The Incredible Hulk Fights Bruce Banner?! (The Incredible Hulk Vol 1: Hulk vs Banner) 

This is a great read. Bruce DID NOT try to run. Hulk made him realize he made a mistake. That Hulk was always there to save Banner and that Banner blamed Hulk for every mistake Banner made. Bruce went to deactivate the gamma bomb but Hulk grabbed him and told him he's not saving Banner any more. Hulk watched Bruce die. And Amanda von Doom let the hulkling run a train.

I always knew that Banner was the monster, and the hulk was the person trying to keep Banner under control during his episode of fury, like the pin of a grenade.

They do mention, rather off hand, that Banner is doing drugs and electrocuting himself to avoid sleeping, and he also had a huge brain tumor. That all might have had something to do with him going off the rocker.

Just a couple corrections. This story picks up after the "Fear Itself" story after Hulk was sent flying by Thor.In the epilogue of that story Banner wakes up on a beach and asks the Hulk what he did as the Hulk walks away. And the Hog Men were not sent by Banner. They tracked him down on their own to attempt to gain their "father's" approval (Banner)

Banner's poppin out poor man-versions of the incredible Hulk left and right.

I like stories that don't have a convoluted ending. "In the end Banner psychologically needed the Hulk." is a good way to end it.

I teared towards the end of the video. Hit me right in the feelings. Another great video Rob

I thought he was going to say that Banner and his hulk persona were always 2 separate, ever since Banner made him when he was a child. And when the gamma bomb went off, the hulk persona got the hulk powers, and Banner didn't. So when Doom split them in two, Banner got the hulk powers, but the insane hulk persona stayed human. That makes much more sense.

That was a cool story, your explanation of the two separate Banner bodies got a little muddied but I get the gist of what you are saying. Never could maintain a like for Hulk comics because it so often broke down to fight 'Hulkified' creatures but this seems like a cool story

I hear you when you said you got burnt out on doing Hulk stories, but I first came to this channel because of Planet Hulk, and boy oh boy do i love every hulk story you cover, Thanks Rob!

*@comics explained*, you forgot to mention how at the end of this story, the Incredible Hulk looks at his reflection in the water and see's Bruce Banner screaming hitting the reflection like he is behind a glass wall hinting at the fact that Bruce never left he was never killed. since his part of the brain was seperated and put in a clone body and that ver. of Bruce Banner died, it hints that since that part of his brain was destroyed it simply regenerated in the hulks brain and effectively brought back Bruce into the Hulk's Mind

That's a fantastic Hulk story. Puny Banner is now Missing Banner for Hulk. How ironic now he has the brain to understand what they were for one another. It's brilliant story telling.

I love the Incredible Hulk stories. This story put me in the mind set of the Incredible Hulk Tv show kinda sad and dark

I understand that the author tried to explain it that Hulk was his vent for anger and that's why he went crazy. But then it is also weird in the sense that Banner was by no means insane prior to the gamma radiation. Would of made more sense if they just explained it as a addiction to the Hulk.

The Hulk is seriously my favorite in comics. The duality of him.... I seriously buy comics after you read these out, so I can just read them with my own eyes. Do more Hulk!

There were, if I'm not mistaken, two Hulks and a Banner running around. There was a Wolverine fight. I never got a chance to read it, but I saw a couple of issues here and there, and I remember I found it it very compelling. Thanks man

I don't like the brain swap concept. They are not separate beings. Both should deteriorate if separated, and be clearly lesser than their summation. This is analogous to saying someone with Dissociative Identity Disorder placing one of their personalities into another body or saying that Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde can become separate beings. Their the same, and this should be paramount to death for the individual.

Doctor doom will always help Valaria Richards, Susan Storm, Franklin Richards, and pretty much all of the fantastic four at any point in time that they ask for help without requiring they to pay for it. Especially Valaria because she's basically his daughter as well and treats her like his family which was seen when she was able to run away to him and he took care of her.

Great narration as always. in my very humble opinion hulk is not a victim this writer projecting. hulk is wrath unleashed. he is very similar to wolverine in how anger is handled often. the character of banner is need of ongoing therapy and medicine but is not crazy. many other of marvels characters are angry (spidey, dr. strange, iron man, Thor). He is another amazingly powered hero who cannot take responsibility for himself. it;s always something or someone else.

they did this split banner from the hulk thing before back in the late 80's or early 90s. doc Samson split them. they wound up having to combine them again or they would both die.

remember you did a video on a stronger hulk then world breaker hulk? it was when the hulk was fighting red she hulk in he was inside of that reality that was constant fighting and he got there because it was like a wishing water thing that grants wishes and a wish was granted for hulk to go there and it was a time in that story that you said the version of hulk in that story was stronger than world breaker hulk @comicsexplained

Damn, that was an awesome story. Makes me wish I read comics. Luckily I have Rob for that! Man though, that makes a hell of a lot of sense. I mean, when you think about it, I suppose the point of this story was to show what Bruce Banner would be like if he didn't have the Incredible Hulk, if instead of turning into the Hulk and becoming a big, dumb, green monster that smashes stuff to vent his anger and frustration, he maintained all of his cognition, all of his scientific genius, and directed it into whatever the hell his twisted, anger-fueled imagination could dream up. All along, we've thought of the Hulk transformation as a side effect; a symptom, as if the Hulk is Bruce Banner's "dark side", but really it almost serves as a form of therapy for Banner. He is, at his core, a damaged, emotionally unstable individual, and the feelings he experiences when he turns into the Hulk do not belong to the Hulk itself, those are ALL Bruce Banner. If he didn't turn into the Hulk, he would still be consumed by rage, he would still lash out in irrational, uncontrollable anger, he would just do it differently; he would do it as Bruce Banner; a genius, a scientist. And, as it turns out, that version of him can be much, much scarier than the Hulk. It really gives you a different perspective on the Hulk, who we've have been taught for all these decades to treat as a danger, something to fear, to resent, or try and restrict. But really, if it wasn't for Hulk interjecting, and allowing Banner to vent out all of his anger at once, Banner would just try to repress that anger himself, or vent it in a different manner. And when you repress anger, it turns into hatred, and malice. And malice can make you do things that are far scarier and more sinister than smashing a few buildings or beating people up.
