I think the appeal is that it's almost like gacha in a way. It's fun & satisfying for people to collect dinosaurs and their skins, and other limiteds; and for younger people, the survival aspect of it is appealing enough to be fun and a way to make friends. I've been playing since around late 2015 to early 2016, and it's how I met my 2 current best friends (& others that i've since disconnected with, but still have great memories with.) I mean I was like 11 or 12 in 2015 so simple gameplay like this was enough for me to get obsessed for literal years lol. But it wasn't always about grinding DNA, cause dinos and their skins weren't ungodly expensive when I first started. Back when I used to play religiously, me and my friends would be on discord VC group chats and we'd start wars with other discord server groups we had beef with. I remember when I rallied the entire server into joining a Yuta VS Phoenix battle royale; I remember annihilating albino terrors with only a pungent dilophosaurus with my homie and ruling the server, I remember when the kaiju quetz could pick up nearly anything, and i'd divebomb into dinosaur packs and fly away with one of them like a menace in the sky. I remember the many cool maps like the galaxy one; and I remember meeting devsaurs and seeing them in action like Lucy... all in all I have lots of a good memories with this game. Now that i'm older I find more interest in other higher quality games with richer gameplay, since DS depends entirely on whether other people in the server are fun enough at this point. But even though I barely play anymore, I still like to come back to this game every once and a while because like I mentioned before, collecting dinosaurs/skins is satisfying to me. I own almost everything in the game, every limited from events, every hybrid (besides these 3 newer ones), etc. I also just like to check up on new updates and see what they've improved on yk?
