Thank you Vice Asia for recognising Indian football which most of us Indians still fail to do. And i thank all the legendary Indian footballers for giving their all for the love of the game irrespective of not even receiving 10% of the love and support they deserved. Thank you, Let's Football ☺️
I'm a hard core Indian football fan I literally cry everytime I hear about the golden era of Indian football God knows what happened to us now we are nowhere, struggling hard to make our name in world football Huge respect to captain leader legend Sunil chettri who is carrying Indian football from a decade now. I hope we will come back soon 🇮🇳
My first memory as a kid of a bicycle kick goal was by Shyam Thapa, a legend too in Indian football in my books. So the statement, India had not seen a bicycle kick goal before Bhaichung Bhutia is incorrect. Ask the Bengalis of Calcutta.
What she said was that many people had not seen an Indian do a bicycle kick before. The match were bhaichung bhatia scored took place in Delhi. There is a possibility that nobody in Delhi saw an Indian do a kick like that. Till today Indian football is still concentrated in Kolkata. But that is changing with the introduction of Indian Super League.
Ahh!!! 6th August, 1978. Kolkata Derby. We won 1-0 that day against East Bengal in the Calcutta League. Shyam Thapa's bicycle kick came after a cross from Subhash Bhowmik which was headed on by Mohammed Habib, sealed the win for Mohun Bagan. Goutam Sarkar was outstanding as usual too ❤️. I still have my dad's Shyam Thapa jersey no.22 with me and the jersey no.14 of Goutam Da that he gifted me for my birthday. We are Mariners for life ❤️
After watching both episodes I think we were not destined to play at the highest level for a long time. It's unfortunate to see that the association didn't prioritize FIFA and the sudden demise of Mr. Rahim paved the way for a great fall of football in India. On the other hand, hockey was doing good and then cricket took over big time. The future to be honest looks bleak but let's hope for the best.
I am start watching football 2 yrs before But only some European leagues because I thought indian football doesn't have standard maybe still now But from last few months i love to watch indian football also like isl and many matches even now days i watch u20 and universities match under khelo india Hope it's grow and we hear indian national anthem in fifa
Yeah Indo-Pak football has always been the more quieter compared to more cricket which has the most nationalistic and toxic fans. I heard Hockey used to be very toxic before but with decline of subcontinent hockey the intense rivalry died down eventually.
@@amlans5314 Cricket is hell of an overrated game in India..... it's a dying game outside of the subcontinent though.....ICC itself is confused as to which format of cricket they wanna promote....they call a 10 teams tournament the "World Cup"... what a joke.... 😂....
@@amlans5314 Cricket's existing fanbase in South Africa, England,West Indies,New Zealand,Sri Lanka are declining.... Only here in India ,people are mad about it....Go check comment section of highlights of other counties matches, almost all of them would be Indians....
There's a Bengali movie called 'Egaro' (means 11) on the IFA Shield win against East Yorkshire regiment. I urge my fellow Indians to watch that movie. Know where it all started and understand how that win in a football match gave new fire to the Indian revolution against the British in Bengal.
Had leave this comment, once I went to a wedding in Kolkata, it was one of my very close family friends' daughter's. I was like 7-8, right now I am 32. And there I met I.M. Vijayan and sat on his lap to take a picture. Worst realisation for me is that my parents have lost that picture. But I think the memory is enough to last my lifetime. ❤️
Good luck to our Indian Football Team to get selection in 2026 Fifa world cup & upcoming AFC Cup. Request to all my fellow Indians to take a break from Cricket & give equal support to other sports....And let's revive & cheer for Indian Football ⚽.
I am amazed by this story! Coming from a family full of Mohun Bagan fans, I have only heard a glimpse of how glorious Indian football was back in the day. Through these videos, I am convinced that besides hockey, football was India's preferred choice of sports post-independence; if only we had the kind of coverage prowess and exposure we do these days, we'd have seen India going toe-to-toe against the European and South American behemoths. Unfortunately, lucky for cricket, 1983 happened right before India's economic fortunes took a positive turn, cementing its position as the top sport. However, I firmly believe there is hope for Indian football, and we'll reach the greatest stage again, especially with the expansion of the world cup to 48 teams!
These videos bring smile and tears all at the same time to a Die-hard #IndianFootball fan like me .... What we could have achieved ...yet where we are ... Nevertheless we are with 🇮🇳 through every Thick n Thin🔥🙏🏼
Even the Arabs have much more money and better infrastructure but the main requirement is spirit of the game ⚽🥅,even Brazil became world champions and they were considered 3rd world at that time .
More than money it requires passion dedication commitment and love for the game❤️. Look at African countries like Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria,Senegal, ivory coast... they have lower economy than India but still there football is way better than us in current time.
For those who want Indian football to grow, pick one club in India and support it. Become their die hard fans. Almost all big cities in India have their club. With increased popularity, more money will come in. That means more training facilities for players. Then we can become the top ten in Asia which will give us a great chance to qualify for the WC. So remember, support your club. I support Kerala Blasters. You?
@@SAFFRONINFERNOChina had performed consistently in AFC Champions League with their teams reaching semi finals until a couple years ago when the Chinese govt imposed some restriction on club spending. China unlike India participates in most AFC Youth Championship and reaches knockout stage. There is clearly a rise in China football from investment. A poor performance in AFC Asian Cup 2024 should not suggest otherwise.
One of the main reason's for indian footballs fall is they abandoned Coach SA rahims style and philosophy which was way ahead of its time and was similar to the kind of football that johan Cruyff's holland and ajax played in the 70s 20 year's later and 50 years later by Barcelona and spain at the beginning of 21st century
Indian football is in it's growth in these days more people are falling in love with football and so many youngsters are emerging with special talents and skills in football the Indian Super League is having a great eye by the football world so many collabs with the popular clubs around the world, so many quality foreign players those who played crucial roles in the top clubs of the popular leagues are coming to play in ISL and so many football legends like Diego carlos, Diego forlan, Marcco matterazi, Del piero, Anelka, Berbatov, Luis garcia played and Managed clubs as well and new football academies are sprouting up in the country ..and yes a positive impact has been developed and the world cup qualification is not so far to grab up❣🇮🇳
Thank you Vice for these untold stories. I am hopeful that some day we will be able to see the golden period of indian football. Meanwhile JioCinema, the broadcaster for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has revealed positive insights as follows: • 32 million viewers has tuned in JioCinema to watch the final match. • India was one of the nations with the highest digital audience for the FIFA World Cup with over 110 million viewers. • Indians had recorded 40 billion minutes of watch time being registered across Sports18 and JioCinema. • JioCinema remained the No. 1 downloaded free app on iOS and Android throughout the tournament. • For the first time ever, digital viewership exceeded the TV viewership • This is the highest ever engagement and viewership for a tournament where India hasn't participated.
Not only watch video.. Encourage others also.. Send your children to play football.. Football has more money and stardom than cricket, if you play properly. I'm dreaming of my India play in world cup, not only play but win the title.. one day in very near future. 😊
*GOI should invest money and should ask private players to invest money in Indian football* *The real world cup is football* *And India has got talent we can really become a competitive team*
India ki dikkat he yahi hai ki koi sports ko serious nahi leta hai aur nahi hamari pyari government. Log sports sirf Government job k liye khelte hai (Sports Quota)
I see how these folks are passionate when telling stories from past. Can you imagine Pakistani hockey team cheering for Indian football team when the whole crowd was hostile to India.
We had so much talent at that time if we just could hold that we would have been a full power in the footballing world right now. Unfortunately our nation could hold into that
@@socio-economicnewsnetwork4740 PK,Chuni goswami was not Anglo lol......PK even won fifa order of merit....IFA shield won by bengalis.....Where are the majority Anglos lol.....Asian games also won majorly by non anglos......Are you conspiracy theorist
I dont understand still why does this media highlights Football means just Bengal where it had same roots in Kerala, Goa and Punjab which produced the best players of India ever had, it was just this worst politics and focusing on few made diminishing of Indian Football and at current we see the rise of Karnataka and tamil nadu, Kashmir and every Northeastern states having rapid pase where still AIFF is failing to recognise if Indian football needs to strengthen stop focusing on star players and try all means look into the leagues like ISL and I-league u will get the best players and train them and u will get gold out of it
How did it have the same roots....It is insulting to make a statement like that....Mohunbagan and East Bengal were the 2 figureheads or face of indian football since the beginning with their achievments and the sheer magnitude of them....and even now to an extent also........Everyone wanted to play in them.....they(bengal) acheived everything from club to country at the highest levels....and that hasn't been topped ever since with so called diversification with other states....some things are only meant for some people only.......If that were not the case then we should have the same WCs as brazil and what not given our 1.4 billion population.
Dear Vice, If you were going to make a series on INDIAN FOOTBALL then surely should have went on to look for football in India rather than feature just KOLKATA FOOTBALL! Where is Goan football? Northeast? Kerala? And the Santosh trophy with the record highest women attendance?
This documentary is about the rise of football in India through different passages, 70% of the Indian football history consists of Bengal/ Kolkata clubs so definitely they are gonna talk about Kolkata football.
Cricket is a gentleman sport We should not encourage football in India because we have seen how football has caused rampage in the world. Indians should stay away from this kind of boring, hooligan sports.
