It's typical that the big Oil & Timber Companies don't give a shit for the Huaorani People & their Life Style, money counts & they do not, not that these companies will ever admit to taking what they shouldn't. The wishes of the Huaorani must be respected & they be left alone.
So since you can grow manioc in quite a few places in the US, I'll just share this little cooking method in case you want to try it. It's not as hard as you think, but it's toxic raw. Just cook it completely through like you would potatoes, until it's soft. It takes a bit longer. You want to cut them up a lot so you can leach all the toxin out easier. Then dump the water out and rinse them off. That's it, you don't have to boil multiple times. Then you season it after you cook it. Or add it with beans, it's awesome with lentils. You can grow it throughout Florida, here it's called cassava , and in Cuban recipes they call it yuca with one c and a long U, don't confuse it with yucca the flower. It's good stuff, try it. Edit, a friend of mine said you can grow it in Georgia and Tennessee too, but you have to add sand. It'll tolerate clay, but it likes sand with it. Full sun. Long summers. Hot. So the whole Gulf coast. You could probably grow it in Europe in places that meet that description.
I spend almost two weeks with this tribe. Recognize most af them. An incredible time with our very young daughter who just played and swam in the river with the children. Just our 3 person family, a guide, a boatman and a cook. The only way you can get to them ! At least 14 hours in canoe from the nearest village. Our guides loved to stay with the huaoranis for so long because normally they would just visit them for one day. Think it was in 2008. Has never forgot it. They are incredible people with Penti as a leader. A man very aware of their culture and influence from the outside world. Wonder how their lives are today.........
@@maximebaron254 Thank you so much. I´ll find him. Our daughter saw the video and suddenly remembered a lot of things from our visit, Buya - one of the Indians sold me his quiver of poisoned arrows so he could pay for his wife to go to the hospital. I payed for the treatment. When we came home I realised I had brought 50 curare poisoned arrows as hand luggage.......Went well. If I put the tip of my tongue on one of the arrows I can't feel my tongue for 30 minutes.
@@wvideoyahoodk Amazing. Thank you for sharing your experience. As close to actual freedom as still enjoyed by dwindling numbers in a world that runs based on ever growing mass consumption. Fantastic.
One thing to learn from them is how they respect their women. They clearly don't insult women with their body parts, hence they don't fear showing skin. Perhaps this shapes them with no repressed emotions, which usually leads to violent behaviour later in their lives. They are in a perfect system each having a role and it's all team work and bonding. That's life!
its more a case that hunter gathers arent sedentary. They are constantly on the go for food and survival. When you have a society which has learned advance farming and agriculture you then have a population which isnt solely focused on survival and can now find form more ideologies and societal norms etc. to dwell on.
These tribe are the first who take care the land, may the almighty bless each and everyone and the government in the region look back to preserve their customs and tradition.
It amazes me how some of the men in this tribe are seriously muscular. Like if they did calisthenics or went to the gym, but it's all due to their natural lifestyle of rowing, climbing, walking long distances and hunting. Much respect to these wonderful people!
Plus their food and air quality is WAAAY different than ours, so it probably helps their bodies develope stronger due to the very physical life. The 63 year old lady looks more shredded than I'll ever be. Also most of those people seem to have a lot of healthy, evenly distributed fat. They're working and they be eating for sure.
Thanks to God these Indians were converted by missionary priests by force that decimated their culture, lifestyles and bringing in plaque and diseases that decimated their population.. hmmm
About ten years ago I stayed with some the guys in this video in the Intangible zone, they were the most wonderfully happy and fun community I’ve ever met. The shit the oil companies have pulled on them is disgusting; deliberate spills, harassment, intimidation and worse. One day we’ll realise what we are steamrolling as we continue to industrialise.
We should have realized long ago. "Civilized" people are narcissistic, arrogant, proud, confident, audacious, arrogant, hypocritical, artificial, synthetic, false, calculating, materialistic, mean, possessive, expassive, collinialist, imperialist. They will never show remorse, humility. , feelings of guilt, they will never apologize for the harm they have done, for damage, for their destructiveness, harmfulness and devastation, because they have no sense of responsibility, scruples and remorse
the mosquitos are unlike what one would encounter in normal life, they even bore thru mud if you put it on body to protect, how do the tribes cope with them? Ive researched how do natives survive m-bites but all I found is the claim that if you ignore the biting, it wont itch. I tried it, Im in Louisiana, it doesnt work, they bite the hell out of you and it itched horribly. How do they stand it? Theyre naked for God's sakes!
I guess their bodies adapt to the climate because I stayed with some Buddhist monks in the jungle in Thailand and I suffered terribly with the heat and extreme humidity and I at least had a fan in my bamboo hut. I always wondered how people could take it before electricity, just sitting there dripping in sweltering heat. They heat isn't actually the problem, it's the humidity. It's like being covered I a hot wet blanket.
We don't stay in the hut during the day because it's feel like being steamed inside, old Thai house are lift up off the ground a level, leaving the ground floor empty and they put bench or (I don't know the English word, a knitted fabric that look like fish net, you hang it from one pole to the other and took a nap in it) and stay down their during the day if you don't got anywhere to go or to do. Nobles and royalty have a balcony where air could flow on the second floor and a slave or servant to fan them manually.
Still we can see how early humans were managing to live...and the fine example is just by remain attached to nature...i strictly condemn deforestation....there should be a strong interpersonal law to protect jungles from pollution and deforestation...we can't stand alone without nature as we are the part of it...so devlopment along with respecting nature is healthy for all... scientific devlopment is must rather than blindfold exploitation... 👍
We in the western world can learn a lot from these people in how to live in harmony with our environment and preserving it rather then destroying it. The knowledge of pharmacology of the shaman is remarkable!
See what kind of cooperation, community, symbiosis, equality, solidarity, fraternity, unity, respect, openness, loyalty, faithfulness, sincerity, honesty, spontaneity, peace of mind and self-control, care and protection, devotion and sacrifice, joy of the moment are there. They have nothing to hide from them, no secrets. Nobody lies or cheats, because there is no need, no business. There is no politics, no economics, no banks, no pressure on profits, no rat race, no slavery, no exploitation, no tyranny, because no one is greedy there. Nature is ruled by indispensability, minimalism, necessity and the need to survive. You don't need to attack anyone and take their belongings. Nobody takes a loan, does not need bureaucracy / administration, license, licenses, approvals, permits, certificates, approvals
@@golpyson you can live with nature without being almost naked and risking your life at least once everyday to hunt or gather food. There's always a reason why the majority of people live in modern societies rather than these primitive lifestyles. The best we can make out of these people who got stuck in the primal stages of human progress is to conduct studies to understand more of our past.
While Indigenous Peoples own, occupy, or use a quarter of the world's surface area, they safeguard 80 percent of the world's remaining biodiversity. They hold vital ancestral knowledge and expertise on how to adapt, mitigate, and reduce climate and disaster risks. Source: World Bank
but theyre at the mercy of asteroids and will always be without us...seems silly but one 4 times as long as empire st building and going 8 times faster than a bullet just passed us by...wouldve destroyed the planet, missed us by only couple million miles which is damn close in space terms. This fall we will find out if we can change asteroid trajectories when we purposely crash a ship into an asteroid, it's been on its way to the asteroid for couple of yrs, not a threatening one, it's just being used for an experiment.
“Keep your face always toward the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you.” - Walt Whitman “Mantén tu rostro siempre hacia la luz del sol, y las sombras caerán detrás de ti”. - Walt Whitman
We hadn't even noticed our shadows yet... our group learned and acquired the habit of meditating, each individually, by the sea with their faces always turned to the sunlight!
Their intelligence and wisdom when it comes to understanding the power of the plants is truly remarkable! This video didn’t even cover the way these people keep all of the biting and stinging and blood sucking insects away! If you or I spent a week in their village we would be eaten alive by the insects but they know exactly what plants to use for whatever is trying to eat them! I’ve heard that a shaman from these rainforests literally said that the plants speak to them. I not only appreciate their wisdom but I’m also a little envious of their lifestyle and the connection they have with their place on earth. These are the people that will continue to live after “the end of days”!! If there is ever a mass extinction event in the future, these people will hardly notice…
Hi. Actually the end is quite în sight. Not here to bring more sadness or anything like that. I wish it werent true, only because of the general suffering of all beings present on the planet right now. I am glad that things will never be the same and people and hopefully all other beings will never have to suffer. I think that they do hear the plants. Many people have closed their receptors but we do have them. Just go out in nature and pay attention to what feelings and thoughts you get. The more you do it the more you will be surprised. When you get a feeling of stopping în your tracks, do it. Look around carefully, watch and soon you will see that there is some being watching you. Maybe a deer, rabbit who knows. They are out there, doing their thing and if you listen to those impulses you receive it can even save your life someday. If you get a nagging feeling about something that wont get away, just listen to that intuition. You can receive Information în so many ways. We would know all the time what is around us and what the future will look if we payed attention to those thoughts, impulses. But I guess people that will get another life will live în a way that they will really use their senses. Take care and do enjoy what you still can.
@Hello O think about the convenience of living everyday. What the other comment probably meant was that living in modern society within or above the standards of a peaceful and financially stable life is far less risky than what these tribes face on a daily basis. Modern people have the time for leisure that these tribesmen will never experience.
@Hello O they don't have any stress in their life?? How about going every day not knowing if you're going to eat. Being in a tribe has many benefits but also many negative consequences. Such as, the pressure to conform to the group, pull ones weight according to what's expected as a man or woman. I'm pretty sure these young girls have little say about when they marry or who they marry. I think you suffer from the Noble Savage myth.
@@chaitanyareddymuthyala2967 you're claiming they're happier than us. Your job is to provide evidence that that's true. I know they're not because I've talked to them directly.
Thank you very much for showing the World this videos, The most Primitive People in the World. Thank you for producing this videos and continue to produce more. Thanks.
For indigenous peoples, sustainable development does not exist because they have always lived sustainably. Indigenous peoples feel connected with nature and feel like they are part of the system in which they live. Natural resources are considered as shared property and are respected as such. Source: Active Sustainability
While they live in harmony with nature and are described as "gentle" by the makers of this film, it is interesting to note that before 1956 the homicide rate within the tribe was 60%. Gentleness is a new feature for this group. (See Beyond the Gates of Splendor).
Yeah, this myth of the "noble savage" is ...well, I wouldn´t go so far and call "bullshit", but fact is, those indigenous tribes are not better and not worse than other civilizations.
There was a PBS 1-hr special about this tribe, televised in the 70's or 80's, made from film taken in 1968, I believe. It was titled, "Nomads of the Rainforest." Fred
@@neepers no, the average age =! life expectancy at 15 years old; the average was low due to child mortality (like cot death on steroids), but if you've survived to 15, you're more likely than not to get to 60
Like Canada? Where indigenous are 'protected' by government and in response they prefer commit suicide because to live as pets in according to left's politicians is social justice?
Yeah, let's keep treating then like they are animals in a zoo 😐. What they trully need is little by little, generation after generation to be integrated with the villages around then. Live with dignity, not excluded with a low life expectancy.
I like the statement in the beginning. " They lived in harmony and off the land until the 50s," until they met us. Since then they have all started seeing psychiatrist. Now they are just like us
Amazing and beautiful people, I hope they keep their living and cultures intact. The indigenous peoples in such places need to have people stand up for them.
Nature culture can see in hindu belief,.. Idols making, bathing it with milk,, ghee, ox, elephant, monkey gods, snake god and worship, .. So. Those who want to have. Revealed religion. Faith they accepted,, gave up nature religion and this kind of idol worship.
I've always wondered how these various tribes around the world figured out these techniques like the poison root in the video. It's like these techniques were figured out by accident in some strange way.
@@kinggee8559 Agreed, it's especially apparent when you spend a lot of time in the forest or where ever then have to deal with the noise and unnatural settings of the city and then go back to the quiet forest. You can see the stars and so many of those little noises mean something..
I saw another documentary on a south American tribe. They were helping outsiders find new medicinal plants. One plant had over 400 varieties and they only used one. They were asked how they could tell that was the medicinal one and they said "it sings to us in a different pitch".
Great piece of information, what gets old real fast, is all the electronic blurring of 'objectionable' parts of the human body, even in a documentary filmed in the middle of the Amazon jungle...seriously?
Love to know how or what they do to avoid insects. Must be something natural, especially since they don't wear clothes for protection. Very interesting video, hope their culture survives. Robert Castello Dixie General Store Heflin Alabama USA
I think it must be natural immunity or acquired from exposure early on. When I lived in El Salvador, which is a tropical country, the mosquitos never bit me. Maybe my diet helped my body produce a natural repellent which kept the mosquitos away. I eventually moved to the US and when I went back to visit a few years later I was bitten all over my legs and arms even after applying OFF.
They no doubt had herns they could use, bit when you build a village and everything is inhabited and swept out, with fires, that usually drives most bugs away. Up until the 60s and 70s , most people didn't have a/c or even screens on the windows.
Some people insects just don't pay attention to. Always wondered why. Mosquitoes fly around me to get to the people beside me. Aside from that though, some of my friends who moved up here from that area tell me that a lot of people there like to chew tobacco. If you have a certain amount of nicotine in your system, insects avoid you.
😂 I wear my slops in the house, my soft little feet are too used to shoes and sneakers. I am only barefoot in bed 😁 These people have footsoles like freaking thick leather. Even me walking barefoot on grass is dangerous for me. Those people that participate in the television series "Naked and Afraid" are too brave!! I will participate, but with a decent pair of hiking boots and decent clothing. Who on earth will allow their partners and spouses to spend 3wks with individuals "naked and afraid" Eish!! I will rather walk with my slops around the home. There is a shoe for every occasion......and nakedness and barefoot for every occasion - in the bath or in the shower, skinny dipping with your spouse - only in holy matrimony off course, or in bed, only with your spouse - also and only in holy matrimony of course!! 🧐🤨 The rest fully clothes and footwear - appropriate for the occasion 😳 Thank you... thank you very much. 😁
Regards specially to Penti we use to work together defending the waorani territories!!! Hope to see u soon....Moi, Manuela, Alicia and everybody. Stay strong Yasuni. 🙏💚❤🦎🐸🐊🐢🦋🦠🦟🕸🌿🌱🍃🐝🐜🕷🦗
If you watched the video aren't you part of the problem? If there wasn't a demand to know about them, there would be no camera crew in the Amazon making this film. Man in the mirror, that's all I'm saying.
My guess is they have probably developed an immunity to mosquito bites and the like. I live in Florida and mosquito bites leave only a small spot on me whereas my visiting relatives from Ireland get huge welts from them!
