One correction, Mr Rogers. The US or Europe didn't win the war. The USSR won it at enormous costs!

The USSR fought the Germans to victory, however the United States supplied the USSR that they could do so. The Russians don't get the credit they deserve in the West for the victory, but that isn't to say that victory would have come without the Allies working together.

@@willismcgee5216 Agreed about certain technology transfers from the US to the USSR, but it is without a doubt the blood of an estimated 12 million or more Russian men who died doing this. They could, and should be remembered and venerated for what they gave up. Of course, millions of German men also lost their lives in this incident. The 1970 Italian film Sunflower [I Girasoli] is a poignant dramatic record of the lives of Italian men who were also dragged off to the eastern front.

University education in the banking, finance, and economics fields is very poor. For example, there is little or no education regarding the Eurodollar system, yet this is still the axis of global finance and has been so since Former President Nixon 'suspended' the ability to convert USD into gold in 1971 - The Petrodollar. Does Mr Rogers know about this and its intricate history, and if so, where and how did he learn about it? BOJO, and perhaps even Cameron, are likely clueless, so how can they be expected to effectively run an economy that is, essentially, based on international finance? I note that Theresa May was a former Banker, but she had more political experience than banking, while her opponent at the time, Andrea Ledbeater, was more experienced with banking.

What's not changed in the UK, and what's driven the economic decline to war levels of austerity and despair, are the city square mile banker's delusional pursuit of global self-importance and control via the development and propagation of the offshore USD called, curiously, the Eurodollar. This system, centered in London, wrought the GFC when it began collapsing in August 2007. I wouldn't say British people are optimistic. A mood of despondency has descended on the country. With no relief in sight. Speculation is a dodgy game. Capitalism is structured by, and cannot exist except through, competitive methods. Given the same money supply, capital accumulation structurally creates winners as well as losers. Constitutionally, one cannot exist without the other. Speculators have to out-guess the competition, but there is no stability or end point. This structural feature also creates the dynamism (wealth creation???) shown in capitalist societies.
@dickiescratcher
@dickiescratcher 4 часа назад
Speculators per se are fine, but they should not be allowed to use credit created from thin air to speculate on 'assets'. They should find other like souls and borrow their money to go and gamble with. The created credit that forms almost 97% of the money in our banking systems could and should only be used for proper investment in businesses, small, medium, and large, to provide stable and dependable jobs for as many people as possible. This would also ensure very low inflation. So the US Federal Reserve could easily meet its statutory dual mandate of stable prices and employment if it simply took this approach.

@@tom-u8k6y Per capita, the UK has the most concentrated banking system. Professor Richard Werner describes it as "Sovietised". Government jobs do not add to GDP, or GDI; they are a drain on such measurements, and thus on aggregates of National Wealth, amongst other things. Using created credit this way in a highly centralised system designed to only 'accommodate' large and transnational enterprises results in the current malaise the UK currently has.

I kept agreeing on most of what you guys had to say and thought to myself: maybe I'm not totally stupid, after all. And then you finish off with "great prosperities for North Korea" which really tells of deep insights on Jim Rogers' behalf! As soon as the US leave South Korea so the two Koreas may start working together there will be a tremendous opportunity for growth. And now with the DPRK as an independent state which officially does not want unification, the risk for an economic burden put on the South is minimal. I did discuss this back in 2019 in Pyongyang and at that time we came to the conclusion of 5-10 years before good things might start happening. The DPRK leadership have prepared for a year now for upcoming good times and now both South Korea and Japan begin to realize they can't rely on the US for ever. When these three countries (yes, also the DPRK!) begin working together they will form an entity which provides balance to China and to some extent also Russia.

Because the stock market is up does not mean that everybody is having a good time. The tax cuts for the rich property owners leave the worker paying all the taxes. Soon, the way things are going, including the growing amount of worker strikes, especially on the ports of New York presents an opportunity for a spark that will escalate to the point that will resemble the French revolution. Remember, Lenin never expected a revolution to take place in Russia during his lifetime. People like Rogers is a middle class capitalist that is oblivious of what is happening in all disintegrating capitalist societies.

Without creating chaos for their own economy for viable trading, investment and reserve currency, what non-US country can do by themselves to mitigate risk from dollar collapse is fairly limited before the arrival of alternative currency and inter-banking messaging system. This is exactly what BRICS economists are now contriving and BRICS member states in fact had started the first move by reducing dollar for international trade settlement whenever and wherever possible within and reaching out beyond BRICS organization.

Alexander’s comment on the demoralization of the common peoples of the West, is a key observation I think. @dickiescratcher
@dickiescratcher 6 часов назад
Mr Rogers' choice of Singapore may be, unconsciously, because of the structure of its banking sector which has successfully accommodated small, medium, and large businesses. This is in stark contrast to places like the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, while a further banking 'consolidation' may soon befall the US. Surprisingly, so-called communist China used a similar banking structure [like Japan too] to fuel its rapid economic growth story. One need only look to Germany for the genesis of this.

If only our "leaders" were focused on geopolitics. They might have gotten good at it. It's zero sum to the establishment at home and in the world. Somebody must lose a lot for them to win. East Palestine Ohio, Maui, Hawaii, farmers, the southeast (North Carolina & Georgia...) the southwest plus Water Crisis, the rationing & shortages of American prescription medicines, extreme homelessness and in and on & on. D.C. only really cares about themselves. Families are falling to pieces. I sold what we have, me & Jessie, and I'm gaining new skills at home ie; food gardening, sewing machine, returning to music lessons and of course caring for my beautiful Jessica. I am also doing my best to learn enough about markets to invest and survive. This is the hard part if we get nuked we'll be in Heaven quickly hopefully.
