I’ll never forget walking into the studio when Tommy was warming up for this video. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone play with power like he does, and his attention to detail is insane. Something I think a lot of drummers overlook. He also had the highest respect for Randy Rhoads and wanted to make sure his legacy was honored in the videos we worked on together. Cheers Tommy, you’re a legend!🤘🏻

I was fortunate enough to attend a TA clinic in Palm Desert years ago when Tommy had his carbon-fiber kit. It's true: the power we felt coming from him was insane, as we were all only 3 feet away from him playing his solo from the Tribute album! He told us funny stories about having to record 3 different tempos per song for Ozzy. Ozzy would be drawn to whatever tempo fit the type of drugs he was on: if he was on speed, he liked the faster tempo, weed, slower, alcohol, medium. Heheheheh!!

@@7tardis7 I think the answer is from Tommy: Randy liked what Tommy offered. It worked for them. There are lots of differing versions of all kinds of things that we may or may not prefer. If you prefer Kerslake's version, that's cool. Have a great New Year, 7tardis7!

Check a drummer out named Steve ashiem , he's in his 50s and is still playing some of the fastest most technical death metal drumming their is .

What an absolute living legend Tommy Aldridge is. The first time I saw him perform live was with Ozzy, Randy and Rudy here in Tampa when I was 16 years old in 1981. As a young drummer, he absolutely blew my mind. Now that I'm an old drummer, he astounds me even more. My playing style is absolutely reflective of his although I am nowhere near his level of creativity and power. What really strikes me, too, is his humility in this video. He makes it a point, several times, to note that what he does isn't necessarily "better" than what Lee did, it's just different. What an amazing performer and person he is. Thanks for sharing this, Drumeo!

NONE OF IT would have existed without Bob Daisley who even insisted they'd fly in Randy R. and also got Lee Kerslake in The Blizzard of Ozz band (later hijacked into being the Ozzy Osbourne backing band). Lee wrote the drum parts and wrote a whole lot more for the Diary of a madman, including singing melodies. Lee was trained to play the piano too and sang like a frontman, so he had a complete set of skills. Respect where respect is due and kudos in due order to right targets please.

Watching him play it just like he did while my 14 Year old eyes glazed over in awe all those years ago. What an exceptional treat for me, now in my 50's. This video, with its resolution and many camera angles explains a lot to me that I've wondered about. Thank you Tommy and Drumeo. I will always prefer the sound of the original Ozzy records before Sharron got greedy and remastered the bass and drum tracks. Sharron if you're reading this, up yours!

Great performance from this legendary rock drummer. The older he gets, the harder he plays. In the clips from the 80's it looks like he didn't play this hard. I mean, he has always been a heavy hitter but, at 72, he's taken it to another level. Awesome!

As a guitar player, i've always payed more attention to melodies and riffs, but when you listened to many music , and learn how to appreciate other instruments, you realize that a good song is the result of a perfect mixture of them. And Crazy Train , is a good example... the Song itself is a masterpiece, but now i see that without this technical and powerful drumming ,It wouldn't be the say. Wonderful. Tomy is a Master
