Strange, how Chris Adler is never even mentioned or credited even in passing, in contributing to such iconic parts in metal drumming history. Must be such bad blood...
I really love Art, he is great, and hope he stays in LOG for as long as possible. Now, since he didn't write the song in the first place, I don't think is appropriate having him trying to explain it. Like in 1:26
Art Cruz seems like a good guy with a great vibe and attitude. Monster drummer, too. He was the best possible choice to replace Chris Alder and keeps the band moving forward in a good way.
@@Eric-cj8sbdude you a hater hahahaha you are pathethic, you just prove why adler left, so toxic, i bet you cant even play the verdes of this song and yet Here you are criticizing a PRO Drummer, if you simp adler is fine, but thats not art’s fault
@@alexschneider8494 yeah but this song, just like St. Anger, is enshrined in my skull with that particular annoying sound. It's part of its soul really.
Sadly Chris Adler doesn't get the credits for his drums on this song. Art, you are a nice drummer but hey, this is a Chris Adler song and you're just playing it.
@@Slayerformayor1983 Saying it wasn't his song isn't the same as giving the credit to Chris. This song is a masterpiece and that's why I think the name should be said.
This song is super fun to play. I think the hardest part of it is just the triplet kicks are pretty much constant throughout most of the song. It’s not fast, but after a million bars of it, your legs are wanting a break. Good shit.
Cruz is super cool, but there's something in Chris that is not replaceable. not only the tone, but the "groove", especially in the bass drum part. Also there're moments when we're listening to the new songs, and we're imagining in our head the sound of Chris' drumming that will make it different. Anyway, we're happy to see Lamb of God now! Cant wait to see them again in Hammersonic 2024
haha absolutely no. he compensates for his weaknesses (which is totally fine) but acts like he is ''that guy.'' i don't respect him at all for not mentioning chris adler even a single time these whole sessions.
Am I crazy or is the notation wrong at 3:53 ? The last 4 notes should be one eighth note triplet earlier. And in the next 2 bars at 3:59 , the second bar should be 5/4 with an extra quarter rest at the end, and the last 2 eighth note triplets should again be one eighth note triplet earlier.
I felt that way after the s/t record, but I think Art came into his style on Omens. It's a little more straightforward/less groovy, but it's a solid LoG record. Plus Art is a very good live drummer - brings a solid energy to Adler's parts, playing them pretty faithfully. It's certainly not exactly the same as before, but I don't know how you think seeing LoG with Art is worse than staying home.
I played in cover bands from 2001-2010 and I wish I had these videos to help me learn. But I did it the old fashion way just listening to the song pure of sound. And maybe some visuals from a live performance or dvd live performance. We didn’t have this kind of luxury
If you wanted a true breakdown of this song, you should've gotten Chris Adler, the man himself who literally contributed to the making of this song, to play it. Having Art here when he doesn't know much of anything about how this drum tune came about is ridiculous.
Is drumeo and lamb of god trying to make me forget Chris Adler......is Art going to break down Hour Glass, Something to die for....i love Art Cruz ....Memento Mori is killer.....but Laid to rest is Chris Adler
Yeah, Chris should be playing this song, not Art, mad rispect to Chris and LoG to pull off this album, it's probably best metal album out there! Mixing is just outstanding on this record. I listen to this album every week still...
No, it shouldn't, Chris isn't the drummer for Lamb of God. He clearly doesn't want to play these songs or be in the band anymore, how about some respect for his descision and for Arts place as the bands drummer?
@@andishawjfac I respect Chris and Art immensely as drummers and the work they put in. But part of that work Chris put in was writing a lot of LoG music and specifically his signature style of groovy metal drumming in this song. Odd for you to say he clearly doesn't want to play the songs, last I knew Chris left the band because of toxicity in the group so there are reasons beyond "I don't want to play this anymore". I gotta think a man with his passion wants to play, but without whatever drama they have going on. I know they've done breakdowns on songs Art's written since he's been in LoG, it just seems weird to cash in on a well known song another drummer had created. It'd be like Jay Weinberg doing a breakdown on Duality or Mike Mangini doing a breakdown of Dance of Eternity.
One of the best groove metal songs ever , who wrote all of LOGs classic drum parts ? Oh yeah the great Chris Adler! Why couldn’t he be gracious enough to mention that? Break down a song you didn’t even write and then not even name drop the original drummer 🙄🙄🙄
Laid to Rest was one of my gateway songs to heavy metal, and they still have a special place in my heart. While I wish it was Chris Adler breaking it down, Art is a fantastic dude and has really found his place in the band. Happy that he found his groove and is thriving!
I hate either the tuning or the mixing of the snare drum. It’s missing the ringing sound chris’ used to have. It’s not the character and sounds like someone else is playing the drums instead of lamb of god’s drummer. It’s incredible how just a snare sound can make so much difference on their music. Chris adler is a genius.
Feels awkward really. Chris should have been here to talk about the drum parts, after all this song was his introduction to the drumming community all over the world. Not disrespecting Art, but imagine this: I join Porcupine Tree and talk about Sound of Muzak's drum parts, and it's Gavin Harrison's as whole world knows
Major L to anyone who thinks art doesn’t fill Chris Adler’s shoes. So tired of reading/hearing people bash this guy. If you go see them live I promise you won’t give a shit who’s drumming but yo neck gon hurt when u leave.
This is bullshit why Drumeo releases this shit video about a performer drummer "explaining" the execution for a song that he was not the creator ?? Is stupid!!!! They even mentioned the name of Chris Adler, sincerely he is better than Art!!! Bullshit!!!!
I don’t know the legal situation between Chris and LOG but none of them will mention his name. We saw LOG just after Art joined and were expecting Randy to introduce Art and mention Chris but he did neither. If you didn’t already know the band it would be easy to assume that Art was the original drummer. Very weird.
bro didn't even exist when chris wrote the song and now he's explaining how he likes to play it. he never mentioned chris adlers name in a 50 min interview, I no longer have any respect for him
No hate on Art Cruz, quite the opposite - he's wonderful, but it's just WEIRD to have someone who did not write the drum part break it down, when the actual drummer is still alive and well.
No disrespect for Art but a song that he wrote the parts for should have been chosen. Having someone that isn't Chris Adler explain the songs that he wrote feels pretty wrong.
I loved Art and his flawless adaptation from the first day until this interview. Actually the one before, the long one. He never ever ever mentions Chris Adler, ever. It’s so strange and feels really raw. Everyone needs to Respect the f out Chris and his amazing style that defined this band as much as Randy, Mark and Willie. Waited for him to mention and he could, he had plenty of chances. But he preferred not to. This is intentional. So, sorry Art you are off the list.
Why is Art even talking about the drum parts to SOMEONE ELSE'S DRUM PARTS. This was written by CHRIS F-ING ADLER. The ONLY REAL drummer for Lamb of God. Or, the band formally known as Lamb of god.... When he was fired he took something so huge from the music that Art just can't replicate, Art is a great drummer buuuuuuut, he is no Chris Adler.
Idk, maybe it's contractual or something (and there was about Art video so there's that), but i feel like Chris should've been the one to break this down. As soon as "idk what the fuck it is lamo" happened; i waa checked out.
FFS he does in the full segment, in fact he goes out of his way to explain how a lot of these rythmic decisions were NOT his. this is a supercut of a longer video. He's extremely respectful about where the material came from and is a very capable drummer in his own right,. Stop needlessly trashing the guy who's doing a perfectly good job in the role.
This might sound strange, but i lost all interest in LOG after Chris was let go/left/fired. Still listen to all of the albums with Chris on them though.
Chris Adler made the As the Palaces burn and Ashes...Killadelphia.. His Drumming was great and absolutely kills on so many songs. 11th Hour, ATPB, Vigil, Ruin, Bootscraper, Purified, Devil in God's, Defense,
I respect Art but Chris Adler is such an iconic drummer that have written such classic drum parts, that its hard to just forget how it used to be played by a such an influential musician. Again for me in the drumeo video, the snare tuning isnt doing it, dosent fit the LOG sound imo 🤷
Yeah I love me a big fat snare drum but part of the reason the drumming on the earlier LOG albums, in my opinion anyway, was the high pitch of Chris's snare. And that tight crack with the deeps bass drums and toms is what I expect when I hear those songs
Remember that Metallica gig when Dave Lombardo sat in for Lars? Well, it's probably time to get Dave on Drumeo to break down the iconic double bass parts in One or the time signatures in Blackened.
@@GerkoRodriguezwhile it makes sense that they couldn’t get Chris to do it because it’s the current band that owns the song, but they could have easily chosen a song that he wrote instead of one he didn’t. Criticism isn’t automatically “toxic”, and is a valid part of doing things better next time.
