In this meditation we begin by contemplating 'I', the name anything that knows itself gives to itself. We recognise that the awareness of our self is simply awareness's knowledge of itself and ask, 'Do I, awareness, find any limit in myself?' We discover that the world appears within and is made of our self, infinite and eternal awareness.

Only that which is can know anything about awareness of itself. Being awareness is a reification of being aware. Only Eternity can fully embrace Infinity. My knowledge that I am is the Absolute's knowledge that I am - no division. We can only experience the qualities/qualia of our perceptions of Being. Thus, qualia is the stuff experience is made of. Awareness is how we know them. That which is experiences knowing itself as that I am, in contrast to what I am and who I am. What I am is embodied as a human being. Who I am changes with time, place and circumstance. Only that I am - that which is - remains constant.

I love all of Ruperts content, but there's something strange going on. I've listened to this meditation, wide awake, no distraction, for the full length of the video .. I've done this at least 4 times, so about 2 hours worth of this video. And for the life of me, I can't remember a single word he says..not even the hello at the beginning. It's like I've never seen this video. I just cannot retain anything..why?

I'm new to this philosophy, hence please ignore if my question is too naive. Do all beings share the same waking state? Since waking state is a projection, is it possible that everyone has their own waking states and we do not exist in each other's.

Even the most rigid materialist will of course automatically agree with the statement: *"You are that which is present and aware of experience."* Yet the necessary implications of this axiomatically accepted fact are not accepted nearly so readily. And somehow this glaring logical contradiction doesn't seem apparent or even relevant to most of us even after it is pointed out multiple times. It seems to me that this can only be the result of ignorance. I use the word "ignorance" in it's active form, i.e. "Ignoring" or "rejecting acknowledgement". Furthermore it would seem to follow logically that this is indicative of a deep-seated subconscious or even instinctual reason for this reflexive intentional aversion to an unwanted conclusion.

0:30 Rupert ....you state that the tree is not aware of itself....But how do you know that? Grover Cleveland "Cleve" Backster Jr. (February 27, 1924 - June 24, 2013) was an interrogation specialist for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), best known for his experiments with plants using a polygraph instrument in the 1960s which led to his claim of "primary perception" where he claimed that plants "feel pain" and have extrasensory perception (ESP), which was widely reported in the media but was rejected by the scientific community.. I certainly reviewed experiments where plants did have memory and were aware of itself. This tends to suggest that 1. Plants do have consciousness/ awareness , have memory, and are self aware. The same three attributes of the human being. 1. We are conscious, we have limited awareness and have limited awareness. So in fairness the tree could be very aware that it is a tree and views its reality from that perspective. Perhaps the tree can call itself "I", who are we to judge.

Concisousness is beyond or greater than I, therefore Consciousness is not I and I am not consciousness. The calling itself I is the limiting of itself as a thought therefore whenever I think of myself I am a limitation of consciousness and not unlimited. I can't never say or think I am that awareness. Limitation is not thought itself, thought is the expression of what is beyond accordingly. If I am in essence infinite awareness then I would have expected to be a consonant expression, but I find that I am not that expression. There must be a thought or expression that really manifests perfectly infinite awareness within that framework. So by a simple comparison we can see that someone other than us Is the perfect manifestation of awareness. He has been called the Logos and has ascended and filled through our limitations to Infinite awareness.

Meditation has never done anything. I have found that out after 20 years of meditation. I also see this with many who have meditated for 50 years and more. No one has ever arrived through meditation. That meditation leads to enlightenment is a myth. No one has achieved enlightenment through meditation. When enlightenment happens, it happens for no reason. And not because one has meditated for decades. It also has nothing to do with consciousness and awareness, as many believe. There is also no higher self to realize. If the I dies for no reason, there is no more experience and no one who knows what is happening. It is rare because it rarely happens. All the teachings about awareness and consciousness are useless. "There is no mirror to polish because there is no mirror."

Awareness is not an object or subject. So it is itself ever present. It can only be aware of itself as nothing exist outside of itself. So the tree from a perspective of human is aware of itself. But not as a tree as that is concept. It knows itself by being itself. Rupert does a great job on pointing us back to whats really real. That which is real never ceases to be. That which is unreal never comes into existence.

Where is awareness when we sleep?

Awareness is always the same, it never changes. In deep sleep there is nothing there to be aware OF. In the waking state there is world of perceptions, we are aware if these perceptions. In the dream state there is the dream world and we are aware of those perceptions. Both the waking and dream states are mind states. In deep sleep there is no perception, so there is no "content" to be aware of, so no experience is remembered or registered. So to speak.
