I just hope Alejandro stays with us long enough to watch the film! What started as a failed adaptation of Dune now will have it's own film adaptation, just pure poetry!
Honestly I feel that Terry Giliam or Luc Besson would have been the more fitting directors for INCAL, because I see Waitit drowning that story in a lot of jokes, rather than focus on the outworldly weirdness, the original comic contains. It was odd, not funny. But at least the project got greenlit in Jodos' lifetime, which is kinda a third of his DUNE put to motion. Another small victory for Jodorowski, again. 🙂
Terry Giliam would be amazing for this project. I hope Waititi really read the comics and its not just a promo thing, he butchered the last Thor stories with bad jokes.
That's crazy, I don't like him so much but I think makes absolute surreal sense this dude is at the helm of this. Best of wishes! Best of success for him and his crew.
If there is someone that could do justice to Jodorowsky´s vision and at the same time handle a huge budget movie, that would be taika, hoping this project goes smoothly, i want to see it!
FANTASTIC! CONGRATS TO JODOROWSKY. I HOPE WE WILL SEE JODO IN A ROLE. AND BRING MOEBIUS BACK IN A SCENE.DONE WITH TODAYS TECH...RIP MAESTRO...WAOW ITS HAPPENING..TAIKA NOW YOU PLAY WITH MASTERY . GOOD LUCK🍀☀️🌟
Actually Jodorowsky was working in a project to take Metabarons to cinema, back in the 90's, but suddenly one of his sons (Teo Jodorowsky) lose his life at a very young age. So he drops every project for a while. I really hope this project see the green light, because Alejandro is a well known "Anti-Hollywood" character, but maybe, under a science fiction "package" we could have a mainstream cinematic jodo-verse.
Interesting choice! Not anyone I would have expected, but certainly a person with vision and integrity. I am not entirely convinced he has the visual chops for the project, but we will see. He has Jodorowskys blessing after all.
@@Mrinsomniac Thor 3 is actually overrated, mocks his own mythology, the film defuses any moment of tension for mind-numbing jokes. Plus, Jodorowskys blessing is an authority argument, of course he is the author but this does not prevent fans to also give their opinion.
I've been waiting for something like this to happen for the greater part of my life. I'm middle-aged, The Maestro is almost 100 years old. Anything can happen.
Humanoids please publish that HUGE book that Jodorowsky have in his hands in the start of the teaser if not i'm going to sneak into his house and take it by own hands......nah i'm kiddin😂😂😂
It’s going to be a neutered adaptation. Even if I trusted Watiki to do the source material justice (which I dont) there is no way the studio that’s funding this are going to allow him to include all the bizarre, psychedelic, and often sexually violent imagery that made the novel such a unique masterpiece in the first place. It’ll just be a boring sci-fi blockbuster if it gets made. Also, we can almost be certain it’ll be woke af. The great cast of characters will probably be turned into a group of gender and racial diverse social justice warriors. Fucking shit makes me sick.
Creo que la elección de director fue muy buena, tiene experiencia manejando guiones, básicos, clichés y pseudo profundos combinados con una grandiosa puesta en escena.
So what is the update about this? Since I heard that you actually worked on an animation movie adaptation and saw the first samples, I'm really looking forward to seeing the final product! This could FINALLY be something to get excited about!
Finally Finally Finally This could really be a great movie as it was a great comic and if it’s successful maybe even lead to more Moebius creations finding their way to film like Arzach or The Airtight Garage of Jerry Cornelius. It would be nice for something different to get to theaters and Moebius’s work is outstandingly different. I really hope this attempt makes it.
Look, as much as i want to see this movie, what I ind of really want to see is Waititi going on a mad recruitment spree hiring promising young talent that no-one really has taken note of yet, getting some old talent to lend their name and credibility to the project, make some absolutely bonkers casting choices, spending more than half of the production budget on the preproduction, insist on making the movie at least fourteen hours long and finally failing to secure the last bits of budgets making the movie end up in development hell for ages all while fundamentally changing the landscape of film production as we know it so in thirty years i can watch an absolutely killer documentary about the glorious trainwreck it was while marveling at the immense impact it had on cinema as a whole. But like, as a statement? Jokes aside, literally could not be more Hyped about this. like omfg so much hype.
Not a good sign when they have to promote based on the names connected to a project rather than the merit of the project itself. Especially when the primary name is someone who is most famous for NOT completing a movie
No sé si Waititi sea el indicado para dirigirla, su obra más parecida es Thor... y no es la gran cosa la verdad, pero espero que le llegue a la obra y ojalá sea algo espectacular!
I am nervous yet hopeful. They seem to be making a big deal out of the director so maybe this is actually happening. SVP and Ouiskey in the inevitable collector's edition.
i think waititi will make it something of his own but it's also a tribute to both jodorowsky and moebius. i hope it succeeds as i definitely want to see this.
Taiki is a great pairing! this is exciting news, I'll be excited to see this when it comes out. (Please someone adapt ENki Bilal's work into animated series or feature length films next - he's brilliant)
Quentin Tarantino on wokeness "There has become a thing that's gone on, especially in this last year, where ideology is more important than art. Ideology trumps art. Ideology trumps individual effort. Ideology trumps good. Ideology trumps entertaining," Respect the Incal.
We all hope it is. Imagine Jodorowsky's pictures for a whole society in deep lambda meditation or whatever. I hope Jodorowsky gets a kick of collaborating with him. No disrespect, What we do in the shadows is amazing, but Jodo's movies are insanely powerful and imaginative...they portray the uniqueness of the human being responsible of filming it, as opposed to whatever franchise genre crap the movie industry churns out.
So cool! I remember an interview with Taika where he says Holy Mountain was a big influence for Thor Ragnarock and I know he’s a big fan so how cool to get such a strong endorsement from Jodorowsky and how lucky for all of us that he’s still around in his 90s to continue to share his creative vision.
Well this is going to be wild. Congrats on Humanoids for not only getting this beast of a project of the ground but also Taika getting Jodorowsky's blessing! I'm looking forward to this one.
I'm honestly glad it's not animated, because I feel Giraud is a great artist because he works with comics, where there is a lot more emphasis on creating good images and putting images together in a way that makes sense, rather than something akin to flowing motions. If you'd want to create an animation based on it you'd either do something completely different, which would create a whole different feel than the book, or you could try to mimic his style, which is practically doomed from the start and unecessary even if it would work, seeing how we already have his great art, there's no need to do it again.
3:03 _"I just loved the idea of someone who has no idea what he's doing with his life, and is then being charged with saving the universe."_ Taika Waititi basically summarized "The Fifth Element" in a brief sentence. I always enjoy when a connection between The Incal and The Fifth Element is made (doesn't matter if it's unintentional or not).
@@oldmanlogan9616 Valarian was an Main Character actor chemistry issue .. just like the other 2 young pretty ones who made parts of stars wars .garbage
i broke out into tears of joy seeing this. Please, for the love of all that is holy, this film must be made. not only for the humanoids, the memory and legacy of Sir Jodorowsky and Moebius, but for a proper example of comic being adapted to film and done well. a perfect director has been picked. the big question is will it be animated or live action. with animation, more could be done to perfectly capture every bit of the original art direction.
I feel since Dune 2021, a passage has been allowed to be opened for more unique sci fi stories... take us of balance & push every barriers of creativity please
Not that you're wrong but seems more like to me that Jodorowsky feels like his Incal is a better sci-fi story and iss his answer to Dune which he has a lot of criticisms about. I love Jodorowsky but it's seems fueled by ego. Not that I care but hopefully we're still getting it since Taika is now attached to the "creatively bankrupt" Star Wars ...
I’m glad it’s someone with brevity. There’s plenty of really creative folks who could visually translate, but Waititi also has an amazing ability to capture positivity and humor even in serious moments.
This is going to be amazing! Watching Thor Ragnorak, I thought the trash planet looked a lot like Incal. Definitely worth missing his Akira adaptation.
That's because Kirby was largely influenced by Moebius and other French, and Beligan comic book artists of the same era, so by extension the movie which heavily relied on Kirby's visuals is also bound to have the look and feel of the Incal...
Taika looks and acts like if he was teasing the new villain in a secret upcoming ZOOLANDER sequel… but I’m afraid this is not the case. He’s that disconnected from reality. I mean… when he shows up walking in slow mo, and after we hear the word “GOD”, the camera tilts up revealing his face… WTF. How can anyone surrounding him not warn him about the level of CRINGE this display of unapologetic hubris is?
I am worrying about the choice of Taika Waititi as the director, he is not a very talented man, even less with regard to comedy "gewollt, aber nicht gekonnt" as we Germans say. I hope the other artists who participate in making this movie will compensate for this and he won't impede them too much. So far, The 5th Element is the best Incaloid movie I've seen. A less-CGI Luc Besson was my best guess for a suitable director.
Very fitting that this project is given to someone useless like a superhero movie director, since Jodorowsky is notoriously very fond of those. Very sad
This is not going to be easy. The vision of the future was quite different back then. There is a whole new universe to be created and maintained around the story. Taika is the one, no doubt , but this movie needs more than one genius.
When I watched this for the first time I was so excited, finally The Incal movie, and cherry on top: directed by Taika. There's absolutely nothing that can go wrong... And then I watched Thor: Love and Thunder. Well, not so excited anymore, there are a ton of things that will go wrong. Taika will make another mockery, a childish joke wrapped in shiny clothes. Please change the director before is too late.
