I started walking 4 hours a day, only taking my dogs. It’s a great way to manage my Aspergers. No more depression, however more creative thoughts. I lost 40 lbs in 2 months and I have 130 lbs left to lose. EDIT: I take a notebook and sketch pad with me during these walks. In these pass two months I filled 4 notebooks and 3 sketch pads. Never have been happier in my life.

I quit drinking on March 15th 2018. The first couple of weeks were hell - physically and mentally. After the physical pain subsided I was left with severe anxiety and a desire to be outside of my skin, I wanted to die. Then I started walking every day. I had shin splints for the first 3 months, but I had decided not to give up, despite the pain. I wanted to explore my pain, see how bad it can get before my legs just crumble into ash. They didn't. The pain started to go away, slowly, but steadily. Now I walk an average of 15km a day and I also never miss an oppirtunity to hike. I still want to drink every single day, but the person fighting the urge is stronger and more resilient now. Don't give up if it hurts. If the pain is enough to kill you, it will die with you. However, you are stronger than you think, the pain will die before you. You can always take one more step.

@@arama8007 By and large, gyms are the quickest and easiest way to build strength and size. Unless you have an at home gym or work a demanding physical job like construction, you’re not going to find much activity that can compare to the results you get at the gym. It’s also good for the mind to have a defined place to exercise, it helps build consistency and habit so that you don’t quit. You can call it robotic, others call it efficient and healthy.

8 years ago I started doing martial arts and it changed my life. A martial art that is accompanied by philosophical thinking can teach us many lessons. One, that the body is changeable through new experiences and habits; that in martial arts as in life your adversary is often you and not the one you are fighting; through the pain of getting hit, the ego is slowly chipped away until it makes way for something that looks more like what we long to be. The founder of Tae Kwon-Do said "pain is the great teacher, but no one wants to go to its class" - until today I live by this

I recently completed my hike of the Appalachian Trail (~2,200 miles from Georgia to Maine). That walk sculpted my being to the rhythm of every honest step, and every marking of my poles felt justified. So many people challenge the dishonesty of these disconnected systems by the rules of the systems! Don't speak in phrases, speak idea against idea in shocking colors. Walk, introspect, create art! Note: I didn't thru-hike the AT. I failed my first attempt going southbound after 500 miles. I reattempted the next year and walked northbound to where I quit and did a bit extra for a total of ~2,400 miles of the trail walked. I plan to start the PCT this April.

I couldn't be more unhappy as I struggle coping with financial hardships, unable to even go out and enjoy life right now. I've been attempting to start a business that will get me on my feet and breath in the fresh vegetation, and to have a more personal relationship with my customers. I ran into a wall the past few days, feeling lack of preparedness or wondering if I am even qualified enough to be taken seriously. I'm finding very little support and help in the challenging journey and I lost some drive and happiness to even proceed these past few days but I refuse to give up, I refuse to be chained to this desk and struggle to build my family up. I used to walk so much when I was younger. until things took for a change, for 4 years I've lived as a hermit and always in the dark. some days I only see the sunlight for bits of minutes for a cigarette. I didn't get the sun as much and walking was little. I was depressed, consumed by darkness, and more aggressive. All until 6 months ago I went on a 5 months Asia backpacking trip. I walked so much and every day had so much sun. 10-25 miles walk became a normal thing. Now in the present, I am still continuing my walk and waking up on sunrise to walk and jog. I feel so much happier. I feel like a completely different person now. And now being able to think with clarity, I can see how distasteful my dark self back then was. I'm changing every day to a better person. I encourage everyone to walk as much as you could every day. Go on a walk when you're feeling sad and you'll feel the change. Wake up with the Earth and share a bond of movement together.

Everything which makes the man and gives him his mental and physical qualities is nothing but the manifestation of his will is in fact what he wills. (Arthur Schopenhauer) From the age of 45 until his death 27 years later Schopenhauer lived alone and everyday for 27 years he followed an identical routine. He rose every morning at 7 and had a bath but no breakfast: he drank a cup of strong coffee before sitting down at his desk and writing until noon. At noon he played the flute for 0.5 hour. Then he went out for lunch at the Englisher Hof. After lunch he returned home and read until 4, when he left for his daily walk: he walked for 2 hours no matter what the weather. He WOULD go out and nothing would stop him.

Along with the Nietzsche quote in the video asking what is good, another major influence for myself (and the main reason I have a YT playlist titled: Diamond Mind Body Building) is the passage at the end of Twilight Of The Idols, also in Zarathustra Third part in the segment On Old And New Tablets, number 29. The Hammer Speaks: "Why so hard?" the kitchen coal once said to the diamond. "After all, are we not close kin?" Why so soft? O my brothers, thus I ask you: are you not after all my brothers? Why so soft, so pliant and yielding? Why is there so much denial, self-denial, in your hearts? So little destiny in your eyes? And if you do not want to be destinies and inexorable ones, how can you one day triumph with me? And if your hardness does not wish to flash and cut and cut through, how can you one day create with me? For all creators are hard. And it must seem blessedness to you to impress your hand on millennia as on wax, Blessedness to write on the will of millennia as on bronze---harder than bronze, nobler than bronze. Only the noblest is altogether hard. This new tablet, O my brothers, I place over you: become hard!

my entire childhood I was anorexic, girls would make fun of me for being so skinny, laughing telling me I look like a bunch of matchsticks, it took me over 5-6 years to finally work on changing that at the age of 15-16. I worked hard, I trained and forced myself to eat, the more I lifted - the better I felt - the more I ate. I reached a point in which I felt amazing, like I could do anything, and suddenly everything started coming to me on a silver platter, girls would want me, guys would respect and compliment me. I truly felt happy, now at 19 I suffer from Hernia so I cannot train and it really took a toll on me, I became borderline anorexic again, I lost almost all confidence in me and now I have little to no confidence when I speak, I will have a surgery to fix that soon, braces will come off in a few months too so I'll have a fresh start, I plan on working on myself, improving myself and be the man I want to be again. Thank you Academy Of Ideas for teaching me great lessons.

I think the idea of being grounded (or ungrounded) warrants a deep dive. In this context, they are literally referring to being in contact and communion with the ground - while demonstrating side effects within someone due to that physical connection. But at a more broad level, what does it mean to be grounded? For me, it means to be connected to what we feel. Our feelings inform us about our internal AND external worlds. It is through our senses that we feel the reality we exist within. And that includes the literal ground. In all ways, we become mentally, emotionally, and physically grounded by being in touch with what we feel. When we dismiss, suppress, or inhibit our feelings, we become detached from ground - from reality. You can see and feel this in all sorts of people. To be more grounded, one only needs to open themselves up to feeling as much as possible.

What you’re doing is effectively closing/slowing your peripheral circulation and shunting more towards the core so you can sit down neck deep for a half hour or so. There’s no need to shock the body by jumping in all at once. A grounding like no other. You’re finished when you start feeling a shiver. The dragon flys confirm this.

This should be thought to the new generation. Family’s rough standards, constant comparisons through social media and the desire to feel wanted by others affects mostly female’s perception of their body. Many girl friends and women I’ve known are extremely insecure about the most minimal things about their appearance because they feel no one will love them, they fear getting old because it’s disgraceful to their figure or facial structure. Such a sad thing. I’ve struggle with this myself, it’s true, I was EXTREMELY awkward while being self conscious. My movements felt slow and I could barely hold a basic conversation. This point of view is truly healing to the soul and makes you view yourself in a different and empowering way. Thank you so much:) (excuse the grammar mistakes, if there’s any.
