In term of facts, this video was pretty reasonable. Though if it were my own script for a youtube audience, i would have accentued some facts and relations over others. But that is ok. We each have our point of views. What can be interesring is some of the translated words that seem confusing without more context. But to me, what jumped more to my attention, was the contrast of how some portuguese words and names were so well pronunciated alongside other portuguese words and names were so foreign. This does show that you did invest a good amount of effort in this, but how even then we are always missing so much, no matter our good will or knowlegde. Overall i personally would rate positively this video. Thanks for sharing.

I assume that "The Spanish third" refers to the 'Tercio' pike and shot formation(a regiment in modern terms). I also assume that the "military order" here refers to the name of the Tercio. I'm not fluent in Spanish, but Ordenes Militares, perhaps? I here assume that the military orders referred to are the military brotherhood ordes that existed in the Iberian Peninsula, the Orders of Santiago, Calatrava, and possibly also Alcantara? A better sentence in English would be: "The 'Military Orders' Tercio(or Regiment if you want to be modern), the elite of the Spanish Army..."😊

Thank you for this. The Renaissance period is one of the eras I have the least knowledge of. When I saw the "Shogun" series, I couldn't understand why the Portuguese were enemies of England since they had an alliance since the 14th century. With Portugal ruled by the Spanish King at this time, it makes sense.

Indeed, many people like yourself dont understand why some things happened the way they did, because in our school system when it comes to history sadly, to they seem to overlook some topics that might seem small compared to bigger events but are sometimes the key factor to a certain result. We try to show people the less known details that were hidden from us and the only way to know about them its to take interest and look for it, but how can you look for something you are not aware of, right? @Imperium-YT Yeah, I am really trying to plug the gap between the Middle Ages and the Age of Enlightenment (1450-1700s). I have read some about the Reconquista, and Roman Spain, and the Peninsular War during the Napoleonic Wars. The 30-years war and the Habsburg dominance over Europe is still something I need to learn more about. I don't know if you do battle videos, but I would love to see videos on the border battles between Portugal and Spain in the 1640s.

@@Zajuts149 Well, if you are a history enthusiast then the Iberian Peninsula surely it´s the best place for you, this is a very contested landscape. There are records of military campaigns into the region since the days of the Phoeneceans who ironically founded Olisipo (Lisbon), Carthage invading during the Punic Wars, then the Romans struggling to conquer the region for 224 years, then the Germanic Migrations ending up with 300 years of Visigothic rule, then the 800 yeas of Reconquista with the muslim powers, the foundation of the modern Iberian countries and the struggle between the Iberians for control of peninsula right up to the Napoleonic Invasions. And indeed the next video that we are going to post in saturday at 12:00 GMT +0, will be about Napoleonic Era. Stay tuned 😀

Hey there! Indeed, there is not. We decided to show the viewers how the diplomacy worked out between the powerhouses at the time. But we´ll surely, make battle videos about this in the future 😀
