This analysis is so cool! I knew food was pretty prevalent in the show, but I didn’t realize how important it was. I really like your explanations and how you relate food to love Also, I watched this video eating my own favourite food :)
As a food lover yuri on ice was just 👏perfect👏 Omg i actually never realised how food actually connected the relationships together I swear this show- thank for an awesome video again LADYINEIA I better tell my parents why food is important now 🥰🤣
INEIA YOUR PASSION FOR THIS SHOW IS SO PALPABLE AND YOUR BRAIN IS SO MASSIVE AND ALL OF THAT COMING TOGETHER ALWAYS CREATES THE MOST BANGER IDEAS AND CONTENT THIS SO SO LOVELY 😭😭😭😭😭💞💞💞💞💞
I’ve always thought about how much food has been presented in the series. Thank you for this! I hope you have more videos analyzing Yuri on ice because I absolutely love your videos covering the anime 😊
Thank you so much for watching!! I don’t have any immediate plans for another video, but my heart is never far from Yuri on Ice! ⛸🤍 (also if we ever get word of ice adolescence updates I WILL be on that)
I just stumbled upon your channel and I can sense this is the first video I'm going to watch before watching everything lol. Your analysis is very detailed and I love how you explain things, even seemingly obvious ones like the name of Viktor, I didn't realize it at first and now I'm like "how? It was right there" jaja Also, thanks for adding the "quote" and "end quote", it's a nice detail towards disabled people that most would forget or not notice. Hope you continue to make videos! Have a nice day
Thank you so much for watching!!! I hope you enjoy any of my videos you choose to watch :-D I definitely think Yuri on Ice is so packed with details that it’s easy to overlook some unless you stop and take it apart piece by piece. The connection between Victor and Yuri’s names is something I hadn’t consciously thought about until I wrote the script and was like “hey wait a second here…!” Thank you again for you lovely comment!! I hope to make more videos soon!
thank you for ur contribution to yuri on ice nation!! i love this video!! its obvious the writers put a LOT of thought into the food specifically foods from different cultures when writing the show and its so exciting to hear an analysis on that.
Let’s go Yuri on Ice nation!!!!!! Food is such an interesting part of the show, and I hadn’t seen as much analysis on that aspect specifically, so I’m glad to fill that void :-D and I’m so glad you enjoyed the video!!!!
Hi, I recently came here from the mha video, I think it represents things I felt when I started anime, but I was so used to it and desensitized to it that I didn't really care. Your channel has given me a new perspective on this. By the way this video was EPIC because you don't usually find yuri on ice fans on youtube. I hope you have more videos to post.
I’m so glad you came to check this one out after the MHA vid! And I’m glad you enjoyed them both 🤍 I do think there hasn’t been much Yuri on Ice analysis since the last trailer dropped but I’m trying to keep the conversation going, at least a little bit! And I do have a few videos in the works… I obviously work rather slowly (perhaps an understatement haha), but I’m hoping to have some more videos out sooner rather than later!!
this video reminded me of why I love yuri on ice and tbh so much of it is recontextualized now that I've come to terms with my gender and sexual identity, no wonder it resonated with me so much before I even knew who I was
You should try mairimashita, while the misfit class only has 3 female characters They're absolutely amazing, not to mention we meet other female characters that are amazing Not to mention the moms are so good (except irumas mom)! One of the moms taught the mc that just because he has friends, doesn't mean he has to reveal everything about him to them including his secrets Also for one of the characters that are wearing revealing clothes it's because she's a succubus and so far from the story it looks like she was taught by the book she was reading and her family at a young age to be how she is (she starts wearing the normal outfit than our of the blue switches back to how she was before which was weird? Probably a hint from the creator we might get something about her.) The creator is Nishi and she is an amazing manga creator The full name is Mairimashita Iruma Kun or welcome to demon school Iruma Kun please watch it
I just watched your vid on sexism in mha and when I clicked on your channel I saw you had a new vid (this one). I really like your analysis and the way you talk abt anime. It’s also really nice to hear the perspective of someone who is not a cishet male talking abt anime. I was wondering if you know any other female youtubers that have similar content to yours (anime, or even game, analysis) also it was kinda funny bc the mha one said it was posted 11 months ago and this one said 11 hours so I got confused for a sec lmao
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoy. And lol, I can imagine that was confusing; my upload schedule usually throws people for a loop when I post after many months. As for fellow RU-vidr recs… I definitely watch mostly men because there’s mostly men doing this lol. And there’s really not many anitubers doing the very direct video essay style like I do who aren’t cishet men, but I have a few suggestions! Princess Weekes makes video essays about a variety of topics, but she’s covered anime and animated shows like She Ra (if you’re into that) before. A totally blind recommendation is Lady Emily who makes anime and fandom analysis videos; I haven’t seen her stuff yet but she’s a co writer for Sarah Z, and I’ve watched and enjoyed a couple of the videos they wrote together. For video games, you may have already seen Polygon’s video essays but some of their video producers like Simone de Rochefort make really wonderful vids. I myself have thought about making video game analyses at some point… hope you find some more RU-vidrs out there!! Feel free to rec some to me if you have any!
I can recommend Noralities, for good intros to her channel, I'd go for her videos 'Howl's Moving Castle: Self Love' and/or 'Mulans hidden strength' but the latter is less recent.
Man it's been forever since I thought of Yuri on Ice!!! I hope it gets it's own revolution like Avatar: The Last Airbender did when it was added to netflix at the beginning of lockdown. I was a middle schooler then when I watched YoI, but I think I remember hearing about how revolutionary it was in the anime world to have a non-fetishy gay romance story mainstreaming.
i just wanted to say that your commentaries are simply stunning like the amount of nuance that you put into these and the meticulosity and attention to details awes m every time and this is no diffrent stunning work indeed
I love that u keep making YOI videos! especially so long after the release. Also, i was completely mindblown when i watched the video :O God damn, epic analysis!!!!!
though this genre isn't my cup of tea, this video made me add this Anime to my plan-to-watch list, and the food looks way to delicious, now I am hungry.
Omg, I remember watching Yuri On Ice for the first time all these years ago, and I rewatched it recently. I love this analyzation so much! Never thought of it like this. I saw your MHA video before this one. I really love how much work and thought you put in your videos. Hope to see more, but I'm already greatful for what you've put out!
I came to your channel thanks to the MHA video, after finishing it I saw that not long ago you made this analysis about another of my favorite animes and is wonderful! I'm glad there is someone taking the time to make content about YOI even though we haven't had news about it in a while, it has been very interesting that you go through this topic, and by the way the whole MHA video was also very well done, I hardly watch videos so long but it was worth it haha especially in such an important issue
I’m so glad you found this video after the MHA one! The MHA one is long lol I’m not sure I will make something that long again for a while, but I’m glad you watched and enjoyed nonetheless :-D And re: Yuri on Ice, with the drought of YOI content, I wanted to make something bc I love the show so much. So I am glad you enjoyed this video too!!!
Just saw your mha video. I am someone who usually always dismissed more "femist" angles to content just cause of the reputation back in 2016. But I really think you explained the topic extremely eloquently and reasonably. I have never really been a fan of fan-service but I always kind of ignored it until FireForce (which was absolutely awful in that department) Anyway really great video on MHA and I hope you upload again soon!
i cannot understate the joy i felt seeing this video in my recommended and seeing that it had been posted 4 months ago !! as someone who became a media analysis enjoyer after my initial yoi phase for the most part i believe i'm entering a small renaissance of seeking out yoi content and finding something fresh and recent is very nice!! i hold yoi very near and dear to my heart and seeing that other people still appreciate it as much even years past its airing is wonderful
Could you please review or make a video about blue exorcist? I think its a story that you'd quite enjoy and its actually written by a woman, which I guess can excuse the minor fanservice, although I think the anime adds a bit and even the character's with fanservice are developed beyond it.
HI I LOVE THIS. LITERALLY SO INTERESTING also sorry if this question is way too personal but what do u do in college? bc i would love to write something like this but i doubt that i would be able or asked when doing medicine lol
I’m so glad you enjoyed! And you’re all good, I studied history and film in college. Film studies gave me a lot of insight on how to examine and analysis shows and movies, and we also studied a little bit of practical production stuff like video editing, altho I am mostly self taught. This essay was actually for a Japanese studies class I took as an elective that examined food in Japanese film and literature, but I used a lot of my film/media analysis skills to write it. Even if you study medicine though, there’s a lot you can learn on your own through reading on your own! Robert Spadoni’s A Pocket Guide to Analyzing Films was something I read in my intro film classes that I found helpful for media analysis.
this analysis actually made me watch yuri on ice!! watching yoi w all this information made me notice all the details n it felt eye-opening... thank u for this awesome analysis
i REALLY wanna hear your take on Nanatsu no Taizai, sexism and sexualisation at every turn and war is romanticized regularly with the main antagonists treated as side characters by the end
