In regards to the idea that Aunt May should have died from natural causes in 4, I totally agree. The notion that you can't just punch your way out of a problem is a really powerful thing I've seen explored in a few ways, although the one that really springs to mind is Buffy. You know which character I mean here. That hurt.

Imagine how brutal it would've been if peter had to pick between defeating the big bad or being with aunt may when she died. Or worse, aunt may died while he was out fighting, so a moment of victory is immediately cut short in the worst way possible.

They could still do it in 2021. REALLY lean into the older Tobey McGuire thing you mentioned.

I was thinking something similar: After the events of the third film, Spider-Man is now hailed as the “Savoir of New York City”. He has became an icon, praised across the city, even leading to the press, like the Daily Bugle, no longer slandering his heroics, to JJ's dismay. However, despite the glory, Peter is still recovering from the mistakes he made in the prior entry, as he is continuing to repair his relationship with MJ, while reeling from the death of Harry. Throughout the film Peter faces difficulties of finding a job fresh out of university, deciding on whether to take control of OSCORP which was passed on to him by Harry and is now in disarray, as well as the difficulty of paying to support his Aunt who is sicker than ever. He even has to sell his apartment. So, when the Vulture arrives to target OSCORP, Peter must face his greatest and final challenge yet, as he goes on a path to earn the name Spider-Man once more. (Also, as an ending, I was thinking we could end the film with a burning building sequence where Vulture and Spidey fight in the finished building where the fight from Spider-Man 3 took place).

If Sony wants to redeem themselves for their sins, they should make Spider-Man 4 today and get all the original cast and crew back on board. Have a middle aged Spider-Man who has a family and retired.

Sony ruined 3, corporate greed ruins everything. Raimis og script for spidey 3 might have been amazing.

The biggest waste is that we’ll never hear Tobey say “pizza time” ever again.

I don’t know why, but eventually I’d like to see a live action version of Peter B. Parker from Spiderverse. I’m kind of imagining a Logan style movie where Peter has been at it for like 20-25 years, and is just tired, and kind of done with it. New villains keep coming, and it’s getting to a point where just keep up anymore. Exploring the toll being Spider-Man has taken down the line in Peters life could be very interesting. It would have the same tone as Logan too, and probably be a little depressing. But I would understand if people just want a good old, fun Spider-Man movie too, because those are always a blast. Idk, just something I’d like to see.

You know, I’ve thought about it... Perhaps it’s for the best that we did not see Spider-Man 4. What would be the probability that the producers with their movie business rules would not interfere with Raimi again??? And so we have an excellent trilogy, 2 excellent parts and a controversial 3, his problems that have been discussed by a lot of people, but still it remains part of the Sam Raimi trilogy and serves as the end of this story.

Watching Spider-Man’s responsibilities keep him from spending his final moments with aunt may would’ve been sad to watch

Vultress was a rumour by the media. Several people involved in the film, namely Sam Raimi himself, confirmed no such character existed and Felicia was always meant to be Black Cat.

Definitely the prospect of Bruce Campbell’s Mysterio. The slow building of the character from cameos in all three movies was meant to result in the introduction of the character as a master-puppeteer type character in Spider-Man 4... so much potential.

I think Aunt May dying could be a very emotional moment for Peter. If it's just age, there's no guilt, regret, or failure on his part, just sadness. It would be a very human moment for a character built on feeling real. Spider-Man 4 is a film I'm really sad we didn't get, I wonder how different things would've turned out if it released as planned.

Two superhero movies I wish they made are Spider-Man 4 and Ben Affleck's solo Batman movie which to this day makes me sad

Spider-Man 4 deserves a documentary like "The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened", but it wasn't far enough into production to get enough coverage, so we can't even get that lol

6:23 Most spider-man stories shy away from aunt May being a kind old lady, shows MCU young hot aunt May who could just as well be Peter's older sister.

In retrospect I wish we did get Spider-Man 4 instead of Amazing Spider-Man just to see if Raimi could right the ship after 3. Plus it would have been more interesting than okay, but standard origin we got.

I barely found out about the Spider-Man 3 director's cut last year and watched it. It was far superior and had better pacing. They even removed the butler scene and let Harry make his own decision to save his best friend, Peter Parker, and let go of his hate for Spider-Man.

What i like about spiderman 3's ending is that it felt complete. It would've been nice to get a 4th film but the 3rd one actually felt like an ending. The fact that there was no final swing made it feel like if it was the finale. I would love to see a 4th raimi spiderman but i dont think we need it because it has a good complete ending. A 4th raimi spiderman would be great though i would love it but the 3rd one was an ending. Cant say the same for the amazing spiderman bc they were still setting up the sinister 6 and a whole universe but it didnt feel complete because they still had to deal with sinister 6 and other stuff which never happened but in the raimi movies. They had nothing to worry about because they finished everyones story. Spiderman 3 may be bad to many but in my opinion it was damn near perfect. I know ppl hate this movie cuz of the black black suit spiderman and too many villains but the black suit spiderman was hilarious for me and there is a lot of villains but harry was really enjoyable and gets his time to shine. Sandman was handeled well. I dont mind the uncle ben retconn. Its really cool to have venom in the trilogy. I dont think he was as bad as ppl say but the other villains are better. It is the weakest one though but i only say that because the other ones were a little better but in my opinion. The raimi trilogy was a perfect spiderman trilogy

I'm working on a What If: Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, Fox's X-Men, Tim Story's Fantastic Four, and Nicholas Cage's Ghost Rider all took place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the original timeline and alternate timeline because of X-Men: Days Of Future Past. It's still in progress but it's looking good.

It would be better if people look at spidermam 3 psychologically, it works, also I would like to point out one thing, since people seem to miss the point about the serum Harry uses, it won't always make you insane, how do I know this, well in the first movie the serum had only one failed test, it was stated Dr.Strom and Norman, so it doesn't always make you insane

I actually really like your idea for aunt may, if she passed from natural causes early in the movie or even before it i think it would give peter a drive to keep fighting crime so on and so forth, now he’s not just doing it for his uncle but his aunt to.

i would trade 90% of the MCU for spiderman 4

With Peter getting married, Aunt May dying and the Vulture being the main villain, i think this movie could have been all about getting old and the struggles related to that. As a soon to be middle age guy, Peter could suffer for all his crazy stunt he does every time as Spider-Man, causing him problems in his daily life as well. Also the marriage (and pregnancy maybe?) would create some conflict in his life, as he struggles to be a good husband and father while also juggling his job at Bugle and his Spider-Man identity. On the other side, we have Vulture, an aging man that invents a suit to help his rapidly aging body, firstly just to sustain himself, but to then commit crimes once the power goes to his head. You can still then fit Black Cat/Vultress as a young woman, not a full blown villain, just a regular thief that likes to taunt Spider-Man once she realizes that he isn't in his prime anymore and she's way more agile and faster than him. The movie could end with Spider-Man obviously defeating Vulture, but retiring once and for all as Spider-Man after the injuries sustained in the fight and him wanting to stay with Mary Jane and his kid, concluding the movie with a speech about how, while his time as Spider-Man is over, someone else will take the mantle one day, as everybody can be Spider-Man if they're ready to face to responsability of the task.

The Vulture would have been neat, however I thought it was genius how they executed the character in the MCU Spidey movies.

Captain Midnight I used to hate Spider-Man 3 until I saw a browntable and Owen likes Comics review of it and I realized that it's not as bad as thought it's decent I gave it a 7.5/10

He finally got his redemption, his character arc. He guided the newer Spider-Man to try to go on a better path.

Sam Raimi spiderman will always be iconic and it along with the dark Knight paved the way for superhero movies from the mcu & dceu today. Venom should be introduced in spiderman 4 while he deal with sandman & the new goblin conflicts in the third movie, or sandman alone and his conflict with Harry should develop foreshadowing venom in the next movie.

Honestly, I kind of love Spider-Man 3. I think it's a pretty solid movie aside from the stupid forced inclusion of Venom and some of the tonal inconsistency. I would've been down for a 4th entry, but I'm honestly pretty satisfied with the one we got. It has a surprising amount of finality to it considering it wasn't meant to be the last movie, and I think it rounds out the whole trilogy really well. I just hope Tobey Maguire gets a cameo in Spider-Verse 2 and Doctor Strange 2.

Irony is he kinda called several of those plot points for the recent movie, Toby and mj married, Toby being older, a different aunt may but aunt may dying. There's a cosmic irony to this.

If I could remake Spider-Man 3, I would do 3 things. 1. Take out Venom. Venom can be saved for the next film. Sandman will stay in and his story won’t change. But I will add a couple different villains in this. 2. Harry’s New Goblin will definitely stay, but instead of calling him New Goblin, he’ll take on the Hobgoblin mantle. 3. And the third villain, will be a surprise. Vulture. Yup, I’m adding him early. He will be a side villain who Spidey beats early on in the film. I’ll rework that scene where Gwen Stacy nearly dies from falling off the building due to the crane, into a moment where the Vulture actually attacks the city. Which causes Gwen to be put in danger. Harry discovering his dad’s secret Goblin lair, and realizing Peter was Spider-Man and was involved in his dad’s death, he’ll recruit Adrian Toomes and Sandman after Spidey bested both of them, and use them as a way to get revenge on Peter. For Spider-Man 4, this is where I would put in Venom. That way the movie can be solely focused on the Black suit story, and also be about Eddie Brock and his relationship with Peter, as well as his hatred of Spider-Man

I liked SM 3 a lot, because I was not a comic book reader and I didn't have any preconceived idea of Venom. I think international or non comic reader viewers didn't have any bad rep. for SM3.

If they kill Aunt may it would be too overstuffed for a 2 hour movie, unless her death happens early in the film and the vulture is trying to get over the death of a loved one. Or/and: Aunt May is dying at the end and the vulture uses his $ to build a treatment that could potentially save her and Peter has to stop Vulture but risks losing aunt may giving it a theme of acceptance of mortality throughout.

I Ike the idea of aunt may dying. Peter would have to deal with the fact that he couldn’t do anything to save her. Unlike uncle bens death, that was caused by his inability to act, aunt may dying of natural causes would show peter that even with his powers he cant save everyone

Tobey Maguire is still my favourite Spiderman. The fact he was a better actor might have helped.

I grew up with Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. He was my biggest hero and I admired him so much, still to this day he is my hero and the only Spider-Man. I still can´t get over the fact that there will never be a fourth movie. I feel so connected to Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and Spider-Man. He was the best in my opinion and that will never change. Andrew and Tom were okay, but no one could ever replace Tobey.
