’t so great God wouldn’t have sent me to destroy you”, or something like that.

I played this song several times and then I noticed a bird fall out of a tree nearby,so I went to investigate. Saw that a caterpillar had been listening to this song and the bird tried to get him as lunch, but the caterpillar jumped the bird and threw it out of the tree.

A Blue Maned Lion is the Snow Lion which is a mythical animal that resides in the Eastern Himalayas. The Snow Lion has a youthful, vibrant energy and a natural sense of delight. Its fur is pure white and its flowing mane is the color of Tibetan turquoise. The Snow Lion symbolizes fearlessness and victory over all obstacles.

The Instrument you were so fascinated with is called the Morin Khuur or “Horse Head Fiddle”, if made traditionally the 2 “strings” (Male & Female) are made from the hairs from a horse’s tail (to bind the instrument to the player the hairs must come from the player’s horse), the Male string has 150 hairs and the Female string has 130 hairs. A sign of a Master Morin Khuur player is mimicking a near realistic horse’s neigh or whinny with the instrument.

I've seen the Hu in concert twice at small theatres. It was the best! I love their cover songs and collaborations with mega rock stars as well. If you want to go further down the old + new styles mix with music (similar to the Hu) check out Skald. Their cover of Seven Nation Army is a good intro. They play at metal concerts like the Hu as well. :)

Haha watched this way back in 2019 straight away, put it together, Mongol leader on horse, motorbikes, the golden horde, and you are right, watched heaps of early reactions, most had no clue, even knowing it was a Mongolian band, me, the word Mongolian brings to mind, one thing Chinggis Khan, l have 6 cats, Chinggis, Borte & Muujgai are 3 of them, Chinggis is Genghis Khan, Borte was his 1st wife & Muujgai means Kitty in Mongolian, the other 3 are Tamjee, Sara & Sally

Mongolian babies are usually born with blueish birthmark at the base of the spine. This birthmark usually disappears over time but this might the origin of the reference to "lions with blue mane".
@adamnichol6761
@adamnichol6761 Год назад
The lyrics to this are derived from a poem by feared Mongol leader Genghis Kahn, and I think (but may be wrong) that these aren't auto-translate but posted by the band. I'm not sure what a blue mane lion is though. The Mongols and their ancestor cousins The Huns are the reason that for a good couple of centuries, from China to Rome, the phrase "Look mommy, a man on a pony" was about the worst thing you could hear

Actually, the lyrics are taken from a poem written at the beginning of the 17th century by Mongolian Prince Tsogt-Khun-Taij (1581-1637), a direct descendent of Genghis Khan/Chinggis Khaan, who died 18 August 1227. The animals and mythical creatures mentioned are applied metaphorically and refer to the necessity for a strong defense against all invaders.

re the lion. from Wikipedia. The Snow Lion (sometimes spelled snowlion; Tibetan: གངས་སེང་གེ་, Wylie: gangs seng ge; Chinese: 雪獅) is a celestial animal of Tibet. It is the emblem of Tibet, representing the snowy mountain ranges and glaciers of Tibet,[1] and may also symbolize power and strength, and fearlessness and joy, east and the earth element.[2][3] It is one of the Four Dignities.[4] It ranges over the mountains, and is commonly pictured as being white with a turquoise mane.

It's not about going to war! - It is more like; Don't mess with us, then we obliterate you!. - There are many layers to it though, as the Protector, the Garuda is involved also. - It's very old and it have both old culture and deep roots into Buddhism also. - If your view is towards eternalism, you are totally wrong. If your view is towards nihilism, you are even more wrong. - Not only do you have to wrap your head around what Buddhism really is about, you also need to know some history from that time. The whole Khan history and certainly not the way Khan is portrait in the western history books. - One line in the song give a very important clue: If you come with bad intention, we will obliterate you and together with the rest, it also states that, no matter how the enemy appear, it will be met by the correct antidote. - Genghis Khan was not the only Khan. Some of them had a very close and strong relations with some of the greatest Buddhist masters at that time. - The average Joe have no clue about what the text is about. Even a beginner on the Buddhist path like me, who have studied and practiced for 25 years, still have long way to go, before really getting all the details right. - It is so much more deep and profound than you can imagine. - Together with many of the other comments, I hope you get a feel, that this is so much more than you can understand. I will actually say; It is a great blessing that you even get to hear it! But it takes a razor sharp mind and very openminded person, to get that understanding. - Glad you liked and enjoyed it though! 😎❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏

Very interesting reaction to this very tribal song. BTW, this captioning is professionally translated, An auto-translated one would be full of grammatical absurdities and often nonsensical wording. Our culture may not be familiar with the phrase "lion of blue mane," but I suspect Khan's horde would have known what he meant, even if poetic or allegorical.
