Same here. Honestly I feel like the eighties are a state of mind and a way of life if you will it to be. Some of us are lucky enough to have lived during that time and understand that the dream of that time is so much more ellusive than anything worth desiring today. I’m of an age where the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s all still find a place on my playlists, but every generation has it’s day. Where I think music lost it’s way in the 90’s, there are still songs that I like and that applies to the 2000’s, 2010 up to today.

That was the crack era in my community.

The worries were there. The Cold War, narco-terrorism, AIDS, nuclear war, etc. It's just that life left space to appreciate things like a great tune by a great band like The Human League. I happened upon this video due to a great article about The Human League in the most recent issue of Mojo Magazine. I couldn't help but be slightly floored by how great a song this still is. The music industry has changed radically, so it seems. So have we as people. It was always about money and selling a product but artists still created art. With our present need for instantaneous gratification and the ubiquity of media due to the internet we've lost our ability to discern and to appreciate. The irony is that You Tube provides the medium to appreciate this great video.
